Connecting to TP-Link Deco X50-5G Router
Step 1: Insert the Nano SIM card into the SIM card slot and plug in the power.
Step 2: Download and install the TP-Link Deco app
Scan the QR code below or go to Google Play or the App Store to download the
app. Install the app on your Android or iOS smartphone or tablet.
Step 3: Open the Deco app, then create and log in your TP-Link ID. Turn on Wi-Fi and connect to the Router’s default SSID. Select your Deco model as “X50-5G”, set up for “4G/5G Router mode” by following the instruction in Deco app. Set up your SIM card and create your own Wi-Fi network, connect your smartphone/tablet to the Deco’s Wi-Fi, then press “Connect” to complete the network set up.

What to do if TP-Link Deco X50-5G router cannot start normally?
- Check if the TP-Link Deco X50-5G router power is normal.
- Try to connect different power socket to the router, if the LED light up when use different power socket, it means the problem is on the socket.
- After tried above troubleshooting, if the LED does still not light up, it should be a hardware or power adapter issue of the router. Please take the relevant products to the designated maintenance centre for inspection or repair.

Why can’t I register a TP-Link account?
- Ensure you have internet access when you sign up for the TP-Link ID.
- Confirm you have entered a valid e-mail address and password.
- The e-mail address you entered has been registered already.

What to do if I fail to login to Deco app?
- Check whether your device is connected to the internet.
- Make sure the TP-Link ID and Password are both entered correctly.
- Please update the latest Deco app and try to log in again.

What to do if the Wi-Fi signal is weak?
- Please try moving the Deco router to another location to obtain a better Wi-Fi signal.
- If you are experiencing slow speed issues only on your devices, simply turning off and then turning on the Wi-Fi on your device may help. If the issue persists, restart the router, and try again.

How to install a 5G external antenna on the Deco X50-5G router?
- When using the 4G/5G router mode, you can manually install the 5G external antenna** according to the instructions in the Deco app to enhance the 5G signal of the Deco router.
- Supported frequency and bands of the 5G external antenna:
- Frequency : 700MHz~2690MHz and 3300MHz~4200MHz
- Bandwidth : N1/N3/N5/N7/N8/N20/N28/N38/N40/N41/N77/N78/N79
- The 5G external antenna has an RP-SMA connector type.
- Note : Product accessories do not include 5G external antenna. Customers need to purchase it separately or can contact TP-Link customer service for inquiries. HKBN cannot guarantee the performance when using any 3rd parties of 5G external antennas.

How to choose between 5GHz Wi-Fi and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi?
- The 5GHz Wi-Fi provides faster speeds with less interference, but it has weaker wall penetration and requires devices that support it. It’s recommended for high-speed downloads on devices like computers, smartphones, and tablets. On the other hand, the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi has better coverage and works with most devices, but it may experience more interference. It’s suitable for smart home devices like speakers, fans, and robotic vacuum cleaners.
- To configure Wi-Fi settings in the Deco app, go to “More > Wi-Fi Settings > Network > Advanced > Band”. You can choose between “2.4GHz Only”, “5GHz Only”, or both. Click “Save” after making your selection.

How to change my Wi-Fi password?
Log in to Deco App, go to “More > Wi-Fi Settings > Password”, enter the new password and click “Save” to change the password. -
What to do if I forget my Wi-Fi password?
Log in to Deco App, go to “More > Wi-Fi Settings > Password”, then press ” ” to show the password. -
How to reset Deco router to factory defaults?
Use a pin or similar object to press and hold the RESET button which is on the bottom of the router for 2 seconds. Release the RESET button when the LED starts flashing yellow. Wait for the LED to turn solid blue. Once the LED is solid blue, you can proceed to set up your internet connection again. -
How to check the firmware of Deco router?
Launch the Deco app, tap “More > System”, and then you will see the current firmware version of the Deco. If there is new firmware available, you can view the information about the new firmware. Click on “Update Deco” to proceed.
Important: Do NOT turn off the power during the firmware upgrade process.
