OPERATING AND SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR DIE AND HEAD EXTRACTION

1| Explain that safety equipment must be used at all times and why — safety
boots must be used at all times when running machines|
2| Before operating a machine clarify that safety check has been completed and
signed off, if not see a Manager or setter before switching the machine on.|
3| Before starting the change make sure the heat temperatures are running at
set value, 140 deg for freezing agent.|
4| Crack the 4, 16mm Allen bolts on the head, remove these from the head, this
will release the ring and heater band attached, reduce the set temperature to
18 deg, remove the thermocouple and the plug attached to the heater band,
place the ring on the floor to cool.be careful not to damage
the heater band or thermocouple.|
5| Remove existing die profile from the head, take this to the bench and
remove any existing freezing agent from die using brass tools supplied. GLOVES
AND ARM BANDS MUST BE USED.|
6| Remove spider from head take this to the bench and remove any existing
freezing agent from die using brass tools supplied. GLOVES AND ARM BANDS MUST
BE USED.|
7| Crack the 4, 24 mm nuts attached to the barrel remove these and carefully
remove the head from the barrel take this to the bench and remove any existing
freezing agent from die using brass tools supplied. GLOVES AND ARM BANDS MUST
BE USED.|
8| Turn on extruder screw to 12, when the freezing agent stops extruding from
mouth of extruder blow the remaining freezing agent from the neck of the
hopper, out of the barrel, dust mask MUST be used. Task is now complete.|
9| Do not use any machine unless trained and authorised by Manager.|
I have received the above training and fully understand every point that was
explained to me. I confirm that I will wear the required PPE equipment when
using the above machinery and take all steps to ensure my own safety. I will
ask for further training if I need to and will immediately inform the
Supervisor or Manager if there are any issues with the machinery.
