DEE ZEE DZ 3008 Running Board

NOTICE : This product requires the use of sheet metal screws. To use these screws, drill a hole as specified in the instructions. Once the hole has been drilled, tighten the screw firmly into the hole with a wrench. Caution should be taken not to overtighten the sheet metal screws.
INSTRUCTIONS : Please take time to read all instructions care-fully before beginning installation.
NOTE : After drilling, Dee Zee recommends putting a sealant or rust inhibitor around all holes drilled into the body panel of the vehicle.

Tools Required
- Two 7/16 Wrenches

NOTICE: A ssemble the 10″ left and right angle braces with the 7″ flat bars by matching the two holes in each part. Fasten them together using two 1/4″ x 3/4″ hex head bolts (J), 1/4″ flat washers and 1/4″ hex nuts (N). Assemble the 8 1/2″ left and right angle braces the same way using the 8″ flat bar braces. These L-brace assemblies will be used later in this instruction.

Assemble
STEP – 1
Attach a mudguard to the front and rear of each running board using two 1/4″ x 3/4″ hex head bolts (J), washers and nuts (N).
STEP-2
Passenger Side: Position the running board assembly to the vehicle. Clamp the mudguards to each wheel well lip so that approximately 2 1/4″ of the mudguard extends outside of the wheel well. NOTE: The notch in the running board should be placed to the rear of the vehicle.
STEP-3
Passenger Side: Level the running board and drill three 3/16″ holes through the mudguard and the vehicle wheel well lip. Attach the mudguard to the vehicle wheel well lip using three 1/4″ x 1″ sheet metal screws (E).
STEP -4
Passenger Side: Position the three back lip mounting brackets evenly
along the backlip of the running board and the bottom of the vehicle rocker
panel. Use the existing holes in the mounting brackets as a guide to drill two
3/16″ holes up through the rocker panel. Attach the mounting brackets to the
vehicle rocker panel using two 1/4 x 1″ sheet metal screws.
Drill one 1/4″ hole through the running board and the mounting bracket. Attach
the mounting bracket to the running board back lip using one 1/4″ x 1″
carriage head bolt, 1/4″ flat washer and 1/4″ hex nut per bracket.
STEP -5
Passenger Side: At approximately 22″ back from the front of the running board, locate the underbody support panel on the vehicle. Use a pair of locking pliers and bend out the horizontal lip closest to the front of the vehicle. Position a 10″ L-brace assembly to the bent out portion of the underbody support panel and to the running board as shown. Using the holes in the L-brace assembly as a guide, drill two 1/4″ holes up through the running board step and attach the L-brace assembly to the running board using two 1/4 X 1″ carriage head bolts, 1/4″ flat washers and 1/4″ hex nuts. Use the holes in the top part of the L-brace assembly as a guide to drill three 1/4″ holes through the underbody support panel. Attach the L-brace assembly to the underbody support panel using three 1/4 x 3/4″ hex head bolts, 1/4″ flat washers and 1/4″ hex nuts.
STEP -6
Passenger Side: At approximately 50″ back from the front of the running board, position a 10″ L-brace assembly to the bottom of the running board as shown. Using the holes in the L-brace as a guide, drill two 1/4″ holes up through the running board and attach the L-brace assembly to the running board using two 1/4 x 1″ carriage head bolts (C), 1/4″ flat washers and 1/4″ hex nuts (N).
Note: Some vehicles come equipped with a heat shield on the passenger side of the vehicle. The heat shield will need to be notched out to allow the L-brace assembly to be mounted correctly.
STEp-7
Passenger Side: Position the body mounting bracket to the 10″ L-brace assembly
and the vehicle inner side panel as shown. Use the holes in the body mounting
bracket as a guide to drill two 3/16″ holes through the vehicle inner side
panel. Attach the body mounting bracket to the vehicle inner side panel using
1/4 x 1″ sheet metal screws (E).
Use the holes in the L-brace assembly as a guide to drill two 1/4″ holes
through the body mounting bracket. Attach the body mounting bracket to the
L-brace assembly using two 1/4 x 3/4″ hex head bolts (J), 1/4″ flat washers
and 1/4″ hex nuts (N).
Note: Repeat STEP 6 and STEP 7 at approximately 72″ from the front of the running board.
STEP-8
Driver Side: Position the running board assembly to the vehicle. Clamp
the mudguards to each wheel well lip so that approximately 2 1/4″ of the
mudguard extends outside of the wheel well.
Note the position of the running board in the illustration.(See illustration
in Step 2 for outside position).
STEP-9
Repeat Step 3 for the driver side of the vehicle and then proceed to Step 10.
STEP-10
Driver’s Side: Approximately 28″ back from the front of the running board, locate the underbody support panel. Using a pair of locking pliers, bend out the horizontal lip closest to the front of the vehicle. Position a 8 1/2″ L-brace assembly to the bent out portion of the underbody support panel and to the running board as shown. Using the holes in the L-brace assembly as a guide, drill two 1/4″ holes up through the running board step and attach the L-brace assembly to the running board using two 1/4″ x 1″ carriage head bolts, 1/ 4″ flat washers and 1/4″ hex nuts. Use the holes in the top part of the L-brace assembly as a guide to drill three 1/4″ holes through the underbody support. Attach the L-brace assembly to the underbody support using three 1/4 x 3/4″ hex head bolts, 1/4″ flat washers and 1/4″ hex nuts.
Note: See illustration in Step 5 to complete this step.
STEP-11
Driver’s Side: Approximately 50″ back from the front of the running board position a 8 1/2″ L-brace assembly to the bottom of the running board. Using the holes in the brace as a guide, drill two 1/4″ holes up through the running board step and attach the L-brace assembly to the running board using two 1/4 x 1″ carriage head bolts, 1/4″ flat washers, and 1/4″ hex nuts.

STEP-12
Driver’s Side: Position the body mounting bracket to the 8 1/2″ L-brace
and vehicle inner side panel as shown. Using the holes in the body mounting
bracket as a guide, drill two 3/16″ holes through the vehicle inner side
panel. Attach the body mounting bracket to the vehicle inner side panel using
1/4″ x 1″ sheet metal screws.
Use the holes in the top of the L-brace assembly as a guide to drill two 1/4″
holes through the body mounting bracket. Attach the L-brace assembly to the
body mounting bracket using two 1/4 x 3/4″ hex head bolts, 1/4″ flat washers,
and 1/4″ hex nuts.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS: To maintain the bright finish of your Dee Zee britetread aluminum running boards, clean with a mild detergent.
