General Safety

General safety instructions for power tools

WARNING! Read all safety notices, instructions, illustrations, and technical data that have been provided with this power tool. Omissions in compliance with safety directions and instructions can cause electrical shock, fire and/or severe injuries.
Retain all safety directions and instructions for future use.
The term “Power Tools” used in the safety instructions refers to mains- operated power tools (with power cord) and to battery-operated power tools (without power cord).

  1. WORK AREA SAFETY

  2. a) Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.

  3. b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks that may ignite the dust or fumes.

  4. c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

  5. ELECTRICAL SAFETY

  6. a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.

  7. b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.

  8. c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.

  9. d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling, or unplugging the power tool. Keep the cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.

  10. e ) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. The use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.

  11. f) If operation of the power tool in a damp environment is unavoidable, please use a residual current circuitry. The use of a residual current circuitry reduces the risk of an electric shock.

  12. PERSONAL SAFETY

  13. a ) Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.

  14. b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust masks, non-slip safety shoes, hard hats, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.

  15. c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-po-sition before connecting to a power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energizing power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.

  16. d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.

  17. e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.

  18. f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can be caught in moving parts.

  19. g) If dust extraction and collection devices can be installed, make sure that these are connected and used correctly. The use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.

  20. h) Do not allow yourself to be lulled into a false sense of security and do not disregard the safety rules for power tools, even if you are familiar with the power tool after using it many times. Careless action can lead to serious injuries within a fraction of a second.

  21. POWER TOOL USE AND CARE

    • a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.

    • b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

    • c) Remove the plug from the wall socket and/or remove the rechargeable battery before you change the device’s settings, change accessory parts, or put away the power tool. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.

    • d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

    • e) Look after the power tool and application tool carefully. Check for misalignment or binding
of moving parts, breakage of parts, and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.

    • f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.

    • g) Use the power tool, accessories tool bits etc. under these instructions, take-
ing into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.

    • h) Keep handles and grip surfaces dry, clean, and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grip surfaces do not permit safe operation and control over the power tool in unexpected situations.

  22. CAREFUL HANDLING AND USE OF BATTERY DEVICES

    • a) Charge the batteries only in chargers that are recommended by the manufacturer. Risk of fire if a charger that is suitable for a specific type of battery is used with other batteries.
    • b) In the power tools, use only the batteries designed for the purpose. The use of other batteries may result in injuries and risk of fire.
    • c) Keep the unused battery away from paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, and other small metal objects, which could cause bridging of the contacts. A short circuit between the battery contacts may cause burns or fire.
    • d) If used incorrectly, liquid may leak from the battery. Avoid contact with this. In the event of accidental contact, rinse off with water. If the liquid gets into your eyes, seek medical assistance. Leaking battery fluid may cause skin irritations or burns.
    • e) Do not use damaged or altered batteries. Damaged or altered batteries can be unpredictable and lead to fire, explosion or risk of injury.
    • f) Do not expose batteries to fire or elevated temperatures. Fire or temperatures over 130 °C can cause an explosion.
    • g) Follow all instructions for charging and never charge the battery or the battery-powered tool outside the temperature range stated in the operating instruc-tions. Incorrect charging or charging outside the permitted temperature range may destroy the battery and increase the risk of fire.
  23. SERVICE

  24. a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

  25. b) Never repair damaged batteries. All battery repairs should be carried out by the manufacturer or authorized customer service centers only.

Safety instructions for hammer

  2. a) Wear ear protection. Noise exposure can cause hearing loss.
  3. b) Use additional handles if they are supplied with the power tool. Loss of control can result in injuries.
  4. c) Ensure the power tool is well-supported before use. This power tool generates high torque. Not supporting the power tool securely during operation may lead to loss of control and injury.
  5. d) Hold the power tool by the insulated gripping surfaces when performing work in which the drilling tool may come into contact with hidden wiring. Contact with a live wire can also cause a change in metal parts of the tool and result in an electric shock.
  6. Safety information for using long drills with hammer drills
    • a) Always begin drilling at a low speed and when the drilling tool is in contact with the workpiece. Higher speeds can cause the drill to bend slightly when rotating freely without contact with the workpiece and can also cause injury.
    • b) Do not apply excessive pressure to the drill. Only apply pressure lengthwise along the drill. Drills can bend and break or cause a loss of control, thus resulting in injuries.

Residual risks
Even if properly operating and handling this electric tool, some residual risks will remain. Due to its construction and build, this electric tool may present the following hazards:

  • a) Ear damage if working without ear protection.
  • b) Damage to your health caused by swinging your hands and arms when operating the appliance for longer periods or if the unit is not held or maintained properly.

Warning! During operation, this electric tool generates an electromagnetic field which, under certain circumstances, may impair the functionality of active or passive medical implants. To reduce the risk of serious or lethal injuries, we recommend that persons with medical implants consult their doctor and the manufacturer of their medical implant before operating the machine.

Hand in the batteries at a used battery collection point where they are recycled in an environmentally friendly manner. For more information, please contact your local waste management provider or our service center.
Dispose of batteries in a discharged state. We recommend covering the contacts with an adhesive strip to protect against short circuits. Do not open the battery.

Guarantee

Dear Customer,
This equipment is provided with a 5-year guarantee from the date of purchase.
In case of defects, you have statutory rights against the seller of the product. These statutory rights are not restricted by our guarantee presented below.

Terms of Guarantee
The term of the guarantee begins on the date of purchase. Please retain the original receipt. This document is required as proof of purchase.
If a material or manufacturing defect occurs within five years of the date of purchase of this product, we will repair or replace – at our choice – the product for you free of charge. This guarantee requires the defective equipment and proof of purchase to be presented within five years with a brief written description of what constitutes the defect and when it occurred. If the defect is covered by our guarantee, you will receive either the repaired product or a new product. No new guarantee period begins on the repair or replacement of the product.

Guarantee Period and Statutory Claims for Defects
The guarantee period is not extended by the guarantee service. This also applies to replaced or repaired parts. Any damages and defects that are already present at the time of purchase must be reported immediately after unpacking. Repairs arising after the expiry of the guarantee period are chargeable.

Guarantee Cover
The equipment has been carefully produced by strict quality guidelines and conscientiously checked before delivery.
The guarantee applies to all material and manufacturing defects. This guarantee does not extend to cover product parts that are subject to normal wear and may therefore be considered as wearing parts (e.g. keyless drill chuck) or to cover damage to breakable parts (e.g. switches, batteries). This guarantee shall be invalid if the product has been damaged, used incorrectly, or not maintained. Precise adherence to all of the instructions specified in the operating manual is required for proper use of the product. Intended uses and actions against which the operating manual advises or warns must be categorically avoided. The product is designed only for private and not commercial use. The guarantee will be invalidated in case of misuse or improper handling, use of force, or interventions not undertaken by our authorized service branch.
