Product Usage Instructions
- Inbetriebnahme Ihrer Lokomotive (Starting locomotive operation)
- To start operating your locomotive, follow these steps:
- Unwrap the model: Carefully remove the loco from the packaging using the foil (Fig. 1).
- Important Note: Before using the model, oil the bearings of the coupling rods to ensure smooth running and prevent damage to the locomotive (see fig. 12).
- Operating Instructions: Before use, it is recommended to let the loco run forwards and backwards without load for approximately 30 minutes each to optimize its circuit and tractive power. The minimum radius for this model is R3 (419.6 mm) or R2 (358 mm) for the ROCO track system (models without tube protection pistons should only be driven carefully on R2) (fig. 2). Your locomotive will run smoothly on clean tracks only. We recommend using item no. 46400, ROCO track cleaning van, or item no. 10002, ROCO track cleaning rubber, to remove heavy dirt.
- Fittings: The locomotive can be operated with different couplings (fig. 3). We recommend using the ROCO close coupling.
- Included Accessories: In the accessory bag, you will find small kits to be fitted on your locomotive. Please mount them carefully. Use glue only if indicated (fig. 2+3).
- Running in digital mode: Refer to fig. 6 for instructions.
- A.C. pick up: See fig. 6a for instructions. Wartung und Pflege des Modells (Maintenance of the model) To ensure the longevity of your model, regular maintenance is necessary (approximately every 30 hours of operation).
- Follow these steps: Uncouple the locomotive and tender (fig. 7).
- Cleaning of wheel contacts: Use a small brush to remove dirt from the spots marked in fig. 10.
- Lubrication: Apply tiny oil drops to the spots marked in fig. 12. Before lubrication, dismantle the tender body (fig. 8). We recommend using item no. 10906, Roco oiler. For lubricating the gear parts (e.g., cogwheels, worm), we recommend using our Roco special grease (item no. 10905).
- Note: Do not oil these parts when using our grease.
- FAQ
- Q: What should I do if my locomotive is not running smoothly?
- A: Before taking into service your model, make sure to oil the bearings of the coupling rods as described in the operating instructions. Additionally, clean the wheel contacts and ensure that the tracks are clean for optimal performance.
- Q: Can I use different couplings with this locomotive?
- A: Yes, it is possible to operate the locomotive with different couplings. We recommend using the ROCO close coupling.
- Q: How often should I perform maintenance on the model?
- A: It is recommended to service the model regularly, approximately every 30 hours of operation. This will help ensure its longevity and optimal performance.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION
Unwrap model: Take the loco carefully out of the packing with the help of the foil (fig. 1).
Very important!
- Before taking into service your model these bearings of the coupling rods must be oiled as otherwise there would be the risk of bad running qualities of damage to he locomotive (see fig. 12).
- Operating instructions: Before use is advisable to let the loco go around about 30 minutes forwards and 30 minutes backwards without load, to obtain an optimal circuit and best tractive power.
- The smallest radius this model should run is R3 (419,6 mm) or rather R2 (358 mm) of the ROCO track system (model without tube protection pistons would run only if driven very carefully on R2) (fig. 2).
- Your locomotive will run smoothly on clean tracks only. For this purpose, we recommend using item no. 46400, ROCO track cleaning van, or item no. 10002, ROCO track cleaning rubber, for removing heavy dirt.
- Fittings: Operation is possible with different couplings (fig. 3).
- We recommend using the ROCO close coupling.
- In the enclosed accessory bag you will find small kits to be fitted on your locomotive. Please mount them cautiously.
- Attention! Use glue only if indicated (fig. 2+3).
- Running in digital mode: see fig. 6
- For operational safety, wheelsets with high wheel flanges were installed on this model.
- These can be exchanged for wheelsets with lower wheel flanges (Fig. 5+10).
- Please refer to the spare parts sheet for the item numbers of the wheelsets.
- This applies to the leading wheelset, trailing wheelset and tender wheelsets.
- A.C. pick up: see fig. 6a
Maintenance of the model
To enjoy your model for a long time, it is necessary to service it regularly (i.e. after it has been in operation for approximately 30 hours). Uncouple the locomotive and tender first (fig. 7).
-
Cleaning of wheel contacts: Wheel contacts easily get dirty on tracks that are not entirely clean. Use a small brush to remove dirt from spots marked in fig. 10.
-
Lubrication: Apply tiny oil drops to the spots marked in Fig. 12.
- Before lubrication dismantle the tender body (fig. 8).
-
We recommend using item no. 10906, Roco oiler. For lubrication the gear parts (e.g. cogwheels, worm) we would recommend our Roco special grease (item no. 10905).
Attention: Please do not oil these parts when using our grease. -
Change of lights: see fig. 9
-
Steam generator application (fig. 4):
- First remove the smokestack (fig. 7) and then push in the Seuthe steam generator no. 10 (running in digital mode: use no.11).
-
Change of traction tyre: Remove the bogie blind (fig. 10).
- Remove the traction tyre using a pin or a fine screwdriver (fig. 11).
- When pressing on the new traction tyre please avoid twisting it.
-
Carbon Brush Changing: First, remove the tender body (fig. 8), and then the motor (fig. 13).
- Assembly: During assembly please take care of the correct position of contacts.
Don‘t throw your box in the dustbin. If your model is not in use this box will keep it safe. If kits are mounted on a wagon it will be slightly tight when placing it in the original box. This guarantees safe transport. It is therefore recommanded to cut out certain parts of the original box. To keep the model like the original, smaller parts (e.g. buffers) had been manufactured separately from the body and are not tightly fixed on it. Therefore they probably can get lost. In this case you certainly may reorder them but a complaint would not be acceptable
Safety instructions
- This product may only be used in closed rooms.
- Do not expose the model to direct sunlight, severe temperature fluctuations or high air humidity.
- Attention! At an incorrect use there exists danger of hurting because of cutting edgesand tips
