UNICHARGE
1,5.12 / 4.12 / 8.12
- Unicharge is a professional battery charger, ideal for fully and perfectly recharging all lead-acid batteries automatically (without supervision)
- liquid electrolyte
- with gel electrolyte (GEL)
- AGM (or maintenance-free)
UNICHARGE 1,5.12
- Unicharge 1.5.12 has been designed to recharge 6V (3 cells of 2V) and 12V (6 cells of 2V) batteries from 8Ah to 40Ah. Using its 4 charging stages, it is ideal for recharging a motorcycle, scooter alarm batteries, etc.
UNICHARGE 4.12 et UNICHARGE 8.12
- Using the 8-step charging curve for the 4A model and 9 steps for the 8A model, the microprocessor-controlled, Unicharge 4.12 and Unicharge 8.12 guarantee optimal charging of your batteries and extend their lifespan to their full potential.
- UNICHARGE 4.12 is designed to charge 6V or 12V batteries (3 cells of cells or 6 cells of 2V) from 2 to 80 Ah (maintenance of charges up to 120Ah)
- UNICHARGE 8.12 is designed to charge 12V batteries (6 cells of 2V) from 10 to 160 Ah (maintenance of charges up to 250Ah)
- They are particularly suitable for charging batteries for solar fences, alarms, vehicles (cars, motorcycles, motorhomes/caravans, scooters, snow scooters, tractors, and agricultural machinery, and also for boats).
- Their “Manual charge” function allows the recovery of very deeply discharged batteries (from 0V) that can not be recovered with an automatic charge (see MANUAL CHARGE). The RECOND function (UNICHARGE 8.12 only) restores the batteries that have lost their capacity to store energy due to the lamination of their electrolyte (see RECONDITIONING).
CONTROL PANEL
UNICHARGE 1,5.12
CONTROL PANEL: UNICHARGE 4.12
CONTROL PANEL: UNICHARGE 8.12
INSTALLATION
- Protected against humidity and rain (IP65), the UNICHARGE chargers can be used even in the most humid places such as hangars, garden sheds etc.
- Using the 4 fixing holes, UNICHARGE 4.12 and 8.12 can be fixed to the walls easily.
CONNECTION
- Before making any connections, please check the following:
- For open batteries, check the level of the electrolyte. If necessary, top it up with distilled or deionized water.
Unicharge 1,15.12
- Plug the Unicharge into the wall outlet/socket.
- Select MODE: 6V or 12V (See control panel)
- Connect the red clamp to the positive terminal of your battery (marked + or P).
- Connect the black clamp to the negative terminal of your battery (identified – or N).
Unicharge 4.12 / 8.12
- Plug the Unicharge into the wall outlet/Socket.
- Select MODE. (See control panel) Model 4.12 and 8.12: to validate your selection, wait 5 seconds. The selected mode will then be initiated.
- Connect the red clamp to the positive terminal of your battery (marked + or P).
- Connect the black clamp to the negative terminal of your battery (identified – or N).
- When charging is completed, the “Charge” LED lights green. If the “Charge” LED is off, check your connections.
- To disconnect, follow the reverse order.
- Note: For UNICHARGE 4.12, it is necessary to set the charging mode (6V or 12V) every time you restart the charger.
CHARGING STEPS
The LED indicators will successively light ON following the different steps
UNICHARGE 1,5.12
UNICHARGE 4.12 AND 8.12
MANUAL MODE / MANUAL LOAD (UNICHARGE 4.12 AND 8.12)
- If your battery is severely discharged (very low voltage <5V) and therefore not recoverable with automatic charging, select manual charging mode.
- UNICHARGE will force the charge until the battery reaches a voltage of 13.6V. After this mode, your battery will be recharged to 80%. We recommend that you finalize the load with an automatic load.
WARNING
- Before starting the mode, be sure to disconnect your battery from any electrical circuit including vehicles.
- The reverse polarity protection is inactive; any connection error is irreversible for the charger (out of warranty).
- Do not let the charger connect more than 12H in manual mode
RECONDITIONING MODE
(UNICHARGE 8.12 ONLY)
- This function is used to rehabilitate batteries (12V only) that have lost their ability to store energy due to the stratification of their electrolyte. Lamination is a non-homogeneous mixture of the electrolyte.
- Water having a lower density, concentrates with time upwards while acid, having a higher density, concentrates downwards.
- With the RECONDITIONING mode, UNICHARGE delivers a specific charging curve that stirs the electrolyte so that the battery recovers its capacity to store energy, thus increasing its lifespan.
WARNING
- Before starting the mode, be sure to disconnect your battery from any electrical circuit including vehicles.
- The charger follows each charging step, including step n°6 (RECOND).
INTEGRATED PROTECTIONS
- For safe operation, Unicharge has several built-in protections that preserve the charger and the battery:
- Reverse polarity protection,
- Short-circuit protection,
- Thermal protection (except Unicharge 1.5.12)
- Protection against sparks.
TROUBLESHOOTING
UNICHARGE 1,5.12
Error message | Causes | Solution |
---|
The POWER light is ON but the charge does not start (the Charge LED is switched off)| The battery is charged. The “floating” mode is activated. The current is <
30mA, the LED indicator thus
does not switch on.
| Normal situation. The charger will go back to its charge when the voltage
drops. The LED indicator will then become orange again.
The battery voltage selected is not appropriate (12V
selected instead of 6V)
| Select the correct battery voltage.
Polarity reversal on the
battery
| Check the wiring.
The Charge LED flashes (orange/green alternatively)| Critical charging status|
The light will not flash more than 5 seconds: the LED indicator will then
become orange, meaning that the battery is charging.

Check that the voltage selected matches the voltage of your battery.
Battery voltage too low.| Check that the voltage selected matches the voltage
of your battery.
Check that the selected voltage matches the voltage of your battery. If the
battery voltage is less than 3.5V for a 6V and 5V battery for a 12V battery,
the charge can not start. Select the Manual Charge mode to force the load (See
MANUAL CHARGE).

The load has stopped in the REPAIR SB (2) or EQUALIZATION (5) stage and the
WARNING indicator lights up.| The battery is too sulfated.| Check your
battery. Replace if it is necessary.
The battery does not hold a charge.| Check your battery. Use the RECOND mode
(see RECOND, Unicharge 8.12 only).
Charging stopped in the CHARGE DIAG step and the WARNING indicator lights up.|
Battery does not hold a charge.| Check your battery. Replace if it is
necessary.
When restarting UNICHARGE 4.12, the loading mode (6V or 12V) is not memorized|
Normal phenomenon. When a battery shows 6V voltage, it is hard to know if it
is a 6V battery or a 12V that is discharged| Set the charging mode on 6V o 12V
when restarting the UNICHARGE 4.12.
