Machine-Specific Safety Warnings

  • a) Use the sander only for dry sanding. Penetration of water into the sander increases the risk of an electric shock.
  • b) Pay attention that no persons are put at risk through sparking. Remove any combustible materials in the vicinity. Sparking occurs when sanding metal materials.
  • c) Caution, fire hazard! Avoid overheating the object being sanded as well as the sander. Always empty the dust collector before taking breaks. In unfavourable conditions, e. g., when sparks emit from sanding metals, sanding debris in the dust bag, micro filter or paper sack (or in the filter sack or filter of the vacuum cleaner) can self-ignite. Particularly when mixed with remainders of varnish, polyurethane or other chemical materials and when the sanding debris is hot after long periods of working.
  • d) When working with the sander, always hold it firmly with both hands and provide for a secure stance. The power tool is guided more secure with both hands.
  • e) Secure the workpiece. A workpiece clamped with clamping devices or in a vice is held more secure than by hand.

Vibration Safety
This tool vibrates during use. Repeated or long-term exposure to vibration may cause temporary or permanent physical injury, particularly to the hands, arms and shoulders. To reduce the risk of vibration-related injury:

  1.  Anyone using vibrating tools regularly or for an extended period should first be examined by a doctor and then have regular medical check-ups to ensure medical problems are not being caused or worsened from use. Pregnant women or people who have impaired blood circulation to the hand, past hand injuries, nervous system disorders, diabetes, or Raynaud’s Disease should not use this tool. If you feel any symptoms related to vibration (such as tingling, numbness, and white or blue fingers), seek medical advice as soon as possible.
  2.  Do not smoke during use. Nicotine reduces the blood supply to the hands and fingers, increasing the risk of vibration-related injury.
  3.  Wear suitable gloves to reduce the vibration effects on the user.
  4.  Use tools with the lowest vibration when there is a choice.
  5.  Include vibration-free periods each day of work.
  6.  Grip tool as lightly as possible (while still keeping safe control of it). Let the tool do the work.
  7.  To reduce vibration, maintain the tool as explained in this manual. If any abnormal vibration occurs, stop use immediately.

Intended Use

The sander is intended for dry sanding of wood, plastic, metal, as well as coated surfaces. sanders with electronic control are also suitable for polishing. The power tool is not suitable for stationary usage.

Main Adjustments

**Attaching the sanding paper – Picture 1 (models equipped with a sanding paper clamping system)*
Fit the sanding paper over the base. Make sure the sanding paper is even with the edges and that the dust collection holes in the base and sanding paper is aligned and that the sanding paper is taut on the base. Lift the sanding paper retaining clips to the open position and insert one end of the sanding paper under the retaining clip. Push the clip back into the retaining position. Lightly stretch the paper over the base plate ensuring that it is not folded or wrinkled then position under the other retaining clip back into the retaining position. Check that the paper is flat to the base plate, if not, release either clip and reposition the paper before resetting the clip. Switch on momentarily to check that the sander is functioning correctly. If there is undue vibration, repeat the paper positioning procedure.
Warning:** Always wear dust mask, eye & ear protection during sanding.

**Fitting the sanding paper – Picture 2 (models equipped with an self- adhesive pad)***
Fit the self-adhesive sanding paper over the base. Make sure the sanding paper is even with the edges and that the dust collection holes in the base and sanding paper are aligned and that the sanding paper is taut on the base. To remove the adhesive sanding paper, simply pull its edge in order to remove it from the base.

**Dust collection container/dust extraction hood*
If your sander is equipped with a dust collection container. To attach it on the sander, insert the container into the back of the sander in the correct position. Then turn the container 90° clockwise. Pull the container and make sure that it is tightened securely on the sander. To remove the container follow these steps in reverse order.
Note:** Some models do not need the clockwise turn step, simply push the container on the sander. If you sander is equipped with a dust extraction hood:

  1.  Turn the dust extraction hood so that the tab on top of the rectangular end faces up. Snap it in place into the rectangular shaft at the back of the Sander.
  2.  Connect a 1-1/2″ dust collection hose from the dust extraction to your dust collection system (hose and system not included).

The dust extraction hood will only work if the sandpaper has holes that line up with the dust collection holes of the sanding pad. If your sander is equipped with a dust extraction port, connect a dust collection vacuum system or an appropriate vacuum cleaner.

Replacing the sanding pad
To replace the sanding pad, unscrew and remove the bolts that hold the sanding pad on the sander. Remove the sanding pad and attach the new pad. Check the sanding pad by pulling it slightly to ensure that it has been placed correctly. Be sure to attach the pad in the right direction.

**Replacing the rectangular sanding pad assembly (2 in 1 models with triangular and rectangular pads)***
Unscrew the lock knob (for some models; press the button of the sanding pad) to release the triangulated sanding pad. Hook the two hooks of the rectangular sand tray assembly to the support wire of the base plate. The holes of the self-adhesive sandpaper must be aligned with corresponding holes of the rectangular sanding pad and compacted by hand.

Main operation

  • ON/OFF switch – trigger switch
Press the trigger to turn on the sander and release it to turn off your sander. For models equipped with an ON/OFF selector switch: Move the switch to the ON position in order to turn on the sander. To turn off the sander move the switch to the OFF position

  • **On/Off switch Lock button (continuous operation)***
Press the on/off trigger switch then the lock-on button, release the on/off trigger switch first and then the lock-on button. Your switch is now locked on for continuous use. To turn off your sander press and release the on/off switch.

  • **Variable speed selector***
Use the selector to increase or decrease the speed according to the material and sanding sheet specification to be used (also possible during no load operation). Avoid prolonged use at very low speed as this may damage your sander’s motor.

  • Using the sander
The workpiece to be sanded must be secured. If it is small or it may move during sanding, it must be held in a vice or suitably clamped. Be sure to hold the sander firmly whilst it is on and apply it gently to the work, it may “kick” on first contact. Hold the sander so that it is flat on the work and move slowly, preferably with a smooth, circular motion. Regularly check the condition of the sanding paper and replace when worn for best results.
