Product Usage Instructions

  1. Applications:
    The Plug’n Heat cables are primarily used in piping, water meters, and other equipment to prevent freezing. The cable comes with a plug for connection to an earthed socket. For permanent installations, the cable should be controlled by an all-pole switch or a thermostat and equipped with a strain relief.

  2. Safety Instructions:

    • WARNING: There is a risk of electric shock and fire! Exercise caution when handling the heating cable.
  3. General Installation Instructions:
    When installing the self-regulating heating cable inside a water pipe: – Use soap to push the cable end through the rubber seal of the pressure bushing. – Carefully insert the cable into the water pipe to avoid damaging the cable sheath. – Cover sharp parts with fabric tape during installation.

Installation and Operating Instructions

  1. Applications
    Plug’n Heat cables are used in piping, water meters and other equipment to prevent freezing. The cable is equipped with a plug for connection to an earthed socket. In permanent installations the cable should be controlled by either an all-pole switch or a thermostat and equipped with a strain relief.

  2. Safety instructions
    WARNING

    Danger of electric shock! Risk of fire!

    • Improper use can cause personal injury and property damage.
    • Do not operate a defect heating cable.
    • Children aged from 8 years above and persons with reduced capabilities may use this appliance only if they have been given supervision or instructions concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the  hazards involved.
    • Children must not clean the appliance or do any maintenance work without supervision.
    • Children must not play with the appliance.
    • The instruction manual must be stored in a safe location and be available for future installation and service.
  3. General installation instructions

    • Plug’n Heat cables can be used both indoors and outdoors. The heating cable is self-regulating and under normal circumstances its temperature will not rise above 60ºC. The cable may be installed directly on top of either plastic or metal piping underneath the insulation. It can also be installed directly underwater. The cable can be laid so that it winds over itself.
    • The cable must not be installed in a situation in which the protective sheath may be exposed to physical wear. For example, it should not be compressed, laid against sharp edges, placed under tension, or subject to constant chafing.
    • The minimum bending radius is 25 mm.
    • The joint between the connecting cable and the heating cable must not be bent.
    • The connection cable and the joint between the connection cable and the heating cable must not be pushed into the pressure bushing.
    • A residual circuit breaker must be used according to the local installation regulations.
    • The minimum installation temperature for the cable is – 15 °C.
    • The cable should be connected to the 230 V mains supply through a protective earth socket.
    • Observe when installing the self-regulating heating cable Plug’n Heat inside a water pipe!
      The cable end can be pushed through the rubber seal of the pressure bushing using soap. The cable should be cautiously pushed through the rubber seal into the water pipe in order to avoid damaging the cable sheath. The threads and other sharp parts should be covered with e.g. fabric tape during the installation.
