- Doors’ height between 6.5ft-7.4ft = Your door’s height is 7ft
- Doors’ width between 7.5ft-8.4ft = Your door’s width is 8ft
- Doors’ width between 8.5ft-9.4ft = Your door’s width is 9ft
- Doors’ width between 15.5ft-16.4ft = Your door’s width is 16ft
Step 2: Confirm the Weight of the Door
Check the garage door manufacturer for the weight. If no weight information
is available, follow the below steps:
- Unplug the garage door opener.
- Disconnect the operator arm from the garage door and ensure that the pin has been disengaged from the operator attachment bracket.
- Remove both extension springs while the door is in the open position. Use vice grips on each side of the door under the rollers to prevent the door from crashing to the floor. WARNING: Falling doors could cause severe injuries or death.
- Place a bathroom scale under the center of the door and slowly lower the door onto the scale. Take multiple readings to ensure an accurate weight. NOTE: If it is difficult to measure the weight of the door, you could verify the color of old springs.
