The OG Recessed Door Pull System is an amazing new way to add inner door
handles to your Polaris General. Now grab some tools and let’s get to it!
We like to start off by cleaning the door panel arm rest area, creating a nice
surface to lay masking tape on. The tape will help keep the plastic looking
nice, as well as facilitate an easy to see cut path.
Position the reversible marking template in place, tucking it as far back from
the edge while still keeping it flat. Use tape to securely hold the jig in
place while tracing the cutout.
With a marker, draw around the inner cutout shape, no need to mark the screw
holes. A 1/2″ drill, hole cutter or step-bit works great to get smooth
corners. Start by drilling the corners first, as this will give you a smooth
transition in the next step. Now let’s cut! Cutting can be daunting & tedious
but we have found the easiest way is with an oscillating multi-tool and fresh
blade. Follow your lines to connect the corner holes. By leaving a small
amount connected on your last cut, the blank can easily be plucked &
discarded. Next, remove the tape and prepare to fit the OG door pull into
place.
While not necessary, cleaning the edges with a sharp knife or deburring tool
will leave a professional finished edge.
You’re almost done! Continue on the next page to finish up the installation!
If you’ve made it to this page, then you haven’t given up and the hard part is
over! Depending on how closely you were able to cut along the lines, the OG
door pull will either fit perfectly or the hole may need some slight
persuasion with a file.
Once the cutout opening is perfectly shaped, it’s time to drop the handle unit
into place. The ideal fit will slide right in without too much force or
excessive slop. Before drilling the mounting holes, make sure your OG handle
will fit right in and positioned correctly.
Once you are satisfied with the fitment, keep the OG door pull in place as a
guide. Use the supplied drill bit to drill out the screw holes. We then like
to remove the door pull unit and clean up any debris from drilling. Finally,
set your door pull into place and screw in the two t20 torx screws. Take
caution to not over tighten the screws as the plastic can strip with excessive
force.
Follow the exact same steps for the other door. Once completed, go ahead, sit
in your general & pull the doors closed a couple dozen times because these OG
recessed door pulls are absolutely awesome!
