INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Safety Information

WARNING: Carefully read and understand the information given in this manual before beginning the assembly and installation. Failure to do so could lead to electric shock, fire, or other injuries which could be hazardous or even fatal.
WARNING: Risk of fire or electric shock. Installation of this LED Downlight requires a person familiar with the construction and operation of the light fixture’s/luminaire’s electrical system and the hazard involved. If not qualified, do not attempt installation. Contact a qualified electrician.
WARNING: Do not make or alter any open holes in an enclosure of wiring or electrical components during kit installation.
WARNING: To prevent wiring damage or abrasion, do not expose wiring to edges of sheet metal or other sharp objects.
NOTICE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:

  • Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
  • Increase the separation between the equipment and the receiver.
  • Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.

Pre-Installation

PLANNING INSTALLATION

Before beginning assembly, installation or operation of product, make sure all parts are present. Compare parts with the package contents list. If any part is missing or damaged, do not attempt to assemble, install or operate the product. Contact customer service for replacement parts. If you are unfamiliar with electrical installations, we recommend you contact a qualified electrician to do the installation.

  • Power Drill with hole saw attachment

  • Wire Strippers

WARNING: RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK. Ensure the electricity to the wires you are working on is shut off. Either remove the fuse or turn off the circuit breaker before removing an existing light fixture or installing the new one.

  1. Preparing to Mount The Downlight
    Make sure the power is turned off at the source to the location where the LED downlight (A) will be installed. If installing the LED downlight (A) in a preexisting hole:

    • Remove the existing can or fixture and set aside since it will not be needed.
    • Measure the ceiling hole to make sure it is the correct size for the fixture. If installing the LED downlight (A) in a new ceiling location:
    • Place the hole template (C) over the desired location and trace the outline with a pencil.
    • Cut out the marked opening in the ceiling with a hole saw (not included).
      NOTE: 1/2 or 3/4″ drywall recommended for easy installation, supports up to 1″ drywall.
  2. Driver Wiring

    • Open the hardwire box (B) swing cover and remove the appropriate knockout(s).
    • Insert the electrical supply cable through knockout and secure with a cable connector (sold separately).
    • Using wire nuts, connect white wire of cable to white wire of box. Connect black wire of cable to black wire of box.Connect ground wire of cable to ground wire of box.
    • Place all wiring and connections back into the box and close the cover.
  3. Adjusting the Color Temperature of the Light
    This LED downlight allows you to customize the color temperature of the light using five settings from warm white to daylight.

    • Choose your favorite correlated color temperature (CCT) from five options: 2700K warm white, 3000K soft white, 3500K neutral white, 4000K bright white, or 5000K daylight.
    • Move the toggle switch on the side of the LED downlight (A) to make your selection before inserting the LED downlight (A) into the ceiling.
  4. Positioning The Hardwire Box
    Place the electrical box (B) through the cut-out hole in the ceiling and position it where desired.

NOTE:
New construction applications: Hardwire box shall be firmly secured to studs, joists, or similar fixed structural units(Fig.1). Remodel applications: Do not require the hardwire box to be firmly secured after the mounting plates, studs, joists, or structural units have been concealed.

  1. Fixture Installation
    • Connect the fixture to the hardwire box by inserting and twisting the male/female Connectors.
    • Push spring loaded clips on the fixture upwards and insert fixture base into the Mounting hole. Release the clips and fixture will be pulled flush to the celling.
    • Once assembly is complete, turn on power to confirm fixture is working properly

Care and Cleaning

CAUTION: Before attempting to clean the fixture, disconnect the power to the fixture by turning the breaker off or removing the fuse from the fuse box.

  • Clean the fixture with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Do not use cleaners with chemicals, solvents, or harsh abrasives.
  • Do not use liquid cleaner on the LEDs, LED driver, or wiring inside the light fixture.

Troubleshooting

WARNING: Before doing any work on the fixture, disconnect power to the light fixture. Minor problems often can be fixed without the help of an electrician.

Problem Possible Cause Solution
The fixture will not light. The power is off. Ensure the power supply is on.
The circuit breaker is off. Ensure the circuit breaker is in the on position.
There is a bad connection. Check to ensure proper wire connections are made.

Contact a qualified electrician.
There is a defective switch.| Contact a qualified electrician.
The fuse blows or the circuit breaker trips when the light is turned on.| The wires are crossed or the power wire is grounding out.| Check the wire connections.Contact a qualified electrician or call Consciot customer service 1-855-955-7007.
The light fixture flickers or makes a buzzing sound.| The dimmer circuit is not compatible with the product.The dimming circuit is set outside the dimming range of the product.| Check the product page for a list of compatible dimmers.Turn or slide the dimmer switch to adjust the light output until the flickering or buzzing stops.
