LG Essence White Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
Overview
ATTENTION INSTALLER: FOR A QUALITY INSTALLATION, FOLLOW THESE TIPS.
Note: The images in this guide may be different from the actual
components and accessories, which vary by model.
WARNING Electric Shock Hazard: Disconnect electrical supply to
refrigerator before installing. Failure to do so could result in death or
serious injury.
LIFT UNIT OFF SHIPPING BASE (Requires 2 people)
- Using the handles at the back top of the cabinet, and supporting the refrigerator at the bottom front, lift the unit off the shipping base.
- Use padded hand truck to protect refrigerator finish.
TRUCKING REFRIGERATOR
- Leave tape and all packaging on doors until refrigerator is in its final location.
- TRUCK FROM SIDE ONLY
- Avoid overtightening strap to prevent damaging doors.
REFRIGERATOR INSTALLATION
WHEN TO REMOVE DOORS: 21 cu. ft. models – if opening is less than 31″ wide
23-25 cu. ft. models – if opening is less than 35″ wide
28 cu. ft. models and larger – if opening is less than 36″ wide
TOOLS YOU MAY NEED
NOTE: Remove the doors rather than the handles if the refrigerator is too
big to fit through an opening.
Removing the handles could damage the door. See the Use & Care Guide for
detailed instructions.
CAUTION: When removing the top hinge, be careful that the door does not
fall forward.
Note: For models with ice through the door, disconnect all three harnesses in top left hinge.
TOP HINGES
- Remove cover screw and lift hinge cover.
- Disconnect door switch wire and remove hinge cover.
- Pull out water supply tube (dispenser models).
- Remove ground screw and disconnect wire harnesses.
- Rotate top hinge lever and lift door off middle hinge pin. (left door: counterclockwise; right door: clockwise)
- Open doors to a 90 degree angle before removing or re-installing them.
- Hold doors at a 90 degree angle when placing them on the hinge pin.
- Check that doors close properly before assembling the top hinge.
TUBING CONNECTION
(dispenser models)
Disconnect the water supply tube (A) before removing doors (B).

FREEZER DRAWER
Remove the screws from the rails at both ends.
DOOR ALIGNMENT
If refrigerator doors are uneven:
Type 1
Left and right doors: Use the wrench (included) to turn the nut in the door
hinge. (Turn counterclockwise to raise or clockwise to lower.)
Type 2
- Left door: Use the wrench (included with refrigerator) to turn the nut in the left door hinge.(Turn counterclockwise to raise or clockwise to lower.)
- Right door:
- Open the right door. Lift up both the inner and outer door sections at the middle hinge.
- While the door is lifted, have an assistant insert the snap ring on the middle hinge.
- The snap ring may differ depending on the model.
Snap ring type A
Use a pliers to insert the snap ring and insert additional snap rings until
the right door is aligned
Snap ring type B
Insert only one snap ring. If a snap ring is already inserted, remove it
before inserting another one
The door is heavy. To avoid injury, use two or more people to lift and align
the refrigerator door.
Small parts are a swallowing hazard for small children. Keep snap rings out of
the reach of children.
WARNING
Electrical Shock Hazard
LEVEL UNIT
Turn the leveling legs clockwise to raise the refrigerator or counterclockwise
to lower it. It may take several turns of the leveling legs to adjust the tilt
on the refrigerator.
FOR PERSONAL SAFETY
This appliance must be properly grounded. Have the wall outlet and the circuit
checked by a qualified electrician to make sure the outlet is properly
grounded.
CAUTION: Prior to plugging in this refrigerator to its power source
remove ALL protective film. Failure to do so may cause the refrigerator to go
into “Safe” mode where it appears the unit is dead. If the unit does go into
“Safe” mode simply unplug it for approximately 15 minutes, then restore power
to the unit.
NOTE: To obtain the best performance from your new refrigerator,
carefully read and follow all of the instructions contained in your Use & Care
Guide.
