Overview

ELRO LF70-20-P Duo LED Floodlight 20W Motion fig-1

Introduction

The LED Floodlight with PIR detector is a fully automatic security floodlight. During the hours of darkness the built-in detector turns on the floodlight when it detects the movement of in the PIR coverage area. During daylight hour the built-in sensor saves energy by deactivating the floodlight.
Note: Please read this entire instruction manual before you start to install the floodlight.

Safety precautions

  •  Installation must be performed by a skilled/competent person.
  • There are no serviceable parts inside.
  • Not suitable to be used with dimmer switches.
  • DO NOT install when it is raining.
  • During installation or servicing always turn off power.
  • The unit is supplied with a pre-wired supply cable this must be used and must not be removed.

Choosing a mounting location

  •  For the best results, mount the floodlight 1.8 – 2.4m above the ground.
  • Avoid aiming the PIR detector at pools, heating vents, air conditioners or objects that may change temperature.
  • Avoid aiming the PIR detector at trees or shrubs or where the movement of pets or animals may be detected.
  • DO not allow sunlight to fall directly onto the front of the PIR detector, otherwise poor triggering response may occur.
  • Less sensitive to a heat source that moves directly towards the PIR detector (1 page 2).
  • Consider the detection range/area when choosing a mounting location.

Installation & Wiring instruction

Drill the holes and insert suitable wall plugs. Fix the mounting bracket tot the wall using suitable screws (2 page 2).

  1. An internal single pole wall switch is recommended to allow easy control of the LED Floodlight (3 page 2).
  2.  If the connection is made outdoors a suitable IP box must be used to make the connections.
  3. The LED floodlight is a sealed unit. Do not remove the pre-wired supply cable. This will invalidate the warranty.

First time power up

  1.  Reinstate the power supply to the floodlight and switch the floodlight on form the wall switch if installed. The floodlight will turn on for around 2 seconds and then turns off.
  2. Walkthrough the PIR detector coverage area. The floodlight turns on when you move through the detection area. Wait for the floodlight to turn off before moving again to test the PIR detector.
  3.  When you are happy with the coverage area you can set the floodlight to the desired TIME period and LUX level.

Turn the TIME control knob towards the + sign to increase how long the floodlight stays on (up to about 12 minutes) (FIGURE 4). The recommended setting for Time control is approximately midpoint of the scale (approximately 5 minutes).

The LUX control can be adjusted between T (always triggered regardless of light level) and the moon symbol
(triggered on only during hours of darkness). The recommended setting for the Lux control is fully turned to the moon symbol. IF the Lux control is left in the T position the floodlight will be triggered on by the PIR detector regardless of the ambient light level.

Troubleshooting

The floodlight does not turn on.
  • Check Lux setting
  • Check wall switch is on
  • Confirm wiring is correct
Floodlight remains on
  •  Check time setting.
  • Cover PIR detector with black insulating tape. If after the timer set time expires the floodlight turns off this indicates that the PIR detector can see a moving heat source. Eg: Open window, boiler outlet, open exterior door or moving branches or bushes retaining heat from the daytime period.
Floodlight flashes on and off
