Description
802.11b Wireless LAN Access Point
The D-Link Air DWL-700AP Access Point is designed to give 2.4GHz wireless LAN
users low-cost yet secure access to an IEEE 802.11b wireless Local Area
Network (LAN). This Access Point combines industry standards with versatile
functions like repeater mode and enhanced IEEE 802.11i security features like
WEP, TKIP, and AES to give you wireless LAN interoperability and functionality
at an affordable price.
-
Wireless Access
The DWL-700AP Access Point connects the wireless LAN nodes (workstations, print servers, etc.) together via a 2.4GHz IEEE 802.11b wireless interface. It listens to all data traffic and maintains a dynamically updated MAC address database. When necessary, IP addresses are matched to MAC addresses and information is stored in the database as well. A 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet port provides a bridge between a wireless network and a wired network. The DWL- 700AP converts data packets over a wired Ethernet LAN into radio signals to be used on the wireless network and vice versa. -
Built-in Repeater Function
The DWL-700AP can be configured to operate in any one of the following modes: (1) as a wireless access point, (2) a wireless client or (3) a repeater. With these built-in functions, the DWL-700AP gives you the flexibility to configure the device to as an access point at home or the office with normal wireless operation range requirements, or as a repeater that connects 2 wireless networks together when the number of wireless users increases and spreads in a wider area. -
Network Security
In the air, transmitted data can be easily intercepted if not well protected by a security scheme. The DWL-700AP provides the necessary security, using the enhanced 64/128-bit industry-standard WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) encryption protocol. It also provides IEEE 802.11i security features such as an embedded AES/TKIP security engine (hardware supported). -
Web-based & SNMP Configuration/Management
The DWL-700AP can be configured and managed by HTTP (web-based configuration) or SNMP (SNMP v.2 support) through built-in MIBs. DHCP client and server are supported.
