Instructions for Use
For your safety
- Before using this product, carefully read these Instructions for Use and those of the breathing apparatus used.
- Strictly follow the Instructions for Use. The user must fully understand and strictly observe the instructions. Use the product only for the purposes specified in the Intended use section of this document.
- Do not dispose of the Instructions for Use. Ensure that they are retained and appropriately used by the product user.
- Only trained and competent users are permitted to use this product.
- Follow the local and national guidelines pertaining to this product.
- Use only original Dräger parts and accessories or the proper functioning of the product may be impaired.
- Do not use a faulty or incomplete product. Do not modify the product.
- Notify Dräger in the event of any product or component fault or failure.
Description
2.1 Product overview
These instructions for use describe particle filters, gas filters, combination
filters, pre-filters and odourfilters which are summarised under the name
Dräger X-plore ® 1) 2) 8000 Filter . The Dräger X-plore 8000 Filters are part
of the Dräger X-plore 8000 purifying respirators.
2.2 Intended use
The filters are suitable only for use with the Dräger X-plore® 8000 purifying
respirator.
The particle filters remove particles from the air breathed by the wearer
within the specified limit values.
Gas filters are used to reduce certain damaging vapours and gases in the
inhaled air.
Combination filters are used if particles as well as gases and vapours may
occur.
Pre-filters are used to protect the particle filter and the particle filter
component of the combination filter against strong contamination (e.g. by
splashes of paint, chips or similar). The pre-filters on their own are not
suitable for use against coarse dust.
Odour filters can be combined with particle filters to filter the offensive
odors created by organic gases and vapours, as well as acidic gases (e.g.
sulphur dioxide, hydrogen chloride, chlorine), from the inhaled air. The
occupational exposure limit for these substances may not be exceeded,
otherwise suitable gas filters must be used. When using Odour filters, a
suitable splash guard cover must be used.

2.3 Restriction on the intended use
Do not use gas filters of type A1 or A2 against low-boiling compounds. This
also applies to the corresponding multi-use filters.
2.4 Approvals
In combination with the Dräger X-plore 8000 purifying respirator, the filters
are approved in accordance with:
- EN 12941:1998+A1:2003+A2:2008
- EN 12942:1998+A1:2002+A2:2008
- (EU) 2016/425
- Regulation 2016/425 on personal protective equipment, as amended to apply in GB
- AS/NZS 1716:2012

2.5 Explanation of symbols

R The “R” mark means that it has been demonstrated through EN 12941 and
EN 12942 that the particle filter or the particle filter component of the
combination filter are suitable for reuse after aerosol exposure (use during
several working
shifts).
SL The “SL” mark means that the particle filter can be used against both
dusts and aerosols.
2.6 Criteria for the selection of filtering devices (according to the

- Maximum service life 50 hours (in accordance with EN 12941 and EN 12942, marking: Hg-P: max. 50 h).
Use
3.1 Preconditions for use
Before use, ensure the following:
- Do not use filters if they have passed the shelf life date (indicated on the filter).
- Store the filter in its original packaging until use.
- The suitability of the filter must be checked: colour codes, labelling, use-by date.
- Ensure that the colour point at the gas and combination filter is undamaged.
- Check the reusability of the filters with regard to use and the prevailing contaminants; contact Dräger if necessary.
NOTICE
Handle the filter with care: do not knock or drop the filter. Do not penetrate
the particle filter with pointed objects.
Air from the filter can be warm and the filter housing may become very hot
during use. This shows that the filter is functioning correctly.
3.2 Before use
Remove the blue transport protection and check the seal before use.
3.3 During use
3.3.1 General
A general guide to duty periods cannot be given, as the duty period depends
very strongly on the Ambien conditions, e.g. nature and concentration of the
contaminant, air requirement of the user, humidity and temperature.
3.3.2 Changing the filter
See Instructions for Use of the fan filter unit.
Transportation
Transport the filter in its original packaging only.
Storage
Store the filter as follows:
- Store the filter in its original packaging dry and free of contamination and keep it from direct sunlight or heat radiation.
- Recommended storage temperature -10 °C to 60 °C at a maximum relative humidity of 95%
- Do not store the filter in explosive environments.
Disposal
Dispose of the filter in accordance with the applicable waste disposal
regulations.
