SPECIFIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

WARNING! DO NOT let comfort or familiarity with product (gained from repeated use) replace strict adherence to the tool safety rules. If you use this tool unsafely or incorrectly, you can suffer serious personal injury.

  1. Use the correct tool for the job. This tool was designed for a specific function. Do not modify or alter this tool or use it for an unintended purpose.
  2. Do not use the tool if any parts are damage broken or misplaced. Repair or replace the parts.
  3. This product is not a toy. Do not allow children to play with this item.

INSTALLATION PRECAUTIONS

  1. Wear ANSI-approved safety goggles and heavy-duty work gloves during installation.
  2. Keep installation area clean and well lit.
  3. Keep bystanders out of the area during installation.
  4. Do not install when tired or when under the influence of drugs or medications.
  5. Install on negative ground 12 VDC systems only.
  6. Use the correct lights and electrical setup for your trailer. If the vehicle is over 80 in. wide, install 3 additional red marker lights (sold separately) onto the rear of the unit.
  7. Ensure that the lights are no closer than 6 in. and no farther apart than 12 in., centre to centre.
  8. After mounting, use wire nut connectors (sold separately) to connect all 3 leads together.
  9. Connect to the brown wire at the back of either tail light provided in this kit.

UNPACKING

WARNING! Do not operate the tool if any part is missing. Replace the missing part before operating. Failure to do so could result in a malfunction and personal injury.

Remove the parts and accessories from the packaging and inspect for damage. Make sure that all items in the parts list are included.

ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION

Numbered references in parenthesis (#1) refer to the included Parts List. Dashed numbers in parenthesis (Fig. 1-1) refer to a specific point in an illustration or image.

TOWING VEHICLE INSTALLATION

IMPORTANT! Use the blue splice connectors to make the connections in steps 1 to 3.

  1. Connect the brown wire of the trunk harness (#4) to the towing vehicle’s daytime running lights wire.
  2. Connect the yellow wire of the trunk harness to the vehicle’s left stop and turn light.
  3. Connect the green wire of the trunk harness to the vehicle’s right stop and turn light.
  4. Attach the white ground wire to the towing vehicle’s frame.

TRAILER INSTALLATION

CAUTION! Install this kit on a fully assembled trailer only.

  1. Mount the left-hand tail light (#1) on the trailer’s left rear. The side marker (Fig. 1-1) should point outwards, away from the trailer.

  2. Mount the license plate bracket (#5) underneath the left-hand tail light.

  3. Mount the right-hand tail light (#2) on the trailer’s right rear. The side marker (Fig. 2-1) should point outwards, away from the trailer.

  4. Use the metal frame clips to mount each half of the Y-harness (#4) down each side of the trailer.

  5. Run one yellow wire and one brown wire down the left side of the trailer.

  6. Run one green wire and one brown wire down the right of the trailer.

  7. Connect the yellow and brown wires to the left-hand tail light using the wire nut connectors.

  8. Connect the green and brown wires to the right-hand tail light using the wire nut connectors.

  9. Attached the white ground wire to the trailer tongue or frame.
    NOTICE! These trailer lights require a grounded metal trailer frame.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

  1. Maintain the tool with care. A tool in good condition is efficient, easier to control and will have fewer problems.
  2. Inspect the tool components periodically. Repair or replace damaged or worn components. Only use identical replacement parts when servicing.
  3. Maintain the tool’s labels and name plates. These carry important information. If unreadable or missing, contact Princess Auto Ltd. for replacements.

WARNING! Only qualified service personnel should repair the tool. An improperly repaired tool may present a hazard to the user and/or others.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Visit a Princess Auto Ltd. location for a solution if the tool does not function properly or parts are missing. If unable to do so, have a qualified technician service the tool.
