    • The user has received instruction from a STIHL servicing dealer or a competent person before using the portable power supply for the first time.
    • The user is not under the influence of alcohol, medicines or drugs.

Working area and surroundings
WARNING

  • Bystanders, children and animals cannot recognize or assess the dangers of the portable power supply. Bystanders, children and ani‐ mals may be seriously injured.
    • Keep bystanders, children and animals away from the work area.
    • Make sure that children cannot play with the portable power supply.
  • The portable power supply is not protected against all environmental influences. If theportable power supply is exposed to certain environmental influences it may catch fire, explode, or be irreparably damaged. This may result in serious injury to people and damage to property
    • Protect the portable power supply against heat and fire.
    • Do not throw the portable power supply into a fire.
  • Do not store the portable power supply out‐ side the specified temperature limits
    • Do not immerse the portable power supply in liquid.
  • Do not expose the portable power supply to high pressure.
  • Do not expose the portable power supply to microwaves.
  • Protect portable power supply from chemi‐ cals and salts.
  • Do not operate the portable power supply in an easily combustible or explosive environment.
  • Do not operate the portable power supply on an easily combustible surface.
  • If the portable power supply needs to be used on a working platform or a safe scaf‐ fold, secure the portable power supply against falling using the fall protection device.
  • If the portable power supply is used as a work surface, the portable power supply may be damaged. Persons may be injured or property damaged.
  • Do not use the portable power supply as a work surface.

Safe condition
The portable power supply is in safety-compliant condition if the following conditions are met:

  • The portable power supply is undamaged.
  • The portable power supply is clean and dry.
  • The portable power supply is functioning and unaltered.
  • The fall protection is undamaged and unaltered.
  • Original STIHL accessories for this portable power supply are attached.
  • The accessories are correctly attached.

WARNING

  • In non-safety-compliant condition, the portable power supply can no longer function safely.
    This may cause serious injury to persons.

    • Work with an undamaged and functioning portable power supply.
    • Do not charge a damaged or defective port‐ able power supply.
    • If the portable power supply is dirty or wet, clean the portable power supply and allow it to dry.
    • Do not alter the portable power supply.
    • Do not insert objects into the openings of the portable power supply.
    • Do not bridge or short-circuit the contacts of the portable power supply with metallic objects.
    • Do not open the portable power supply.
    • Use original STIHL accessories for this portable power supply.
    • Attach accessories as described in this user manual or in the user manual for the acces‐ sories.
    • Replace worn or damaged labels.
  • Liquid may leak from a damaged portable power supply. If that liquid comes into contact with the skin or eyes, the skin or eyes may be irritated.

    • Avoid contact with the liquid.
    • If skin contact occurs: Wash affected areas of skin with plenty of water and soap.
    • In the event of contact with eyes: Rinse eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and consult a doctor.
  • A damaged or defective portable power supply may smell unusual, emit smoke or burn. Per‐ sons may be seriously or fatally injured, and property may be damaged.

    • If the portable power supply smells unusual or emits smoke, do not use the portable power supply and keep it away from com‐ bustible materials.
    • If the portable power supply is on fire, try to extinguish the portable power r supply using a fire extinguisher or water.

Charging
WARNING

  • During charging, a damaged or defective port‐ able power supply or charging cable may smell unusual or emit smoke. Persons may be injured or property damaged.
  • Disconnect the mains plug from the power outlet.

Connecting to the power supply
Contact with live components may occur for the following reasons:

  • The charging cable or the extension cable are damaged.
  • The power plug of the charging cable or the extension cable is damaged.
  • The power plug connected to the mains is not installed correctly

DANGER

  • Contact with live parts may result in electric shock. This may result in serious or fatal injury to the user.

    • Ensure that the charging cable, the exten‐ sion cable and its mains plug are undam‐ aged
      If the charging cable or the extension cable are damaged:

    • Do not touch the damaged area.

    • Disconnect the mains plug from the power supply.

    • Handle the charging cable, extension cable and their mains plugs with dry hands.

    • Insert the mains plug of the charging cable or the extension cable into a correctly installed and fused power outlet with a pro‐ tective earth contact.

    • Connect the charging cable via a residual current device (30 mA, 30 ms).

    • If the charging cable or extension cable is connected or disconnected, always grip the plug and do not pull on the cable

  • A damaged or unsuitable extension cable can result in electric shock. There is a risk of seri‐ ous or fatal injury.

    • Use an extension cable with the correct cable cross-section, 15.2.
    • If the portable power supply is to be charged or used outdoors, use a splashproof extension cable approved for outdoor use.

WARNING

  • During charging, an incorrect mains voltage or incorrect mains frequency can result in over‐ voltage in the portable power supply. The port‐ able power supply may be damaged.
    • Make sure the mains voltage and mains fre‐ quency of the power supply comply with the information on the portable power supply’s rating label.
    • If the portable power supply is charged in a vehicle, ensure that the mains voltage and mains frequency in the vehicle comply with the information on the portable power sup‐ ply’s rating plate.
  • If the portable power supply is connected to a power strip, electrical components may be overloaded during the charging process. The components may overheat and cause a fire. Persons may be seriously or fatally injured, and property may be damaged.
    • Ensure that the technical specifications for the power strip are not exceeded by the information on the rating plate of the porta‐ ble power supply and of all electrical devices connected to the power strip.
  • An incorrectly routed charging cable or exten‐ sion cable may get damaged and people can trip over them. Persons may be injured and the charging cable or extension cable may become damaged.
    • Route and mark the charging cable and extension cable in such a way that people cannot trip over it.
    • Route the charging cable and extension cable in such a way that they are not under tension or tangled.
    • Route the charging cable and extension cable in such a way that that they will not be damaged, bent, crushed, or rubbed.
    • Protect the charging cable and extension cable from heat, oil and chemicals.
    • Lay the charging cable and extension cable on a dry surface.
  • The extension cable warms up in operation. If that heat cannot escape, it may cause a fire.
  • If using a cable reel: completely unroll the cable reel.
  • The portable power supply may be used and charged in a vehicle. If the portable power supply is improperly used or charged in a vehi‐ cle, vehicle parts may be damaged. This may result in injury to people and damage to property.
    • Secure the portable power supply in such a way that it cannot tip over or move while the vehicle is in motion.
    • The portable power supply should not be permanently installed in a vehicle or used in this way long-term.
    • Applicable national installation regulations must be observed when connecting the charger to the vehicle supply system.

Transport
WARNING

  • The portable power supply is not protected against all environmental influences. If the portable power supply is exposed to certain environmental influences, it may be damaged and property damage may occur.
    • Turn the rotary switch to O the position.
    • Unplug the portable power supply.
    • Do not transport a damaged portable power supply.
  • During transport, the portable power supply may tip over or move. Persons may be injured or property damaged.
    • Secure the portable power supply in such a way that it cannot move, using tension straps, a belt, or net.
    • If the portable power supply is packed, pack the portable power supply in the packaging in such a way that it cannot move.

Storage

WARNING

  • Children are unable to recognize and assess the dangers of the portable power supply. Children may become seriously injured.
    • Turn the rotary switch to  O the position.
    •  Unplug the portable power supply.
    • Store the portable power supply out of the reach of children.
  • The portable power supply is not protected against all environmental influences. If the portable power supply is exposed to certain environmental influences, it may become irreparably damaged.
    • If the portable power supply is warm, allow it to cool down.
    • Keep the portable power supply clean and dry in storage.
    • Store the portable power supply in a closed room.
    • Store the portable power supply separately from the electric power tool and the charg‐ ing cable.
    • The portable power supply must not be stored outside the specified temperature limits
  • The charging cable is not intended to be used for carrying or hanging the portable power supply from. The charging cable and the port‐ able power supply may become damaged.
    • Wind the charging cable as a loop and secure it.

Cleaning, maintenance, and repair

WARNING

  • Using harsh detergents, and cleaning with a water jet or sharp objects can damage the portable power supply. If the portable power supply is not properly cleaned, parts may no longer function correctly and safety devices may be disabled. This may cause serious injury to persons.
    • Clean the portable power supply as descri‐ bed in this user manual.
  • If the portable power supply is not properly maintained or repaired, components may no longer function correctly, and safety devices may be disabled. There is a risk of serious or fatal injury.
    • Do not maintain or repair the portable power supply yourself.
    • If the portable power supply requires main‐ tenance or repair, contact a STIHL servic‐ ing dealer.

Making the portable power supply ready for use

Making the portable power supply ready for use
The following steps must be performed before commencing work:

  • Check LEDs, 7.1
  • Fully charge the portable power supply
  • Clean the portable power supply, 12.1
  • Ensure that the portable power supply condition is safe
  • If these steps cannot be carried out, do not use the portable power supply and consult a STIHL servicing dealer.

Charging the portable power supply, and LEDs

Charging the portable power supply
The charging time depends on several factors, e.g. the temperature of the portable power supply and the ambient temperature. For optimum performance, observe the recommended temper‐ ature ranges, 15.4. The actual charging time may vary from the charging time indicated. The charging time is indicated at www.stihl.com/ charging-times. The portable power supply heats up during charging

  • Turn the rotary switch (1) to the position. The charging input is activated.
  • Open the cover (4).
  • Insert the charger plug (3) into the charger socket (2).
  • Insert the mains plug (7) into a convenient power outlet (8). If the LEDs (5) light up green and the LED dis‐ play moves from left to right, the portable power supply is being charged. If the LEDs (5) light up green and the LED (5) of the current state of charge is flashing green: The portable power supply is too hot or too cold. The charging starts automatically as soon as the permitted temperature range is reached. The charging time may take longer.
  • Routing the charging cable (6).
  • If all LEDs (5) light up green: The portable power supply is fully charged.
  • Turn the rotary switch (1) to the position.
  • Remove the charging cable (6).
  • Close the cover (4).

Displaying the charge level

  • Turn the rotary switch (1) to the position.
    The portable power supply runs through a selftest. The LEDs (2) light up white twice. Then, the LEDs (2) light up green and indicate the charge level.

  • If the left LED flashes green or the LEDs (2) go out after the self-test, charge the portable power supply.

LEDs on the portable power supply
The LEDs can indicate the charge status of the portable power supply, or faults. The LEDs can:

  • light up white
  • light up or flash green
  • light up or flash yellow
  • flash red

If the LEDs light up white, the portable power supply is running through a self-test.
The state of charge is indicated when the LEDs light up or flash green.

  • If the LEDs light up or flash yellow, or flash red, rectify faults, 14.
    There is a fault in the portable power supply.

Checking the portable power supply

Checking the LEDs

  • Turn the rotary switch to the  I position.
    The LEDs light up or flash.

  • If the LEDs do not light up or flash:

  • Turn the rotary switch to the O position.

  • Do not use the portable power supply.

  • Contact a STIHL servicing dealer.
    There is a fault in the portable power supply

Connecting the portable power supply
When connecting more than one electric power tool to the portable power supply, STIHL recom‐ mends that each additional electric power tool is protected by an additional RCD.STIHL-PS-3000.0-Portable-Power-Station-

  • Turn the rotary switch (1) to the position.
  • Open the cover (2 or 5).
  • Connect the electric power tool to the power outlet (3) or the socket (4).

Unplugging the portable power supply

  • Turn the rotary switch to the position.
  • Remove connected electric power tools.
  • Remove the charging cable.
  • Close the cover on the power outlet or socket.

Using fall protection

  • If work needs to be performed on a working platform or safe scaffold, secure the portable power supply with the strap sling (1) and cara‐ biner (2).

Transporting

Transporting the portable power supply

  • Turn the rotary switch to the position. The battery modules are electrically separa‐ ted.
  • Unplug the portable power supply.
  • Ensure that the portable power supply condi‐ tion is safety-compliant. Carrying the portable power supply
  • Carry the portable power supply by the carrying handle. Transporting the portable power supply in a vehi‐ cle
  • Secure the portable power supply in such a way that the portable power supply cannot tip over or move.
  • If the portable power supply is packaged, pack the portable power supply in such a way that the following conditions are met:
    • The portable power supply cannot move in the packaging.
  • Secure the packaging so that it cannot move.The portable power supply is subject to the Car‐ riage of Dangerous Goods regulations. The port‐ able power supply is classified as UN 3480 (lith‐ ium-ion batteries) and has been tested in accord‐ ance with the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria Part III, Subsection 38.3. Storing

Storing the portable power supply
STIHL recommends storing the portable power supply in a charged state between 40% and 60% (4 LEDs light up in green).

  • Turn the rotary switch to the position.
  • Unplug the portable power supply.
  • Store the portable power supply in such a way that the following conditions are met:
    • The portable power supply is out of the reach of children
    • The portable power supply is clean and dry.
    • The portable power supply is in a closed room.
    • The portable power supply is not suspended from the charging cable, the fall protection, the frame or the carrying handle.
    • The portable power supply is not stored out‐ side the specified temperature limits

NOTICE

  • If the portable power supply is not stored as described in this user manual, the portable power supply may become deeply discharged and irreparably damaged.
    • Charge a discharged portable power supply before storing it. STIHL recommends stor‐ ing the portable power supply with a charge level of between 40% and 60% (4 LEDs light up in green).
    • The portable power supply must not be stored outside the specified temperature limits

Cleaning

Cleaning the portable power supply

  • Turn the rotary switch to the position.
  • Unplug the portable power supply.
  • Clean the portable power supply with a damp cloth.

Maintenance and Repairs

Users cannot maintain or repair the portable power supply themselves.

  • If the portable power supply requires mainte‐ nance or is defective or damaged, contact a STIHL servicing deale

Replacing the fuse
NOTICE

  • Any triggered safety fuse must be replaced by a fuse of the same type, same nominal current and the same shut-down characteristics. This may otherwise result in fires and damage to property.
    • Replace the fuse as described in this User Manual.STIHL-PS-3000.0-Portable-Power-Station-fig-15
    • If the fuse (2) of the portable power supply has tripped: Turn the rotary switch (1) to the position and replace the fuse (2) with a 5×20 mm T5AL250V fine wire fuse.

Extension Cords
If an extension cord is used, the cross sectional area of its conductors must meet the following minimum requirements – depending on the line voltage and length of the extension cord:

If rated voltage on the rating label is 220V to 240V:

  • Cord length up to 20 m: AWG 15 / 1.5 mm²
  • Cord length 20 m up to 50 m: AWG 13 / 2.5 mm²

If rated voltage on the rating label is 100V to 127V:

  • Cord length up to 10 m: AWG 14 / 2.0 mm²
  • Cord length 10 m up to 30 m: AWG 12 / 3.5 mm²

Temperature limits
WARNING

  • The portable power supply is not protected against all environmental influences. If the portable power supply is exposed to certain environmental influences, it may catch fire or explode. This may result in serious injury to people and damage to property.
    • Do not charge the portable power supply below -20 °C or above +50 °C.
    • Do not use the portable power supply below -20 °C or above +50 °C.
    • Do not store the portable power supply below -20 °C or above +70 °C.

Recommended temperature ranges
For optimum performance of the portable power supply, observe the following temperature ranges:

  • Charging: 0° C to 45° C
  • Use: -20 °C bis +45 °C
  • Storage: -20 °C to +50 °C

If the portable power supply is charged, used or stored outside the recommended temperature ranges, performance may be reduced.

Disposal

Disposing of the portable power supply
Contact the local authorities or your STIHL dealer for information on disposal. Improper disposal can be harmful to health and pollute the environment.

  • Take STIHL products including packaging to a suitable collection point for recycling in accord‐ ance with local regulations.
  • Do not dispose with domestic waste.
