****WARNING!

Carefully read, understand and follow the instructions provided in this manual, and keep it in a safe place for future reference. If you have any doubt whatsoever regarding the use or care of your helmet, please see your retailer for assistance or advice. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions provided herein can result in the failure of the helmet to protect you in an accident, resulting in a head injury or death.

Thank you

Thank you for choosing a Race-R Pro GP 06 helmet. The Race-R Pro GP 06 is a top-quality helmet that is ideal for use in urban and extra urban areas. For the Race-R Pro GP 06, SHARK has invested all of its designing experience in safe headgear for riding two-wheeled motorized vehicles. The helmet complies with international standards but does not purport to guarantee total protection in all circumstances. Make sure you carefully read all of the following recommendations before using the helmet. Just because you are wearing a helmet does not mean you should neglect driving carefully.

Standard: This Race-R Pro GP 06 SHARK helmet has been approved and conforms to the UNECE R 22/06 standard. It therefore meets the requirements imposed on all the countries that recognize this standard in their territory.

WARNINGS AND INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Always ride with care. Even though this helmet meets or exceeds many of the world’s most demanding standards for helmet production, no helmet can protect the wearer from all foreseeable high or low speed impacts. All safety equipment have limits, and you could still sustain a head injury in an accident even if you are wearing a helmet. However, for maximum protection against death or permanent impairment from a head injury, the helmet must fit firmly on your head and the chinstrap must be securely fastened as described in this manual.
  2. The helmet is designed to absorb impact by partial destruction of the shell and/ or liner. This damage may not be visible to you. Therefore, if your helmet is subjected to any impact, even if it is only dropped to the ground, the helmet should be returned for inspection or replaced and destroyed even if it is apparently undamaged. If you have any doubts, and you are not sure whether this rule applies, consult your dealer before you use your helmet again.
  3. A helmet, like all products, may wear out over time depending on the conditions of use. Please check your helmet every time you use it for evidence of damage or wear. The helmet should always fit snugly all around your head. If it is not snug, it has become too big for you and should be replaced. Never wear a damaged helmet. Even if the helmet does not show any evidence of damage or wear, we recommended the helmet to be replaced five years after it is first purchased.
  4. Make no modifications whatsoever to your helmet. Never drill or cut any component of the helmet. Modifications can significantly weaken your helmet, thereby eliminating its ability to protect you from an impact.
  5. Handle your helmet carefully. Never sit on it or drop it to the ground. Never ride with the helmet hanging from any part of your motorcycle.
  6. Never use petroleum or petroleum products, chemicals or any other solvents to clean the helmet, shell or visor. In addition, never expose your helmet to the fumes of these solvents (for example by leaving it on top of the fuel tank cap on your motorcycle). Your helmet could be seriously damaged by these agents, without this damage being visible to you, thereby eliminating its ability to protect you. Use only mild soap, warm water, and a soft cloth to wipe your helmet and visor clean.
  7. Never apply any paint, stickers or adhesive tape to any part of your shell or visor. They could significantly weaken your helmet, without this damage being visible to you, thereby eliminating the helmet’s ability to protect you.
  8. You will experience some reduction in hearing, peripheral vision and head movements while you are wearing your helmet. Please ride accordingly.
  9. Dry your helmet at room temperature. Never subject it to heat in excess of 160°F/70°C,which can occur if your helmet is stored in the passenger compartment or trunk of a car.
  10. If you ever have any comments or questions about this helmet, please contact SHARK or your nearest dealer.

****No warranty or representation is made as to this product’s ability to protect the user from all foreseeable high or low speed impacts or from any injury or death; The user of this helmet recognizes and agrees that there are risks inherent in motorcycle riding, including but not limited to the risk that your helmet cannot protect against all foreseeable high or low speed impacts. By his/her purchase and use of this helmet, the user expressly, voluntarily and knowingly accepts and assumes these risks and agrees to hold SHARK harmless to the fullest extent permitted by law against any resulting damages.

WARNING! The United-States have a specific regulation, the helmets UNECE approved only cannot be used in these territories without the complementary DOT FMVSS 218 approval.

WARNING! For French t0raffic, the Highway Code requires safety reflectors (supplied separately in a packet) to be fitted in accordance with the enclosed plan.

WARNING! No helmet can fully protect users against all possible high or low-speed shocks. To ensure an efficient level of protection however, the helmet must be sized appropriately and the chin strap adequately tightened, as indicated in the manual. It is hazardous not to use a correctly sized helmet or not to sufficiently tighten the chin strap closing system since the helmet may become detached from the head in the event of an accident, thereby causing serious or even fatal injuries.

CHOOSE YOUR SIZE

Each helmet, sized from XS to XL, has been designed for a given head shape. To accurately measure your head circumference, unroll a tape measure horizontally at a 2.5-cm distance above your eyebrows. If the measurement obtained lies between two sizes, start by trying the smaller helmet.

Keep in mind that due to the wide variation in skull shapes, these references merely serve to guide you to the size best adapted to your particular head. To ensure efficient protection, you’ll need to verify that the helmet fits your head snugly. When choosing a new helmet, be sure to verify that your head slides all the way into the helmet, with the top line of the field of vision being positioned above your eyebrows. Also ensure that the chin strap is sufficiently tightened, as shown on the following page.

  1. The head must be fully enveloped by the helmet and the cheek pads must provide adequate support. Should this not be the case, the helmet you selected is too big, so try the next smaller size (see Figure A).

  2. With the chin strap appropriately tightened, make sure the helmet does not shift too much from left to right and from top to bottom. A H E L M E T I N Y O U R S I Z E You should feel your skin stretch around the head and face when adjusting the helmet. Should this not be the case, the selected helmet is too big, try the next smaller size **(see Figure B).

**

  1. 3. With the chin strap fastened, grab the back of the helmet by its base and try to remove it from your head by a rotational movement. Next, try to remove the helmet by grabbing it at the base of the chin guard. You must perform these movements in expending a sufficient amount of effort. If the helmet starts to loosen, then the selected helmet is too big, hence try the next smaller size.

  2. Lean your head forward as much as possible. The base of the chin guard must not touch your chest (see Figure C).

  3. Now lean your head backward as much as possible. The base of the helmet must not touch your back (see Figure D).

Avoid bunching or attaching your hair inside the helmet. Do not place anything in or on  your hair inside the helmet. Avoid adding anything inside the helmet to adjust its position on your head. For questions regarding choosing the right helmet size, please seek advice from your retailer. Each of these steps needs to be repeated throughout the helmet use life since the cushiony foam may alter over time. Should the foam no longer be sufficiently thick when wearing the helmet, it will need to be replaced.

A  HELMET  IN YOUR  SIZE

WARNING! Never lend your helmet without first verifying, in accordance with instructions laid out in this manual, that it fits the other person snugly.

WARNING! If in following these instructions, the helmet you identify is not perfectly suitable, DO NOT WEAR IT. Instead, choose a different size or model.

WARNING! Never use the loop as the sole means for closing the chin strap. To ensure adequate tightening, the chin strap must be inserted into the double-D buckles in strict accordance with the instructions. Any misuse of the chin strap may result in your helmet coming off during an accident, thereby leaving your head exposed without any protection. Try pulling on the chin strap with your fingers. If the strap loosens even to the slightest extent, you haven’t properly closed the chin strap in the double-D buckles. If so, repeat the steps described opposite. Never ride with the chin strap open, inadequately closed or poorly positioned. Even if the cheek pads give the impression that the helmet is providing secure support, it would still come off during an accident, thus leaving your head exposed without any protection. Should you have any doubts concerning the helmet closing system, don’t use the helmet. Ask your retailer for advice.

DOUBLE-D RING

  1. Slide the longest part of the chin strap through the two rings, while verifying that the comfort pad is correctly positioned between the strap and your neck (see Figure A).

  2. Form a loop with the end of the chin strap around the outer ring and reinsert it into the inner ring (see Figure B).

  3. Pull on the strap end until the chin strap is taut. The chin strap must be positioned against the neck and not under the chin. It must be as tight as possible without causing pain or obstructing breathing (see Figure C).

  4. Clip the pressure on the free end of the strap to prevent any flapping of the strap in the wind (see Figure D).

PUTTING ON THE HELMET

Once the chin strap is released, you have to take hold of the two sections by the buckles and hold them slightly apart to facilitate the passage of your head. While carrying out this movement, you are advised to keep the two sections of the chin strap apart with your thumbs so that they are properly positioned. Position the protective parts of the chin strap buckle correctly and fasten it in accordance with the recommendations that are appropriate to the versions and country.

Check that the tension and therefore the positioning of the helmet are correct for all positions. If this is not the case, you must continue to adjust the length until you achieve the ideal positioning.

REMOVING THE HELMET

Release the chin strap. Hold the two sections slightly apart as for putting the helmet on and remove the helmet. WARNING! If you cannot properly fasten your chin strap or obtain the correct fit of your helmet on your head, DO NOT USE THE HELMET! See your retailer for assistance.

If you are not sure that you properly replaced the comfort padding, DO NOT USE YOUR HELMET. Contact your retailer for assistance or advise.

REPLACING THE INTERIOR PADDING

  • Reposition the cheek pads by passing the chin straps through the slit in the foam (Fig. A)

and clip all the studs from the two cheek pads ( Fig. B).

  • Start the operation by sliding the plastic tabs of the front of the head section in its housing beginning with one side (Fig. C).

  • Position the textile correctly. Reattach the rear part.

  • Raise the cheek pad by inserting the back piece and then replacing the hooks on the side parts one after the other (Fig. D).

Check that the headgear has been placed in the right direction.

CLEANING THE INTERIOR

The interior textile parts are washable; it is important to strictly follow the instructions below to avoid damaging them:
The cheek pads and head section must be hand washed in warm, soapy water (about 30°). Do not use  aggressive detergents but either a product for delicate materials in low dilution or household soap.

It is essential to dry textile and foam parts completely before reinstalling them in the helmet.

They must be air dried at room temperature. Never use a clothes dryer or other heat source. Never iron textile parts.

For parts with a leather appearance or textiles attached to safety elements, use a slightly damp sponge or cloth and household soap and rinse with clean water.

Do not allow too much water to come into contact with polystyrene parts.

You must insure that all interior parts are perfectly dry before using the helmet.

WARNING! Damaged interior padding will compromise the fit of your helmet on your head and could allow the helmet to come off your head in an accident, resulting in a head injury or death.

THE TEXTILE PARTS

The textile and foam parts providing comfort to the Race-R Pro GP 06 make it easy for you to appreciate the performance of your helmet to the full.

The parts in contact with the skin are made in a fabric that is guaranteed to feel pleasant, to absorb perspiration well and to resist wear satisfactorily.

We treat surfaces to limit the risk of mould and bacteria.

WARNING! Although they are selected for their quality of resistance and satisfactory wear, all the comfort padding is subject to normal wear and tear. The rate of wear and tear will depend on use, care and maintenance, the length of use and the degree of acidity of your perspiration. Wear and tear of the comfort padding will eventually change the fit of your helmet on your head. If that occurs, you must immediately replace the helmet or padding. See your retailer for advice.
