Telephone Base Installation
- Plug one end of the telephone line cord into a telephone jack or a DSL filter (required for DSL high-speed Internet service, not included).
- Route the telephone line cord through the designated slot on the telephone base.
- Plug the large end of the telephone base power adapter into a power outlet not controlled by a wall switch.
- Route the power adapter cord through the designated slot on the telephone base.
- Raise the antenna on the telephone base.
- Plug the small end of the telephone base power adapter into the power adapter jack on the back of the telephone base.
- Plug the other end of the telephone line cord into the telephone jack on the back of the telephone base.
Charger Installation
- Plug the power adapter into a power outlet not controlled by a wall switch.
- Caution: Use only the provided power adapter(s) for this product. To obtain a replacement, visit www.telephones.att.com or call 1 800-222-3111 (1 866-288-4268 in Canada).
Battery Installation
- Step 1: Plug the battery connector securely into the socket inside the handset battery compartment. Insert the supplied battery with the label “THIS SIDE UP” facing up.
- Step 2: Align the cover flat against the battery compartment, then slide it upwards until it clicks into place.
- Step 3: Charge the handset by placing it face forward in the telephone base or charger. The CHARGE light on the handset will be on during charging.
Note: It is recommended to charge the battery for ten hours continuously before initial use.

Quick Reference Guide – Handset
- CHARGE light: Indicates charging status when the handset is in the telephone base or charger.
- REDIAL/PAUSE: Press to make or answer a call.
- PHONE/FLASH: Press and hold to set or dial your voicemail number.
- TONE/SPEAKER: Press to make or answer a call using the speakerphone.
- DIR/VOLUME: Press to navigate menus or adjust volume.
- MENU/SELECT: Press to access menu options or select an option.
- OFF/CANCEL: Press to end a call or cancel an action.
- QUIET# (pound key): Press and hold to enter the QUIET mode setting screen or deactivate QUIET mode.
- EQ: During a call or playback, press to change the audio quality.
- MUTE/DELETE: Press to mute the microphone during a call or delete items.
- PUSH TO TALK: Use the intercom feature by pressing this button.

- IN USE indicator: Shows if the telephone line is in use or not.
- Message counter: Displays the number of messages or other answering system information.
- X/DELETE: Press to skip a message or delete items.
- /REPEAT: Press to repeat the previous message.
- /ANS ON/OFF: Press to turn the built-in answering system on or off.
- /PLAY/STOP: Press to start or stop message playback.
- FIND HS: Press to page all handsets when the phone is idle.

Charger installation

Battery installation
- Install the battery, as shown below. Charge your handset(s) before initial use. The battery is fully charged after ten hours of continuous charging.
Step 1
- Plug the battery connector securely into the socket inside the handset battery compartment. Insert the supplied battery with the label THIS SIDE UP facing up, as indicated.
Step 2
- Align the cover flat against the battery compartment, then slide it upwards until it clicks into place.

- Charge the handset by placing it face forward in the telephone base or charger.
- The CHARGE light on the handset is on during charging.

Initial settings
- We recommend you program your telephone system before use.
- The following are a few examples of common features to set before using the telephone.
- Refer to the Handset settings and Answering system settings in the Abridged user’s manual or the online Complete user’s manual for detailed instructions on setting all telephone features.
Reset language to English
- If you have accidentally changed the screen display language and want to switch it back to English, follow the steps mentioned below.
- MENU in idle mode -> enter 364#.
Telephone operation
Caller ID
- This product supports caller ID services offered by most telephone service providers.
- The telephone stores caller ID information of the last 50 incoming calls in the telephone base.
- This information is common to all devices.
Missed call indicator
- When a handset is in idle mode and has new or missed calls, its screen shows XX Missed calls.
- You can erase the missed call indicator either by reviewing the call log one by one or by pressing and holding CANCEL in idle mode.
Call block
- If you have subscribed to the caller ID service, you can use the call block feature to reject certain calls automatically. The call block list can store up to 20 entries. This feature is only available on the cordless handset.
Directory
- The directory can store up to 50 entries, which are shared by all system handsets.
Answering system
About the answering system and voicemail
- Your telephone has separate indicators for two different types of voice messages: those left on the built-in answering system and those left at your telephone service provider’s voicemail.
- To listen to messages recorded on the built-in answering system, refer to the Message playback section; to listen to voicemail, contact your telephone service provider for more information.
