Product Usage Instructions

  1. Headset Adjustment: Use the slide adjustment on each side of the headband to achieve a proper fit and size.
  2. Mic Position: For optimal performance, position the microphone directly in front of your mouth, approximately a finger’s width away from your lips.
  3. SmartBoom Mic Mute: During operation, swivel the boom up above the brow at approximately 45 degrees to mute the microphone. Lower the boom back down to reactivate the microphone.
  4. Power On: Press and hold the Power button for 2 seconds until the screen turns on.
  5. Access the Menu: Press and hold the Mode button for 3 seconds until the screen changes. Short press the Mode button to scroll through the settings. Use Volume +/- to scroll through the setting options. Press and hold the Mode button to save selections and exit the menu.
  6. Confirm Headset’s Security Code: All devices must use the same security code to work together as a system.

Note: The user manual provides additional menu options andsettings that can be adjusted from the belt pack menu. These options include Side Tone, Mic Gain, Channel A, Channel B, Security Code, Dual Listen, and PT Button. Please refer to the manual for more information on these settings.
_ Important: When using multiple CrewPlex systems in proximity to each other, it is recommended to set their Groups at least ten (10) values apart for optimal performance. For example, if one system is using Group 03, another nearby system should use Group 13. _Battery information and specific details about repeater mode and Roam Mode can be found in the DR10-900 Manual.

SETUP

  1. Headset Adjustment: Use the slide adjustment on each side of the headband to achieve proper fit and size.
  2. Mic Position: For best performance, it is recommended the microphone be positioned directly in front of your mouth, sitting a finger’s width from your lips.
  3. SmartBoom Mic Mute: During operation, swiveling the boom up above the brow at approximately 45 degrees will mute the microphone. To activate the microphone again, simply lower the boom back down.
  4. Power on. Press and hold the Power button for 2 seconds, until the screen turns on.
  5. Access the menu. Press and hold the Mode button for 3 seconds, until the screen changes to . Short-press Mode to scroll through the settings, and then scroll through setting options using Volume +/−. Press and hold Mode to save your selections and exit the menu.
    • a. Select a Group. Select a group number from 00–51. IMPORTANT: Devices must have the same group number to communicate.
    • b. Select an ID. Select a unique ID number.
    • Repeater* Mode ID options: M, 01–08, S, or L.
    • Roam Mode ID options: M, SM, 02–09, S, or L.
    • Standard Mode ID options: M, 01–09, S, or L.
    • One device must always use the “M” ID and serve as the master for proper system function. An “M” indicator designates the master on its OLED. (For Roam Mode, one device must use the “SM” ID as well.)
    • Listen-only devices must use the “L” ID. You may duplicate ID “L” on multiple devices.
    • Shared devices must use the “S” ID. You may duplicate ID “S” on multiple devices, but only one shared device may talk at a time.
    • When using “S” IDs, the last full-duplex ID cannot be used (“08” in Repeater mode and “09” in the Standard or Roam).
    • c. Confirm headset’s Security Code. All devices must use the same security code to work together as a system.

OPERATION

  • LED Modes – Blue (double blink) when logged in. Blue (single blink) when logged out. Red when battery charging in progress. (LED turns off when charging is complete.)
  • Lock To toggle between Lock and Unlock, press and hold the Talk and Mode buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. A lock icon appears on the OLED when locked.
  • Volume Up and Down – Use the + and − buttons to control the headset volume. “Volume” and a stair-step indicator display the headset’s current volume setting on the OLED. You will hear a beep in your headset when volume is changed. You will hear a different, higher-pitched beep when maximum volume is reached.
  • Talk – Use the Talk button to enable or disable talk for the device. “TALK” appears on the OLED when enabled.
    • Latch talking: A single, short press of the button.
    • Momentary talking: Press and hold the button for 2 seconds or longer; talk will remain on until the button is released.
    • Shared users (“S” ID) utilize momentary talking. Only one Shared user can talk at a time.
  • Mode – Short-press the Mode button to toggle between the channels enabled on the headset. Long-press the Mode button to access the menu.
  • Two-Way Push-to-Talk – If you have a two-way radio connected to the master, you may use the PT button to activate Talk for the two-way radio from any device on the system.

Multiple CrewPlex Systems

Each separate CrewPlex system should use the same Group and Security Code for all devices in that system. CrewPlex recommends that systems operating in proximity to one another set their Groups to be at least ten (10) values apart. For example, if one system is using Group 03, another system nearby should use Group 13.

Battery

  • Battery life: Approx. 7-Hour for Single, 14-Hour for Dual
  • Charge time from empty: Approx. 4 hours (Single) or 6 hours (Dual) for USB port connection and drop-in charger
  • Charging LED: The headset will illuminate red while charging and will turn off when charging is complete.

Aside from Group and User ID, the following settings are adjustable from the belt pack menu.

  • Repeater mode is the default setting. See the DR10-900 Manual for information about modes.
  • Not available in Roam Mode.

Two-Way Radio Integration

  • The DR10 system can be integrated with a two-way radio system via the CrewPlex Two-Way I/O Headset Adapter (CRC-2WAY-IO).
  • The DR10 system offers two basic modes of operation when interfacing and connecting to two-way radio systems.
  • The Local mode allows users to connect to a two-way radio and keep their conversations private from the other DR10 system users. Only the DR10 user in Local mode can hear and talk to the users on the two-way system.
  • The System mode allows a two-way radio to be connected to a DR10 system and all users can hear and talk using the connected two-way radio. See the HSDR10-900 Manual and the CRC-2WAY-IO Quick Start Guide for more information on the CrewPlex Two-Way I/O Headset Adapter.
