  • The travel mug is designed for use with this appliance. It must never be used on a range top.
  • Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot liquids.
  • Do not operate the coffee maker without water.
  • Do not clean the travel mug or carafe with cleansers, steel wool pads, or other abrasive material.
  • Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycles.
  • WARNING – Risk of Fire or Electric Shock. Do not remove the cover of the unit. No user-serviceable parts inside. Repair should be done by authorized service personnel only.
  • When using the carafe, make sure the tabs of the removable lid are in position so the lid closes properly. When removing the lid, hold the handle firmly to prevent overturn and spillage of hot liquid.
  • Appliances with Glass Containers.
    • The carafe is designed for use with this appliance. It must never be used on a range top. (Unless specific instructions for use on a range top are provided and include the precautions to be observed.)
    • Do not set a hot carafe on a wet or cold surface.
    • Do not use a cracked carafe or a carafe that has a loose or weakened handle.

CAUTION

  • This machine is intended for household use only. Any servicing other than cleaning and user maintenance should be performed by the nearest authorized KRUPS Service Center. Visit our website at www.krups.com or contact your respective country’s Consumer Service department for the service center nearest you. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not attempt to disassemble the machine.
  • Repair should be done by an authorized KRUPS Service Center only.
  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by an authorized KRUPS Service Center to avoid a hazard.

SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS

  • A short power cord or a detachable power cord is provided to reduce the risks of becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord accidentally.
  • Longer detachable power cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
  • If a long detachable power cord or an extension cord is used:
    • the marked electrical rating of the detachable power cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance.
    • the longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over accidentally.

POLARIZATION INSTRUCTIONS

  • This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock this plug Is intended to fit Into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • After use, there will be some residual heat in the product. Be careful when touching or moving the product. Wait a few minutes for the product to cool down before brewing again or cleaning.
  • Do not exceed the scope of use in order to avoid other dangers or personal injury. Follow the instructions to use the product.
  • This appliance is not designed to be used by children or people without knowledge or experience with the product unless they are supervised or given prior instructions concerning the use of the appliance by someone responsible for their safety.
  • Burns can occur from touching hot water or steam. Exercise caution.
  • All machines are subject to stringent quality control. Practical tests using machines taken at random are conducted and this may explain any slight marks or coffee residue showing prior to use.
  • Do not pour liquids other than water and descaling solutions specified in this manual into the water tank.
  • Protect the machine against humidity and freezing.
  • Do not pour water into the appliance if it is still hot.
  • Always place your coffee maker on a flat, stable, heat resistant work surface away from water splashes and any external sources of heat.
  • Never place your travel mug in a microwave oven or on a stove top.
  • Never put your hand inside the travel mug.
  • In the interest of improving products, KRUPS reserves the right to change specifications without prior notice.
  • A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a long cord.
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  • It is not intended to be used in the following applications, and the guarantee will not apply for: staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments, farm houses, in hotels, motels and other residential type environments, and bed and breakfast type environments.
  • The coffee maker shall not be placed in a cabinet when in use.
  • Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

USING THE MACHINE FOR THE FIRST TIME

  • Unbox the coffee machine, removing all packaging materials and stickers. (fig. 1)
  • Clean the coffee machine with a damp cloth or sponge. (fig. 2)
  • Plug to the socket. (fig. 3)

Note: Before using your coffee maker for the first time, run a brew cycle without coffee to rinse.

BREWING COFFEE INTO TRAVEL MUG

  • Fill the water tank with cold water to desired water level (Max 15fl oz). (fig. 4)
    Note: Do not exceed the Max line (15fl oz) when brewing into travel mug. Doing so could cause travel mug to overflow.

  • Insert the permanent filter. (fig. 5)

  • Add the desired amount of ground coffee directly into the filter, then close the top cover. We recommend using the provided measuring spoon and adding four scoops per full mug of coffee. (fig. 6)

  • Place the removable drip tray on base of coffee maker. Remove the lid of the travel mug and place the travel mug on the drip tray. Press the On/Off button. The button will light up and brewing will begin. (fig. 7 & 8)

  • The coffee maker and light turn off automatically after brewing is finished. Allow coffee to finish dripping from the unit before removing your travel mug and securing the lid.(fig. 9)

Wait a few minutes before making a second mug of coffee. Please allow the brewing chamber to fully cool down and remember to empty the used coffee grinds prior to making your next cup.

NOTE: There will be slightly less coffee in your travel mug than the amount of water added, as the ground coffee will absorb some of the water.

CAUTION: Be careful when opening the coffee maker lid after brewing as this area will be hot and steam built up in the machine can cause burns. Use the lift tab located on the front of the lid and be careful with hands and face so they do not come in contact with any steam or hot water.

Reheating the coffee

  • Do not put the travel mug into the microwave.

BREWING COFFEE INTO CARAFE (OR YOUR OWN MUG)

  1. Fill the water tank with cold water to desired water level (Max 15fl oz). (fig. 10)
    Note: Do not exceed the Max line (15fl oz) when brewing into carafe. Doing so could cause carafe to overflow. If you are brewing into your own mug, we recommend you use your mug to fill the water tank so coffee does not overflow.

  2. Insert the permanent filter. (fig. 11)

  3. Add the desired amount of ground coffee directly into the filter, then close the top cover. We recommend using the provided measuring spoon and adding four scoops per full carafe of coffee. (fig. 12)

  4. Place the carafe tray on base of coffee maker. (fig. 13)

  5. Place the carafe with its lid (or mug of your choice) on the drip tray. Press the On/Off button. The button will light up and brewing will begin. (fig. 14 & 15)

  6. The coffee maker and light turn off automatically after brewing is finished. Allow coffee to finish dripping from the unit before removing the carafe (or your mug). (fig. 16)

PREPARING POUR-OVER COFFEE

  1. Pour cold water into a kettle (not included) and bring to a boil.

  2. Remove the lid from the carafe and place the pour-over filter holder on top of the carafe, or a mug of your choice. (fig. 17 & 18)

  3. Insert the permanent filter or a junior basket filter inside the pour-over filter holder. (fig. 19)
    Note: For best results, we recommend using paper filters for this brew method.

  4. Pour some boiled water over the filter to preheat the brew basket and carafe. Pour out the water from the carafe or your mug.

  5. Add the desired amount of ground coffee directly into the filter. (fig. 20)

  6. Starting at the center of your ground coffee, gently pour boiled water (just enough to wet all the coffee). Let rest for 30 seconds. (fig. 21)

  7. Continue pouring boiled water slowly and gently over the ground coffee, pausing for 30 seconds after each pour. Continue until you have your desired amount of coffee.
    Tip: The slower the pour, the richer the flavor!

CLEANING

  • Unplug the appliance from the wall socket outlet, and allow the coffee maker to completely cool down.

  • Do not clean the appliance when it is still hot.

  • To dispose of the used coffee grounds, empty the permanent filter or discard the paper filter from the filter holder.

  • Wash the permanent filter, filter holder, travel mug, travel mug lid, carafe, carafe lid, and pour-over filter holder with warm water and dish soap.
    Note: These parts are also dishwasher safe.

  • Clean coffee maker with a cloth or damp sponge.

DESCALING

  • Descale your coffee maker every 20 uses.
  • You can use:
    • a sachet of descaling agent diluted in two large cups of water;
    • or two large cups of commercially available white vinegar.
  • Pour descale and water solution into water tank and turn on the coffee maker (without coffee).
  • Push the On/Off button. When 5-6 fl ounce of water is brewed through, turn off the brewer with main power button.
  • Allow to sit for one hour.
  • Restart the coffee maker to stop the flow.
  • Run the coffee maker two or three times with the equivalent of one travel mug of water to rinse.

The guarantee excludes coffee makers that are not working or are not working properly due to lack of descaling.
