Product Usage Instructions

Installation

To ensure proper installation and compliance with safety regulations, follow these steps:

  1. Identify the equipment room or any enclosed area where fuel-fired objects are located or carbon monoxide may be produced.
  2. Choose a suitable location in the equipment room for installing the carbon monoxide detector/alarm.
  3. Make sure the carbon monoxide detector/alarm has a visible display showing the parts per million (ppm) value of the detected carbon monoxide. The alarm threshold is set at 50 ppm.
  4. Connect the carbon monoxide detector/alarm to the building power supply. Ensure it has a battery backup with visible and audible alarms to indicate low battery backup power supply.
  5. Follow the Manufacturer Recommendations Guide for installation, testing, and calibration of the carbon monoxide detector/alarm.
  6. Record all testing and calibration activities in a log book (analog or digital) that is easily accessible to inspectors and owner’s staff.
  7. Ensure the carbon monoxide detector/alarm has visible and audible alarms that can be heard and seen inside the equipment room, even above the noise level of operations inside and outside the boiler room.

Usage

Once the carbon monoxide detector/alarm is properly installed, follow these guidelines for usage:

  • Regularly check the visible display of the carbon monoxide detector/alarm to monitor the parts per million (ppm) value of detected carbon monoxide.
  • Keep an ear out for audible alarms that indicate the presence of carbon monoxide.
  • If the carbon monoxide detector/alarm goes off, immediately evacuate the area and contact emergency services.
  • Periodically test the functionality of the carbon monoxide detector/alarm according to the Manufacturer Recommendations Guide.
