Installation and Connections
Before installing or connecting the unit, please read the following and pages 2 and 3 of this manual thoroughly for proper use.
Warning
-
MAKE THE CORRECT CONNECTIONS.
Failure to make the proper connections may result in fire or product damage. -
USE ONLY IN CARS WITH A 12-VOLT NEGATIVE GROUND.
(Check with your dealer if you are not sure.) Failure to do so may result in fire, etc. -
BEFORE WIRING, DISCONNECT THE CABLE FROM THE NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL.
Failure to do so may result in electric shock or injury due to electrical shorts. -
DO NOT SPLICE INTO ELECTRICAL CABLES.
Never cut away cable insulation to supply power to other equipment. Doing so will exceed the current carrying capacity of the wire and result in fire or electric shock. -
DO NOT USE BOLTS OR NUTS IN THE BRAKE OR STEERING SYSTEMS TO MAKE GROUND CONNECTIONS.
Bolts or nuts used for the brake or steering systems ( or any other safety- related system), or tanks should NEVER be used for installations or ground connections. Using such parts could disable control of the vehicle and cause fire etc. -
KEEP SMALL OBJECTS SUCH AS BATTERY OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN.
Swallowing them may result in serious injury. If swallowed, consult a physician immediately. -
DO NOT INSTALL IN LOCATIONS THAT MIGHT HINDER VEHICLE OPERATION, SUCH AS THE STEERING WHEEL OR GEARSHIFT.
Doing so may obstruct forward vision or hamper movement etc. and result in serious accidents.
Caution
-
HAVE THE WIRING AND INSTALLATION DONE BY EXPERTS.
The wiring and installation of this unit require special technical skills and experience. To ensure safety, always contact the dealer where you purchased this product to have the work done. -
USE SPECIFIED ACCESSORY PARTS AND INSTALL THEM SECURELY.
Be sure to use only the specified accessory parts. Use of other than designated parts may damage this unit internally or may not securely install the unit in place. This may cause parts to become loose resulting in hazards or product failure. -
ARRANGE THE WIRING SO IT IS NOT CRIMPED OR PINCHED BY A SHARP METAL EDGE.
Route the cables and wiring away from moving parts (like the seat rails) or sharp or pointed edges. This will prevent crimping and damage to the wiring. If wiring passes through a hole in metal, use a rubber grommet to prevent the wire’s insulation from being cut by the metal edge of the hole. -
DO NOT INSTALL IN LOCATIONS WITH HIGH MOISTURE OR DUST.
Avoid installing the unit in locations with a high incidence of moisture or dust. Moisture or dust that penetrates this unit may result in product failure.
Precautions
- Be sure to disconnect the cable from the(-) battery post before installing your TUE-T252TX. This will reduce any chance of damage to the unit in case of a short circuit.
- Be sure to connect the color-coded leads according to the diagram. Incorrect connections may cause the unit to malfunction or damage the vehicle’s electrical system.
- When making connections to the car’s electrical system, be aware of the factory-installed components (e.g. on-board computer). Do not tap into these leads to provide power for this unit. When connecting the TUE-T252TX to the fuse box, make sure the fuse for the intended circuit of the TUE-T252TX has the appropriate amperage. Failure to do so may result in damage to the unit and/or the vehicle. When in doubt, consult your ALPINE dealer.
- The TUE-T252TX uses female RCA-type jacks for connection to other units (e.g. amplifier) having RCA connectors. You may need an adaptor to connect other units. If so, please contact your authorized ALPINE dealer for assistance.
IMPORTANT
Please record the serial number of your unit in the space provided below and
keep it as a permanent record. The serial number plate is located on the
bottom ofthe unit.
Preparation
- Park the vehicle in a flat, safe place. Apply the parking brake, then remove the ignition key.
- Check the included parts and organize the tools and installation instructions.
- Disconnect the battery’s minus terminal.
Installation
Installing TV TUNER
- This TV TUNER can be placed inside the trunk, on the kick panel of the front passenger’s seat or underneath. However, to avoid unnecessary signal wiring, it is better to mount the TV TUNER as close as possible to the Display.
- DO NOT MOUNT THE UNIT IN LOCATIONS THAT WILL BE IN THE VICINITY OF MOISTURE OR EXTREME HEAT (such as the engine compartment).
- Make sure you have all the necessary parts and tools. Then, begin mounting according to one of the following procedures:
Mounting
This installation method is suggested when the mounting location does not
permit drilling. USE THIS METHOD ONLY WHEN THE UNIT IS MOUNTED ON A HORIZONTAL
SURFACE. NEVER MOUNT A UNIT UPSIDE-DOWN USING THE VELCRO TAPE.
- Remove the adhesive protective paper from one side of the Velcro fasteners.
- Attach the exposed adhesive side to the underside of the unit, in a central location. Do not cover the serial number.
- Make sure the mounting location is clean, dry and free from contaminants.
- Remove the protective strip from the other side of the Velcro pad.
- Press the unit onto its mounting location.
Attaching with screws
-
Place the unit in the location chosen for installation.
-
Mark the screw locations using the unit as a template
-
Drill a hole less than 3mm in diameter.
WARNING
When you are drilling a hole in the car body, be careful not to damage pipes, tanks electrical wiring etc… It might cause an accident or a fire -
Firmly attach the unit using 4 of the supplied self-tapping screws (M4X14)
TV Antenna Mounting Method
- Determine the mounting location. Determine the mounting locations at the left and right corners of the rear window. (Fig.1 ).
- Peel off the base paper and put on the antenna. Clean dirty of the mounting locations, and then put on the antenna.
- Pinch the antennas and fix them onto the window panel, by using the attached antenna fixing clamps. (Fig. 2)
NOTES
- Before putting on the antenna, heating the mounting locations with a hair dryer will ensure good results.
- Do not apply any humidity and force within 24 hours after putting on the antenna.
- To keep a good reception, be sure to put the antenna cable firmly to the body side of the car (metal part) when wiring it from the element part to the side of the car room.
- Reception may be a bit worse in a car whose window glasses are of the type not allow airwaves to go through.
Remote Control Sensor Unit Mounting Method
NOTES
- The remote control sensor unit is used only when operating TUE-T252TXfrom the rear monitor
- When mounting the unit with double-sided adhesive tape, make sure the mounting surface is dry and free from dirt or grease.
- Take the double-sided adhesive tape out on the patched Velcro fastener of the remote control sensor unit.
- Before completing the sensor mounting, make sure the location selected is within the operating range of the remote control. Peel off the backing of the adhesive tape and press the sensor onto the selected mounting location, or inside of the remote control holder.
To prevent external noise from entering the audio system.
- Locate the unit and route the leads at least 10cm away from the car harness.
- Keep the battery power leads as far away from other leads as possible.
- Connect the ground lead securely to a bare metal spot (remove the coating if necessary) of the car chassis.
