Minimum distances for aeration and ventilation
The air circulation at the back, side and top of the appliance influences the
energy consumption and the cooling/freezing capacity (depending on the
model). It is essential to observe the minimum distances for ventilation of
the appliance, which are shown in the drawing below. If the minimum clearances
are not observed, the accumulated air cannot escape and the compressor is in
continuous operation, which shortens the life of the appliance.
Unit dimensions in mm and degrees
a | b | b2 | c | d | e | f | g | h |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
545 | 555 | 1055 | 1430 | 100 | 50 | 50 | 135° | 910 |
- Failure to observe the minimum distances increases power consumption.
- If the accumulated heat cannot dissipate around the unit, the function of the unit is impaired.
- To achieve the specified energy class, observe the above distances.
- Do not place refrigerator-freezers with a temperature controller in cool rooms below 16 °C.
10.3 Levelling
If the surface is slightly uneven, level the unit with the front feet.
Commissioning
Thoroughly clean the appliance and the parts of the interior before putting it into operation (see chapter “Maintenance and care”).
- Adjust the temperature level depending on the ambient temperature (installation site), when changing the equipment or when opening the appliance door frequently.
- In very high summer temperatures, set the temperature control to a higher level to maintain the desired cooling temperature.

The glass shelves are removable / height-adjustable.
- Pull the glass shelves forward.
- Swing the glass shelves up or down and remove them.
The glass shelf above the vegetable tray always remains in the same position
to ensure proper air circulation.
Observe the following advice when refrigerating fresh food:
- If appliance doors are open for a long time, this leads to a considerable increase in temperature in the compartments of the appliance. Stored food can spoil more quickly as a result.
The freezer room is suitable for long-term storage of frozen goods and for freezing fresh food.
CAUTION
RISK OF INJURY!
- Touching frozen food, ice and metal parts inside the freezer compartment can cause burn-like symptoms on very sensitive skin.
- Do not remove frozen food with wet or damp hands; your hands could freeze on it.
Observe the following when storing in the freezer:
- In the event of a power failure, keep the appliance doors closed. The food will remain frozen for several hours (see product data sheet “Storage time in the event of a malfunction”).
- Only use food that is in perfect condition.
- Do not interrupt the cold chain of frozen products.
- Keep the time between purchase and placing the frozen food in the appliance as short as possible.
- Do not freeze too large quantities at once. The quality of the food is best preserved if it is quickly frozen through to the core. The maximum amount of food you can freeze in 24 hours is indicated on the type plate and in the product data sheet.
- The temperature during the freezing phase can be influenced via the temperature controller in the cold room.
- Store high-proof drinks containing alcohol only tightly closed and upright. Follow the instructions of the beverage manufacturer.

Freezing capacity of the maximum amount of food within 24 hours can be seen on the type plate (inside or on the back of the appliance) and the product data sheet.
11.3 Make ice cubes
Fill the ice cube tray (not included in the delivery) three-quarters full with
water and place it horizontally on the bottom of the freezer compartment.
Loosen the frozen ice cube tray with a blunt object (e.g. spoon handle). Hold
the finished ice cubes under running water for a short time to make them
easier to remove.
11.4 Save energy
- Do not place the appliance near cookers, radiators or other heat sources. If the ambient temperature is high, the compressor will run more often and longer, resulting in increased energy consumption.
- Ensure sufficient ventilation at the base, sides and rear of the unit. Never cover the ventilation openings. Observe the distance dimensions (see chapter 2 “Installation and connection”).
- The arrangement of drawers, shelves and racks as shown in the “Getting to know the appliance” illustration offers the most efficient use of energy and should therefore be retained as far as possible.
- For a larger storage space (e.g. for large refrigerated/frozen goods), remove the middle shelves. If necessary, remove the upper and lower shelves last.
- An evenly filled refrigerator/freezer compartment contributes to optimal energy use. Avoid empty or half-empty compartments.
- Do not put warm food in the refrigerator/freezer. Allow food to cool down first.
- Defrost frozen food in the refrigerator. The coldness of the frozen food reduces energy consumption in the refrigerator compartment and thus increases energy efficiency.
- Do not set the temperature colder than necessary. This contributes to optimal energy use.
- Door seals of the appliance must be fully intact so that the doors close properly and energy consumption does not increase unnecessarily.
- Open the appliance only when necessary and then only as briefly as possible. Energy consumption and the temperature in the appliance may increase if the appliance door is opened frequently or for a long time or is not closed properly.
Maintenance and care
For hygienic reasons, clean the outside and inside of the appliance, including
the door seal and interior fittings, regularly.
Before carrying out any maintenance or servicing work, make sure that the
appliance is disconnected from the mains (see safety chapter ” Electric
shock).
CAUTION
RISK OF INJURY!
- Do not use electric heaters, naked flames, knives or similar to defrost.
- Never clean the appliance with steam cleaning equipment. Moisture could get into electrical components.
- If the temperature controller is set to “0”, cooling is switched off, but the power circuit is maintained.
ATTENTION
SURFACE!
- Do not use abrasive, aggressive cleaning agents.
- Do not use scratching sponges.
- Essential oils and organic solvents, e.g. juice of lemon or orange peel, butyric acid or cleaning agents containing acetic acid, may attack plastic parts. Do not bring such substances into contact with the appliance parts.
12.1 Clean unit
- Take out the chilled food. Store everything covered in a cool place.
- To clean the glass shelves, lift them up slightly and pull them out until they can be swung up or down and removed.
- Push the door compartments upwards and remove them.
- Clean the appliance, including the door seal and interior fittings, with a cloth and lukewarm water, adding a little commercial washing-up liquid.
- Wipe with clean water and rub dry.
- Check the condensation drain hole. Clean regularly with cotton swabs.
- Insert the cleaned glass shelves, door compartments, drawers, etc.
- Make sure that the interior of the appliance is completely dry.
- Connect the unit to the mains and switch it on.
12.2 Clean / change appliance door seal
Check the airtightness of the door seals
- Clamp a sufficiently long strip of paper 50 mm wide and 0.08 mm thick at various points on the unit.
If the paper can be pulled through with a slight resistance, the appliance door seal is tight. (The test of the thickness of the paper used is carried out according to ISO 534).
Or
- Place a torch on a glass shelf in the appliance, point the light in the direction of the appliance door seal and close the door. If no direct light shines through, the appliance door seal is tight.
If direct light shines through the closed door, the appliance door seal is leaking.
Replace appliance door seal
- Remove food from the appliance.
- Pull the appliance door seal out of the appliance.
- Clean the appliance door as usual.
- Insert new appliance door seal in the gaps.
- First insert the appliance door seal into the corners and press down with your thumb, / stroke.
- If the appliance door seal does not fit evenly all over: carefully heat the corresponding areas with a hair dryer and pull it out a little with your fingers.
Check the appliance door seals regularly for dirt and damage.
Grease and oil make the appliance door seals porous and brittle.
If grease or oil gets on door seals: Clean appliance door seals immediately
with a cloth and lukewarm water, adding some commercial dishwashing detergent.
12.3 Defrosting
Automatic defrosting in the refrigerator compartment
The cooling area is equipped with an automatic defrosting system. Frost and
ice defrost automatically. The defrost water flows through the channel into
the defrost hole, on the back of the appliance into a defrost water tray. The
heat of the motor evaporates the defrost water.
Set the temperature so that the appliance does not cool constantly – without a
defrosting phase. The temperature in the refrigerator drops (to below 0 °C)
and drinks and fresh food freeze. The icing of the back wall increases energy
consumption very much and the efficiency of the appliance decreases.
If the condensation water does not drain properly from the drainage channel to
the collection container, check whether the drainage channel is blocked
(see chapter “Troubleshooting”).
There must be no water on the floor or in contact with electrical parts.
Manual defrosting in the freezer compartment
A layer of frost and ice can form in the freezer compartment after prolonged
use. If this ice layer reaches a thickness of 6 – 8 mm, defrost and clean the
freezer compartment. An excessively thick layer of frost and ice increases
energy consumption. Before defrosting, set the temperature control to the
highest setting; the frozen food stores the cold for some time.
- Pull out the mains plug.
- Empty the unit and store the goods in a cool room.
- To speed up defrosting, place a container of warm water inside the appliance.
- Do not use any mechanical objects to remove the ice layer.
- First remove the coarse pieces of ice and then the small pieces of ice from the appliance.
- Clean the freezer compartment including the interior with a cloth and lukewarm water, adding a little commercial dishwashing detergent.
- Wipe with clean water and rub dry.
- After cleaning, reconnect the appliance to the mains and switch it on.
12.4 Illuminant (LED)
The unit is equipped with maintenance-free LED lighting.
Repairs to this LED lighting should only be carried out by the customer service.
12.5 Taking the unit out of operation
To switch off the appliance, pull out the mains plug or switch off the fuse
and unscrew it.
- Remove food.
- Pull out the mains plug or switch off the fuse and unscrew it.
- Defrost the appliance and clean it thoroughly (see chapter “Maintenance and care”).
- Leave appliance doors open to avoid odours and mould.
Operating noises / troubleshooting
Repairs to electrical appliances must only be carried out by the customer
service (see chapter “Spare parts / Customer service”). Incorrect or
improperly carried out repairs can be dangerous for the user.
If the repair has not been carried out properly, the warranty will be
invalidated.
Operating noise
NOISE | NOISE | CAUSE / REMEDY |
---|---|---|
Normal noises | Marbles | Caused by the compressor when it is in operation. |
Liquid noise | Arises from the circulation of the refrigerant in the unit. | |
Clicking sounds | The temperature controller switches the compressor on or off. | |
Disturbing noises | Bottle sounds | Leave a safe distance between the bottles |
and other containers.
Vibration of the condenser (only with visible condenser at the rear of the
unit)| Check if the condenser at the back of the unit is loose. Fasten the
condenser.
DISTURBANCE | POSSIBLE CAUSES | MEASURES |
---|---|---|
Interior light does not work, but compressor runs. | Bulb is defective. |
Replace the bulb (see chapter 4.4).
There is water in the unit.| Condensation drain hole is completely closed.|
Clean the condensation drain hole, e.g. with a cotton swab.
Cooling group starts too often and for too long.| The appliance door is opened
too often.| Do not open the appliance door unnecessarily.
Air circulation around the unit is obstructed.| Leave the area around the unit
free.
Unit does not cool.
Side wall is very warm (only for models with foamed- in condenser).| Unit is
switched off or is not supplied with power.| Check the power supply and fuses.
Check that the mains plug is correctly inserted in the socket.
Check that there is voltage at the socket.
Temperature controller is set to “0”.| Check the temperature controller
settings.
Ambient temperature is too low.| (see chapter 2.2)
The condenser releases warm air into the environment. If the ambient
temperature is too high, heat can build up. As soon as the ambient temperature
has dropped, the unit cools normally again. It is essential to observe the
clearances (see chapter 2.2).| No measures necessary.
Sticker “OK” does not appear.| Average temperature in this range set too
high.| Set the temperature control to a colder level.
Change the temperature control only gradually and wait approx. 12 hours before
checking again.
A layer of frost or ice forms on the rear inner wall.| High room temperatures
(such as on hot summer days) and a high temperature controller setting can
lead to continuous cooling operation. The compressor must run continuously to
maintain the set temperature in the unit. The appliance is not able to
defrost automatically, as this is only possible when the compressor is not
running (see chapter “Defrosting”).| Turn the temperature control knob to a
lower setting. The compressor will turn on and off as usual and the automatic
defrosting will continue.
