Product Usage Instructions

Headset Connection

Ensure you have the OPC-2401 headset adapter. Follow these steps to connect the headset:

  1. Push [ENT SET] for 1 second to enter Set mode.
  2. If BT SET is not displayed, push [MR MW] until it appears.
  3. Select BT SET, then push [ENT SET].
  4. Select ON, then push [ENT SET].
  5. Select BT SET and then Pairing. The radio will search for a headset. Push [CLR] to cancel searching.
  6. If successfully connected, “SUCCESS” will be displayed. Push [CLR HOME] twice to exit Set mode.

Quick Operation Guide

In case of an emergency, follow these steps:

  1. Push the emergency button (bottom right of the keypad), then [0 121.5] (next to the key).
  2. Use PTT to call on the emergency frequency.

Side Keys

For side key functions:

  1. PTT SWITCH: Use for transmitting.
  2. SET SQUELCH: Adjust to the point where noise is muted.

Program Frequencies into Memory

To store frequencies in memory:

  1. Push [MR MW] to enter Memory mode.
  2. Select a channel to delete using [Y] or [Z].
  3. Push , then [CLR]. Confirm deletion by pushing [ENT SET].

EMERGENCY
Push F found at the bottom right of the keypad), then [0 121.5] (found next to the F key). Use the PTT to call on the emergency frequency.
GENERAL
If the button marking on the keypad is in white, push to activate. For secondary functions push F , then the desired orange-marked key.

KNOB (1)

Rotate to turn the radio power on or off and to adjust the audio level.

SIDE KEYS

  • (2) PTT SWITCH
  • (3) SET SQUELCH

Push [SQL ] or [SQL ] (3) to the point where noise is just muted. Push [CLR] to return to frequency mode.

  •  WEATHER (wx), ON or OFF
    Push Fa, then push [4 wx-ALT] to turn weather alert ON or OFF.

    • If you are experiencing an interruption every 5 seconds, turn your weather alert OFF. The “WX” symbol will disappear from the screen.
  • LOCK, ON or OFF (4)
    Push the KEY LOCK switch [mO] to turn ON.
    Push and hold switch 2 seconds to turn OFF.

  • SCAN, ON or OFF
    Push F, then push [2 SCAN].
    Push [ ] or [ ] to change the scan direction.
    To stop scan, push [CLR]. To resume,push (CLR], FO, [2 SCAN).
    Push [MR Mw] to enter the Memory mode.
    Push (F then push 2 scaN].

    • To stop scanning, push [CLR].
  • CLEAR ALL
    Push [CLR] twice.

PROGRAM FREQUENCIES INTO MEMORY

  • SELECT THE DESIRED FREQUENCY
    Push [CLR], then select the desired frequency by using the keypad.
    Push F, then push [MR mw to enter the
    Memory Write mode.
    “MCH” will blink at the top on screen.
    Push [ ] or [ ] to select the channel to enter the frequency.
    Push [ENT sET] to save the frequency into
    Memory channel.

  • ENTER BANK SELECTION MODE & SELECT A GROUP
    Push the following to write a new bank: F [MR MW], (F, [3 GRP] then select Group location and [ENT SET].
    Push F, then push [3 GRP].
    Push [ ] or [ ] to select the group.
    Push [ENT SET] to save.

  • FINISH WRITING TO MEMORY
    Now that the channel and bank have been selected, push [ENT SET] to save and end.

  • FIND FREQUENCY IN MEMORY
    Push [MR Mw] and push [ ] or [ ] to scroll through the memory channels, pause at each channel and the frequency will momentarily appear.

TAG (SELECT SCAN) CHANNELS

TAG channels is Icom’s way of selecting and deselecting channels to be scanned.

  • TAG SETTING
    Select whether or not to tag selected channels for scanning. Untagged channels are skipped during a scan.
    Push [MR Mw] to enter the Memory mode. Select a channel to tag or untag.
    Push F, then push [9 TAG) to tag or untag the channel. TAGI is displayed if the channel is tagged.

  • HOW TO DELETE CHANNELS IN MEMORY
    Push [MR Mw] to select Memory mode. Push [ ] or [ ] to select a channel to delete. Push and then push [CLR].
    “DELETE?” is then displayed. Push [ENT sET] to delete the channel.

SIDE TONE FUNCTION

When using a third-party headset, the transceiver outputs your transmitted voice to the headset for monitoring, and a headset adapter is required.

  • SETTING THE SIDE TONE LEVEL
    Push [PTT] to turn the transmit mode “ON”.
    During transmit, push [ ] or [ ] to adjust the level.

    • “ST-O” is OFF / “ST-10” is the maximum level.

HEADSET CONNECTION

  • Connect headset through the optional OPC-2401 headset adapter.

  • TURNING ON BLUETOOTH®
    Push F, then hold down [ENT SET] for 1 second to enter Set mode. If not displayed, push [MR mw] until “BT SET” appears.
    Select “BT SET”, then push [ENT SET]. Select “ON”, then push [ENT SET].

  • PAIRING TO A BLUETOOTH® DEVICE-A16B
    Push F , hold down [ENT SET] for 1 second to enter Set mode. Push [MR Mw] and scroll to “PAIRING”, then push (ENT SET].

  • Select “BT SET” and then “Pairing”.
    The radio searches for a headset. Push [CLR] to cancel searching.
    “SUCCESS” and “ ” is displayed if the headset or device is correctly connected. Push [CLR HOME] twice to exit the Set mode.
