Therapy - Overview

HELLO THERE.
Joel and I are athletes who suffered from severe ACL injuries a few months apart. We purchased multiple pieces of wellness equipment for our in-home rehab but were left disappointed and frustrated by wellness and recovery devices that made big promises but gave no support, no well-thought-out plan to follow, and no results. And that’s how Lifepro came about, and why the Wellness Recovery collection was created — we’ve set out to change all of that. It’s why every piece of equipment bearing our name not only undergoes rigorous scrutiny to make sure it delivers on power and efficacy but comes with built-in support from our ‘guiding angels’ and a built-in lifetime warranty so that you’re never left hanging.

Welcome to Lifepro.
We’re in this together now.

Chiropractors, acupuncturists, and physical therapists use the ancient tradition of cupping therapy to help patients recover from a muscle injury, decrease pain, and improve relaxation. Today, electronic suction cupping provides the same benefits and more. Red light therapy also accomplishes these goals. 630–670 nm red light is absorbed by the skin at a high rate, making it especially effective for improving blood circulation, reducing inflammation, and helping cells make additional energy to repair themselves.

The Lifepro RelievaCup Pro Smart Cupping Device with Red Light Therapy can help you experience therapeutic benefits safely from the comfort of your own home—no need for expensive trips to the chiropractor or massage therapist. The RelievaCup Pro combines cupping, red light, and massage therapies for maximum wellness and recovery. Customize your treatment session with five levels of suction intensity and five different suction modes to help you achieve myofascial release.

Use the RelievaCup Pro for 12–20 minutes and see results within days. Its small size makes it perfect to take with you on the go. Enjoy performance recovery and pain relief anytime, anywhere!

Redefine wellness and experience the transformative power of the Lifepro RelievaCup Pro:

  • Recover from injury : breaks down scar tissue, boosts circulation, and stimulates cells to regenerate.
  • Alleviate pain: reduces muscle pain.
  • Boost mood: reduces stress and increases relaxation

TESTING FOR SKIN SENSITIVITY

Before your first treatment, it is important to perform a skin sensitivity test to ensure you won’t experience any adverse reactions to light therapy.
To do a sensitivity test:

  1. Press the On/Off button for 2 seconds to turn on the RelievaCup Pro.
  2. Hold the cup to your inner arm, with the edge of the cup about ½ inch away from your skin. Do not press the cup to the skin. You are only testing for red light sensitivity.
  3. When the timer shows 7 minutes remaining, press the On/Off button for 2 seconds to stop the test.
  4. If your skin feels uncomfortable or hot at any point during the test treatment, stop using the RelievaCup Pro immediately.
  5. Wait at least 6 hours after the sensitivity test. If your skin becomes red and/or itchy, you may be sensitive to light therapy, and you should not continue to use the RelievaCup Pro.

NOTE : See a list of contraindications (people who should not use this device) on page 18.

WHAT IS PULSED-LIGHT THERAPY?
Pulsed-light therapy is phototherapy that uses rapid pulses of light to produce improved results. The device LEDs rapidly turn on and off at a particular frequency (for example 10Hz). The frequency is a measure of the pause between one “on” time and the next.
Emerging research shows that the short pause between light pulses encourages cells to regenerate more efficiently, meaning pulsed light has a greater effect on cell regeneration and recovery.

WARNING

  • Do not use the device near the womb if you are pregnant.
  • Do not use if you have a pacemaker or another electronic medical implant.
  • Pulsed-light therapy may affect users who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy or other photo-sensitivities. If you or anyone in your household has ever had symptoms related to epilepsy (seizures or loss of consciousness) when exposed to flashing lights, consult your physician before using this device.
  • Do not look into the RelievaCup Pro opening. Avoid direct eye contact with the red light therapy LEDs. Never disassemble the device.

CAUTION

  • Check the areas you are treating frequently and stop immediately at the first sign of pain or discomfort, or if you begin to feel unwell.
  • Do not use this product in combination with ointments, salves, liniments, balms, or other topical pain-relievers that contain ingredients that produce heat (such as capsaicin), as this may result in burns.
  • Do not wear metal accessories, such as jewelry, in the treatment area, as the metal may heat and cause burns.
  • Keep the device and accessories away from children and pets.

TIPS FOR USE

  • Sit or lie comfortably during use. Do not stand or walk around while using the device to keep it from falling off during treatment.
  • Use on clean, bare skin; do not use over clothing.
  • It may be difficult to create an airtight seal when using over hairy areas.
  • If you wish to use slide cupping therapy, apply oil or lotion to your skin (make sure it does not contain capsaicin). Allow the oil or lotion to absorb into your skin before use. Then you can slide the cup along the treated muscle.
  • We recommend using the device for just 2 minutes on the lowest settings the very first time you use it. For the first week, use the RelievaCup Pro for one 10-minute session, per treated area. After that, you can slowly increase the session length if desired. We recommend 10–18-minute sessions, once or twice a week.
  • The device will automatically power off after 12 minutes of use unless you have selected Mode 5, which has a working time of 18 minutes. Bruising is normal. The cup marks may be present for up to 10 days.
  • Wait until the cup marks are gone before starting another cupping session in the same area.
  • Do not use more than one time per day, per treated area of the body, and do not use over existing cup marks.
  • Drink plenty of water to help your body recover.
  • You may not feel results for a few days or a few sessions.
  • Wipe down the cup with an alcohol-soaked pad after each use. Wipe the RelievaCup Pro device with a soft, dry cloth as needed.

  WARNING

  • Do not use the device near the womb if you are pregnant.
  • Pulsed-light therapy may affect users who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy or other photo-sensitivities. If you or anyone in your household has ever had symptoms related to epilepsy (seizures or loss of consciousness) when exposed to flashing lights, consult your physician before using.
  • Do not use if you have a pacemaker or another electronic medical implant.

USING THE QUICK-RELEASE STRAP

The quick-release strap functions as a quick and easy way to stop the cupping session if you find that the intensity becomes too strong. We recommend attaching the quick-release strap any time you use the device, especially when using the device in an area where you cannot easily reach the control buttons to stop the session. To use, simply insert your finger into the ring at the end of the strap and pull firmly to break the suction seal on your skin.
When using the RelievaCup Pro on your back or another hard-to-reach area you may attach the strap to the included lanyard. Then you can place the lanyard around your neck or loop it around your wrist.
The strap also helps avoid damage to the device if suction suddenly releases, such as at the end of the cupping session, when the suction button is pressed, or if the suction seal was not airtight.

Therapy - TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: WHAT IS CUPPING THERAPY?
A: Cupping therapy has been practiced in eastern medicine for thousands of years.
Traditionally, the practitioner heated a cup and placed it on the body. When the cup
cooled, it created suction, causing blood to flow to the raised skin’s surface. This
action breaks tiny blood vessels, activating the natural healing process. Today,
electronic suction provides the same benefits and more. With dynamic suction, or
alternating between suction and release, you can release myofascial tension to
increase mobility, relieve pain, and release stress.

Q: WHAT IS RED LIGHT THERAPY?
A: Red light therapy (RLT), also called phototherapy uses low-wavelength red light
to treat at the surface and below the surface of the skin. Red light is absorbed
by the body’s cells, particularly the mitochondria, and used to make energy, which
stimulates cell regeneration and repair. Red light therapy is a highly- effective, non-
invasive, chemical-free therapy that can be used to safely and painlessly heal and
rejuvenate many parts of the body.

Q: WHAT ARE SOME BENEFITS OF CUPPING AND RED LIGHT THERAPY?
A: The benefits of cupping therapy and red light therapy are very similar, though
cupping not only brings blood to the area but also breaks blood vessels, eliciting an
inflammatory and then an anti-inflammatory response.
The benefits of cupping and red light therapy include increased blood flow,
improved muscular healing and recovery, reduced myofascial tightness and binding,
decreased pain and muscle stiffness, reduced stress, and energized lymphatic
system, aiding in detoxification and boosting the immune system.

Q: WHAT ARE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF THESE THERAPIES?
A: Although generally safe for most people, there are some possible side effects.
You could experience:

  • Mild discomfort from either therapy.
  • Red-light sensitivity. Always test for skin sensitivity before use.
  • Bruising from cupping. This is fairly normal and can last up to 10 days. Always start with the lowest level settings and for just a short time initially to see how your body reacts. Do not use cupping therapy again until the bruises are gone.

Q: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DYNAMIC AND SLIDE CUPPING?
A: Dynamic cupping uses alternating suction and release. The cup is left in one position. With slide cupping, the cup has continuous suction but is slid slowly along the skin, usually in the direction of the muscle fibers. This is especially good for muscular and fascial tightness. It is best done with oil and may require another person. The RelievaCup Pro can be used for both dynamic and slide cupping therapy.
