To set the torque, follow these steps:

  1. Set the main scale to the value with the marking 60 and the fine setting to 0. The torque wrench is now set to 60 Nm (Fig. 1).
  2. Rotate the handle and set the fine-setting scale to 6. The torque wrench is now set to 66 Nm (Fig. 2).
  3. Lock the setting by pressing in the locking mechanism until you hear a click.

Proper Use

To use the product correctly:

  1. Put the required socket or wrench attachment on the square drive.
  2. Operate the tool with an even application of force and stop tightening the screw once you hear and/or feel a click (Fig. 3).

Maintenance, General Information, and Storage

The torque of the wrench may be calculated using the following formula: TW=(TExL)/(L+A) (Fig. 4).

Note: Bear in mind that the accuracy of the above calculation is affected by several variables, such as the length of the adapter, the extension, and the torque wrench or a change in the position of the hand.

FAQ

  • Q: Can I make adjustments or repairs myself?
  • A: To ensure the safety and reliability of the product and the validity of the warranty, all repair, inspection, or replacement work, including maintenance and special adjustments, must only be carried out by technicians of the authorized service department of the manufacturer.

PRECAUTIONS

Warning: Read the manual carefully before use. Failure to follow the instructions may result in tool damage. Store the manual in a safe place for future reference.

  • Use the tool only for tightening screws/bolts and never for unscrewing them.
  • The workpiece and/or tool may be damaged if the torque wrench is uncalibrated.
  • Do not use any improvised extension rods.
  • Do not continue to use damaged or slipping tools as this may cause injury.
  • The ratchet mechanism may slip and break if it is: dirty, unsuitable for use, worn parts are used or the reversing lever has not been moved fully into a new position.
  • When working, always wear appropriate eye protection to prevent injury.

OPERATION

Setting the torque

  • To unlock the handle, hold the tool firmly in your hand and pull out the locking mechanism at the end of the handle.
  • Set the desired torque by rotating the handle in a clockwise or anticlockwise direction.

Example: Setting the torque to 66 Nm (Fig. 2-3)

  1. Set the main scale to the value with the marking “60” and the fine setting to “0”.
  2. The torque wrench is now set to 60 Nm (Fig. 1).
  3. Rotate the handle and set the fine setting scale to “6”.
  4. The torque wrench is now set to 66 Nm (Fig. 2).
  5. Lock the setting by pressing in the locking mechanism until you hear a click.

Proper use

  1.  Put the required socket or wrench attachment on the square drive.
  2. Operate the tool with an even application of force and stop tightening the screw once you hear and/or feel a click.

MAINTENANCE – GENERAL INFORMATION – STORAGE

  • The tool must be regularly calibrated to guarantee its accuracy. Calibrations should be performed after about 5.000 cycles or after 12 months.
  • If you have not used the tool for a lengthy period, operate it a few times with a low torque setting so as to distribute the lubricant in the internal mechanism.
  • Never clean the tool with solvents. Rub the tool clean with a dry cloth.
  • Do not immerse the tool in liquids.
  • The tool’s internal mechanism is provided with a permanent lubricant during production. Do not try to lubricate the internal mechanism.
  • Do not exert any pressure on the tool beyond the set torque. This might lead to damage to the tool or to the workpiece.
  • Store the tool in the protective packaging provided for this purpose.
  • The tool should be stored with the torque at the lowest setting.
  • When extensions or adapters are used, the torque value changes. An extension increases the effective length of the tool. The new torque performance of the wrench may be calculated with the following formula: TW=(TExL)/(L+A). (Fig. 4)

Note: Bear in mind that the accuracy of the above calculation is affected by several variables, such as the length of the adapter, the extension and the torque wrench or a change in the position of the hand.
