When to Express Breast Milk:

Breast milk should be expressed in the following situations:

  1. The mother will be away from her child, for instance, when the baby is in special care or the mother is out for work.
  2. The breasts feel engorged or uncomfortably full.
  3. The baby cannot suck or latch well, but still needs breast milk.
  4. The partner needs to feed the child.
  5. The mother needs to boost her milk supply.

Warning and Cautions:

To avoid contamination, please follow these warnings and cautions:

  • Clean, rinse, and sanitize all parts (except the electric unit, charger, and connecting tube) before each use.
  • Assemble the parts as shown in the manual to avoid leakage or entrance of external elements into the breast pump.
  • Plastic material properties may be affected by disinfection and high temperatures.

Cleaning and Sanitizing the Pump:

The following parts are cleanable:

  • Feeding bottle
  • Pump body
  • Lid
  • Dust cover
  • Suction valve
  • Silicone wrist
  • Silica gel pad
  • Nipple with cover

It is recommended to clean the parts with drinking water and  mild dishwashing liquid. Clean and rinse the cleanable parts before first use and all subsequent uses. Disinfecting the cleanable parts is optional.

To clean and rinse the cleanable parts:

  1. Disassemble the breast pump and bottle completely. Also, remove the valve from the head of the bottle.
  2. Add mild detergent to hot water in a clean bowl or sink.
  3. Soak all cleanable parts in the hot water and detergent mixture  for 5 minutes.
  4. Clean all parts with a soft brush or clean dish towel and then rinse them thoroughly. Avoid inserting any object between the flaps  of the valve as it may affect its function.
  5. If using a dishwasher, place all the parts in the top rack and use a mild detergent tablet.

To disinfect the cleanable parts:

  1. Fill a household pot, big enough to accommodate all the cleanable parts, with drinkable water.
  2. Bring the water to a boil and place the parts in the pot.
  3. Boil the parts in water for 5 minutes, ensuring plastic parts do not touch the sides or base of the pot to prevent damage.
  4. Allow the water to cool and remove the parts from the pot.
  5. Place the parts on a clean towel or drying rack and allow them to air dry. Only use the pump once the parts have cooled down.

General Description

  • The electric breast pump enables you to express milk while sitting in a comfortable position. This breast pump comes with soft silica gel pad, which massages the breast to mimic your baby’s suckling action to enable milk flow. The pump starts in stimulation mode and allows you to adjust the level of stimulation as per your comfort. You can switch to expression mode, once the milk flow starts. The pump remembers the level settings in both stimulation and expression modes from previous sessions.

Warning to avoid contamination

  2. Assemble the parts as shown in this manual, to avoid leakage or entrance of external elements into the breast pump
  3. Plastic material properties may be affected by disinfection and high temperatures. Follow instructions in cleaning the parts section for cleaning the plastic accessories.
  4. Do not leave a feeding nipple in direct sunlight or heat, or leave in disinfectant for longer than recommended. This may damage the product.

Warning to avoid breast pain

  1. Switch off the pump, before you remove the pump from the breast to release the vacuum.
  2. Do not continue pumping if expression of milk does not start in first five minutes of using electric breast pump. Try to express at some other time in the day.
  3. If the pressure generated by the pump is uncomfortable, switch off the electric unit, break the seal between the breast and pump body with your finger and remove the pump from your breast
  4. Use the accessories provided along with the pump. Use of other accessories may result in vacuum levels higher/lower than what the pump is designed for.
  5. Never use the pump while you are sleepy or drowsy.
  6. If you feel continuous pain while using the breast pump, stop using the pump and consult your breastfeeding advisor.

Caution to avoid malfunction of device

  1. Do not alter the product parts in any way possible as it might lead to malfunctioning of the device.
  2. Never put the electric unit, silicone connecting tube and USB adapter in water, in the sanitizer or in the dishwasher.
  3. Do not use the pump while the battery is charging. This may lead to overheating and malfunctioning of the electric unit.
  4. Do not open the electric unit in any scenario. If you do, your warranty becomes invalid.

Cleaning and Sanitizing the Pump

Caution – The following parts do not come in contact with breast milk and should not be cleaned with water or any other disinfectant in sanitizer or dishwasher

Bringing the above mentioned parts in contact with water may result in permanent damage to them.

  2. Bring the water to boil and place the parts in the pot
  3. Boil the parts in water for 5 minutes. Avoid plastic parts from touch ing the sides or base of the pot. It can cause irreversible damage to the parts
  4. Allow water to cool and remove the parts from the water
  5. Place the parts on a clean towel or on a drying rack and allow them to air dry. Use the pump only once the parts have cooled down

Assembling the Breast Pump

  • Start with the pump body and valve. Push the valve as far in as possible on the pump body.
  • Next, securely fix this pump body on the feeding bottle by turning the pump body clockwise.
  • Attach the silicone wrist to the pump body from the top by pressing it against the rim of body.
  • Place the lid over the silicone wrist and make sure it fits tight onto the silicone wrist.
  • Insert the silica gel pad into the funnel-shaped section of the pump body. Press between the petals to remove any trapped air.
  • Place the dust cover against the gel pad to make sure the pump remains clean until next use.
  • Use the connecting pipe between the lid and the electric unit.

Operating the Breast Pump

  1. Clean your hands and breast before starting breast pump. Relax and sit on a chair for using the breast pump.
  2. Make sure the electric unit is adequately charged before starting the pumping session. It is recommended to not use the pump while charging. It is important to fully charge the battery before first use.
  3. Press the assembled pump against the breast such that the nipple is in the center of the silica gel pad.
  4. Use the ON-OFF switch to turn ON the pump. The pump starts in stim ulation mode at the last used vacuum level. You will feel the suction on your breast.
  5. Once the milk starts flowing, you can switch to expression mode by pressing the knob.
  6. The vacuum levels in both expression and stimulation mode can be increased or decreased by rotating the knob in clockwise or anti clockwise direction.
  7. On average you need to pump for 10 minutes to express 60ml-125ml of breast milk from one breast. However, this varies from woman to woman.
  8. Turn off the pump by using the On-OFF slide switch before removing the pump body from the breast. Use a finger to break the vacuum seal between breast and the pump body.
  9. Unplug the connecting tube between the electric unit and pump body.
  10. Remove the bottle from the pump body and cover it with the nipple with dome cap.
  11. The breast milk can now be refrigerated or fed to the baby
  12. Rinse and clean the cleanable parts as per the instructions in this manual before next use.

Storing Breast Milk

Breast milk can be stored in breast milk storage pouches or bottles:

  • In the fridge for upto 8 days at a temperature below 4 degree Celsius. If one is not sure of the refrigerator’s temperature, it is advis able to consume the milk within 3 days.
  • In the ice compartment of the refrigerator for 2 weeks.
  • In the freezer for 3 months, if it has a temperature of -18 degree Celsius or below.

Clearly label the bottle with date and time of expression. Use older breast milk before.

IMPORTANT:

  • Never re-freeze, thawed breast milk.
  • Never add new breast milk to frozen older breast milk.

Defrosting and Heating the Frozen Breast Milk

It is important to defrost the stored milk, before reheating it. The best way to defrost milk is by storing it in the refrigerator 24 hours before usage. However, if it needs to be immediately used, then this can be done by holding the bottle against a stream of warm running water or by putting it in a jug of warm water for about 20 minutes.
To heat the defrosted or refrigerated breast milk in feeding bottle, in a bowl of hot water or bottle warmer. Give it a gentle shake and check the temperature before feeding it to baby.

IMPORTANT:

  • Do not use a microwave to heat the breast milk. It might change the composition of the milk.
  • Once it has been defrosted, do not re-freeze the milk. Throw away any extra defrosted milk, not consumed by the baby.

Feeding the Baby

Use appropriate nipple while feeding the baby using the feeding bottle. Feed the baby in adult supervision.

Warning for health and safety of the baby

  1. Continuous and prolonged suction of liquids can cause tooth decay.
  2. Always check the temperature of the milk before giving it to the baby.
  3. Keep all components of the breast pump away from the infant.
  4. Never use nipples as a soother, as it might lead to choking.

Troubleshooting

Problem Solution
Not enough vacuum •         Check if the valve is pressed as far in as in can

go into the pump body

•         Check if the silicone wrist is attached tightly onto the pump body

•         Check if the connecting tube is connected to the lid on pump body and the electric unit

•         Try increasing the level on the pump by rotating the control knob in clockwise direction

Too much vacuum| •         Check if the silica gel pad is attached to the pump body and that no air is trapped between the gel pad and pump body

•         If it is your first time, using the breast pump to express milk, you may feel that suction pressure is too high. With practise, this may ease.

Breast pump doesn’t

turn On

| •         Check if the slide switch is in ON position

•         Check if the battery is adequately charged. The charging indicator light turns OFF when the bat tery is fully charged.

Experience pain while pumping| •         Stop using the pump and use a finger to break the vacuum seal between the breast and pump body.

•         Consult your breastfeeding advisor

Usage and Storage Conditions

Keep the breast pump out of direct sunlight and over exposure may lead to discoloration. Store the breast pump in a clean and dry place.
