Product Usage Instructions

  2. Equipment Required: – Safety Glasses – Ratchet – Sockets: 11/16”, 13mm, 18mm – Torque T25 Torxbit Wrench Socket – Plastic Trim Tools – 19mm Wrench – 6” Socket Extension – Painter’s Tape – 10mm Deep Well Socket – Utility Knife
  3. Installation Time: 110 min (average time for professional installers)
  4. Safety Precautions: – Always wear safety glasses during installation. – Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
  5. Ball Mount Selection: – Length: – Maximum: Distance from the top of the shank to the top of the ball platform is 10.5”. – Minimum: Rise of the ball mount is 0.75”. – Distance from the center of the ball hole to the center of the pin hole.
  6. Receiver Installation & Use: – Refer to instruction 76900N for receiver installation and use. – The instruction can be found with the receiver kit or visit www.draw-tite.com and search for part # 76900.   • If EXCESS SWAY occurs, take your foot off the gas pedal and hold the steering wheel as steady as possible. DO NOT apply your brakes and DO NOT speed up.

LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY

  1. Limited Lifetime Warranty (“Warranty”). Horizon Global (“We”, “Us” or “Our”) warrants to the original consumer purchaser only (“You” or “Your”) that the product will be free from material defects in both material and workmanship, ordinary wear and tear excepted. The Warranty is valid only if (a) the products are returned to Us for inspection and testing; (b) Our inspection discloses to Our satisfaction that any alleged nonconformance are material and have not been caused by misuse, neglect, wear and tear, improper installation, unsuitable storage, improper repair, alteration, or accident; and (c) the products were installed, maintained and used in compliance with Our instructions. THE WARRANTY IS MADE IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED (OTHER THAN THE WARRANTY OF TITLE AS PROVIDED BY THE UNIFORM COMMERCIAL CODE IN EFFECT IN MICHIGAN), INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, SAID WARRANTIES BEING EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMED.

Any returned product that is replaced by Us becomes our property. You may be responsible for return shipping costs. Installation Instructions

Install receiver housing to hitch

  1. Remove Receiver assembly from case.
  2. Remove the Receiver from the Receiver Housing. To separate both pieces, use the key to unlock blue knob. Push in the blue knob and then rotate clockwise until you hear a click sound. At this time, you can separate the Receiver from the Receiver Housing. See figures A, B & C.
  3. Install the Weather Covers to the top and bottom of the Receiver Housing. See figure D.
  4. Attach the Receiver Housing to the hitch. Insert the Receiver Housing in between the hitch brackets. Align with holes and insert (2) fastener assemblies (M12 bolt, flat washer, and prevailing torque nut). See figure E.
  5. Torque fasteners. Torque each of the fasteners in step 4 to 92 lb-ft (125 n*m).

Apply (1) label to the top of the receiver and (1) label to the vehicle door jamb. See figure F.

  1. Remove Taillights – Open liftgate, remove the taillight cover trim. Using pry tool pry inward on the cover remove. Using T25 Torx remove (2) screws securing the taillight to the vehicle. Slide the taillight toward the rear of the vehicle to remove. Disconnect electrical connector and set taillight aside. Repeat for other side.

  2. Remove cargo area floor panel – lift and remove floor panel.

  3. Remove threshold – Lift threshold straight up to remove. Using a prytool at the side of the threshold lift up and remove.

  4. Remove fascia fasteners – Locate and remove rubber grommets in the rear of the cargo area. Using a 10mm deep well socket remove the nuts that were concealed by the grommets.

  5. Remove wheel well fasteners – Inside the rear wheel well, behind the tire, locate the screws which are holding the bottom corner of the wheel well liner. Using a T25 torx remove these screws and fold the flexible liner back toward the tire. Behind the liner locate an additional screw and remove it. Repeat for other side.

  6. Remove fastener behind wheel well trim – Use outward pressure and find the end of the clips inside the wheel well. Press down on the clips with a pry tool to release them. Using a T25 Torx remove the screw behind the wheel well trim. Repeat for other side. NOTE: To protect the trim from being scratched during the removal or replacement, cover it with painter’s tape or something similar.

  7. Remove lower fascia screws – Using a T25 Torx , under the rear of the vehicle, remove screws from the bottom of the fascia.

  8. Remove fascia – Starting in the wheel well area, Pull outward on the top front of the rear fascia to expose a clip in the seam. With a plasti c pry tool, push down on the exposed clip to disconnect. Continue to pull outward on the fascia and disconnect clips as they are exposed. Repeat for other side. Slide fascia rearward to access electrical connectors on the driver side, unplug connectors. Set fascia aside.

  9. Remove impact beam – Using a 13mm socket, remove bolts holding impact beam to end panel. Return bolts and impact beam to vehicle owner. NOTE: Some models have a cellular antenna attached to the factory reinforcement beam. If present, using a 10mm socket remove from the factory reinforcement beam. The antenna will be reattached to stud used for another sensor on the end panel.

  10.  Install hitch – Insert hitch side brackets into the frame rails as shown in Fig. 1, align slots in hitch brackets with the holes in the frame rails (the holes may be covered with undercoating on the exterior of the frame, remove to install fasteners). Use supplied pullwires to install bolts and spacers through the hitch and vehicle frame (see Fig. 2). Install conical washers (teeth side toward vehicle frame) onto the bolts.

  11. Tighten all hitch fasteners with torque wrench to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N*M)
    Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.

  12. Relocate Cellular Antenna – Using a 10mm socket, remove the nuts holding the sensor to the end panel on the passenger side near the frame rail opening, pull sensor off of studs. Install the cellular antenna bracket onto the left stud and reinstall the sensor onto the studs and tighten nuts.

  13. Reinstall vehicle fascia and taillights – Reinstall fascia and taillights in reverse order of the steps outlined above. Be sure to reconnect any electrical connecters disconnected earlier.

Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cu t access or attachment holes with a torch.
This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of N ew York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
