Product Information

The product is Modulite HD Ultra W/Backup, with part number 119193. The product comes with a limited 1-year warranty and the warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, damage through abuse, neglect, misuse, or as a result of any accident or in any other manner, damage from misapplication, overloading, or improper installation, including welds, improper maintenance and repair, and product alteration in any manner by anyone other than the manufacturer. The product comes with a hardware kit that includes a heat-shrinkable butt connector, spade terminal, #8 screw, wiretap, fuse 25 Amp, double-sided tape, and fuse holder. The installation difficulty level is expert and requires tools like a glasses drill bit, wire crimper, Phillips screwdriver, test light, and wire stripper.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Before starting the installation process always wear safety glasses.
  2. Scan for safe towing tips or step-by-step photo installation instructions by visiting the website http://qr.towingproducts.net/qrproducts/qr-product.
  3. Check the hardware kit and ensure that all the required tools are available.
  4. Identify the wires based on their colors. The black wire is for power B+, the white wire is for the ground, the brown wire is for the rear light, the yellow wire is for LT/Brake, and the green wire is for RT/Brake.
  5. Probe one wire at a time carefully using a volt meter or circuit tester to determine the type of vehicle wiring system and the location of required input functions. Do not probe across two wires or across the vehicle structure.
  6. The product requires a wiring kit for installation that is sold separately with part number 118151.
  7. Follow the instructions provided on the website for the most up-to-date information regarding updates and current instructions.
  8. Make sure to follow the product instructions carefully and in a workmanlike manner. Any alteration to the product by anyone other than the manufacturer, apart from alterations made pursuant to product instructions, will void the warranty.
  9. After installation, test the product to ensure it is working correctly.

WARNING

  • To prevent SERIOUS INJURY, DEATH, or PROPERTY DAMAGE:
  • ALWAYS read and follow all warnings and instructions included with purchase before beginning installation. Keep for future reference.
  • DO NOT exceed lower of towing manufacturing rating (including in your vehicle owner’s manual) or specific amperage ratings stated on product.
  • ALWAYS read, understand and follow all warnings and instructions printed on tow vehicle’s battery.
  • ALWAYS wear safety glasses and use all safety precautions during installation.
  • Read and follow all warnings and cautions printed on the tow vehicle’s battery. All connections must be complete for T-One® Connector to function properly. Test and verify installation with a test light or trailer once installed. For initial test, reset vehicle electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.
  • DO NOT touch negative battery terminal to positive battery terminal. Serious Injury and damage to Vehicle’s electrical system can occur.
  • Overloading circuits can cause fires.
  • DO NOT exceed stated product ratings.

LIMITED 1-YEAR WARRANTY

  1. Limited Warranty. Horizon Global (“We” or “Us”) warrants to the original consumer purchaser only (“You”) that the product will be free from material defects in both material and workmanship for a specific period, ordinary wear and tear excepted; provided that installation and use of the product is in accordance with product instructions. There are no other warranties, express or implied, including the warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. If the product does not comply with this period specific limited warranty, Your sole and exclusive remedy is that We will replace the product without charge to You and within a reasonable time or, at our option, refund the purchase price. This warranty is not transferable.
  2. Limitations on the Warranty. This limited warranty does not cover: (a) normal wear and tear; (b) damage through abuse, neglect, misuse, or as a result of any accident or in any other manner; (c) damage from misapplication, overloading, or improper installation, including welds; (d) improper maintenance and repair; and (e) product alteration in any manner by anyone other than Us, with the sole exception of alterations made pursuant to product instructions and in a workmanlike manner.
  3. Obligations of Purchaser. To make a warranty claim, contact Us, at our principal address of 47912 Halyard Dr. Suite 100, Plymouth, MI 48170, 1-800-632-3290, identify the product by model number, and follow the claim instructions that will be provided. Any returned product that is replaced or refunded by Us becomes our property. You will be responsible for return shipping costs. Please retain your purchase receipt to verify date of purchase and that You are the original consumer purchaser. The product and the purchase receipt must be provided to Us in order to process Your warranty claim.
  4. Remedy Limits. Repair or replacement is Your sole remedy under this limited warranty, or any other warranty related to the product. We shall not be liable for service or labor charges incurred in removing or replacing a product or any incidental or consequential damages of any kind.
  5. Assumption of Risk. You acknowledge and agree that any use of the product for any purpose other than the specified use(s) stated in the product instructions is at Your own risk.
  6. Governing Law. This limited warranty gives You specific legal rights, and You also may have other rights which vary from state to state. This limited warranty is governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to rules pertaining to conflicts of law. The state courts located in Wayne County; Michigan shall have exclusive jurisdiction for any disputes relating to this warranty.

Testing:

When using a Volt meter or Circuit tester, carefully probe one wire at a time.

  • Module may not work with some BTT wiring systems. To alleviate, you may need to route tail wire to rear license plate illumination circuit and /or brake to center high stop light
    Tow Vehicle Inputs – Installations:

    Disconnect and isolate the Vehicle’s negative battery terminal.
     Read and follow all Warnings and Cautions printed on the tow vehicle’s battery.
    Splice the tow harness input wires to the vehicle as determined.
    When Splicing use appropriate gauge wire splices. Provided blue wire taps are for 16–18-gauge wire only.
    Harness Installation:

    Determine mounting location of the module. Secure using the double-sided tape provided. Using butt connector, connect module’s black wire and 12-gauge (or larger gauge) wire.| Verify what is behind any surface prior to drilling to avoid damage to the vehicle and/or personal injury. DO NOT drill into any exposed surfaces.
    Make sure modules is mounted so that the epoxy side of the module is pointed towards the ground to prevent any water buildup.| Route power wire to vehicle’s positive side of battery. Using fuse holder, Butt connector and ring terminal, connect to battery. Insure 25-amp fuse is removed from fuse holder prior to battery connection.
    Locate a suitable grounding point near the modules such as an existing ground stud or drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the eyelet and screw provided. (DO NOT drill into vehicle floor or bed.) Clean dirt and rustproofing from area.| Module must be connected to Constant power source. DO NOT use an alternative power source that is interrupted when vehicle is off.

| Route the wire being careful to avoid any hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tanks or any other points that may pinch or break the wire.
Completion:

Secure harness with the cable ties (purchased separately P/N 118151), to prevent damage or rattling. Be careful to avoid any areas that would pinch, cut or melt wire.| Activate each function separately for approximately 5 seconds (Taillights, Brake, Left Turn, Right Turn).
Reconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.| Test and verify installation with a test light or trailer once installed.
Insert 25-amp fuse into fuse holder and close cap.| Test each function independently and in combination.


Read and follow all warnings and cautions printed on the tow vehicle’s battery. All connections must be complete for Harness to function properly. Test and verify installation with a test light or trailer once installed. For initial test, reset vehicle electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition .

Heat the Shrinkable butt connector using a heat gun. Starting in the center of the splice connector. Heat Shrinkable butt connector from the center out to the edges on each end until the tubing shrinks and sealant flows. Allow to cool before inspecting the splice.

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE


4-Way not Functioning

| Ensure Connection points are fully inserted and locked in place. Remove module’s power fuse for 10 seconds and repeat test.| Check chassis grounds. Ensure ring terminals are in full contact with vehicle chassis. Remove module’s power fuse.




No Power to 4-Way

| ****

Installation may have activated circuit protection. Start Vehicle and turn all functions off: Tail (head lights), Brake and Turns. Remove Module power fuse for 10 seconds and repeat test.

| Ensure fuse is fully inserted into fuse holder. Fuse should have no breaks. Fuse holder connected properly to positive post of battery. Remove fuse for 10 seconds and repeat test. Ensure module is connected to B+. Using a tester or voltmeter check for voltage on either side of the yellow butt connector near the module. Remove module power fuse for 10 seconds and repeat test.
Routine Maintenance and General Inspection
Pre-trip inspection of 4-Way Flat Harness to insure no damage to terminals and connection points for proper lighting connection and operation.| Clean 4-Way Flat Connector after each use.
Clean the connection and add Dielectric grease (sold Separately) to the terminal pins.| Insure 4-Way Flat harness doesn’t Get pinched in Door latches, trailer connection points, or allow contact with the road surface.
