IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

When using an electrical appliance, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following:

  • Do not allow to be used as a toy. Not intended for use by children age 12 and under. Close supervision is necessary when used near children. To avoid injury or damage, keep children away from product, and do not allow children to place fingers or other objects into any openings.
  • Use only as described in this manual. Use only manufacturer’s recommended attachments and products.
  • Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to a service center prior to continuing use.   • Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run appliance over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
  • Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
  • Do not handle plug or appliance with wet hands.
  • Do not put any objects into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.
  • Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.
  • Turn off all controls before unplugging.
  • Use extra care when cleaning on stairs. To avoid personal injury or damage, and to prevent the cleaner from falling, always place cleaner at bottom of stairs or on floor. Do not place cleaner on stairs or furniture, as it may result in injury or damage.
  • Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids, such as gasoline, or fine wood sandings or use in areas where they may be present.
  • Always turn off this appliance before connecting or disconnecting either hose or motorized nozzle.
  • Hold plug when rewinding onto cord reel. Do not allow plug to whip when rewinding.
  • Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
  • Do not use the vacuum cleaner without dirt container and/or filter in place.
  • WARNING: THIS PRODUCT CONTAINS CHEMICALS KNOWN TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO CAUSE CANCER, BIRTH DEFECTS OR REPRODUCTIVE HARM.

CAUTION: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF DAMAGE:

  • Do not use sharp objects to clean out hose as they can cause damage.
  • Not to be used for grooming a pet.
  • Avoid picking up hard, sharp objects with this product, as they may cause damage.
  • Store the product indoors. Put the product away after use to prevent tripping accidents.
  • Store in a dry place. Do not expose machine to freezing temperatures.

WARNING:
To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.

An internal thermal protector has been designed into your cleaner to protect it from overheating. When the thermal protector activates the cleaner will stop running. If this happens proceed as follows:

  1. Turn cleaner OFF and disconnect it from the electrical outlet.
  2. Empty dirt cup.
  3. Inspect the nozzle and bag inlet openings for any obstructions. Clear obstructions if present.
  4. When cleaner is unplugged and motor cools for 30 minutes, the thermal protector will deactivate and cleaning may continue.

If the thermal protector continues to activate after following the above steps, your cleaner may need servicing.

To the consumer, Royal Appliance Mfg. Co. warrants this product to be free of defects in material or workmanship commencing upon the date of the original purchase. Refer to the data plate label on your product for the length of warranty and save your original sales receipt to validate start of warranty period. If the product should become defective within the warranty period, we will repair or replace any defective parts free of charge. The complete machine must be delivered prepaid to any ROYAL® Authorized Sales & Warranty Service Station. Please include complete description of the problem, day of purchase, copy of original sales receipt and your name, address and telephone number. If you are not near a Warranty Station, call the factory for assistance at USA & Canada: 1-800-321-1134. Use only genuine Royal® replacement parts.
The warranty does not include unusual wear, damage resulting from accident or unreasonable use of the product.

HOW TO ASSEMBLE

WARNING: TO REDUCE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY – UNPLUG CLEANER BEFORE SERVICING

HOSE INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL

  1. Insert the hose connector into the hose inlet until it clips securely into position. (To remove the vacuum hose from the vacuum cleaner, press the fitting hooks then pull outwards. ATTACHMENT INSTALLATION

  2. Adjust the length of suction tube by pressing down tube lock and pulling out extension tube to the desired length. The tube will lock automatically upon release of the tube lock. ATTACH MOTORIZED POWER NOZZLE

  3. Attach the end of the suction tube to the hose handle of the vacuum hose.

  4. Insert extension wand into the motorized power nozzle. Push firmly until wand locks into place.

ATTACHMENTS

ATTACHMENT INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL

The hose can be used alone or with many combinations of wands and Tools.

  • Choose any of the accessories to meet your various cleaning needs.
    Then simply push it firmly onto the handle grip or wand end (1).

  • To lengthen the cleaning wand, press button on the extension wand and slide excess cleaning wand out (2).

  • To remove the tool, pull apart gently. To unlock the wand, push wand towards handle grip, press and hold. Release wand button while pullng wand away from handle grip.

NOTE: Please follow these instructions for attaching all other accessories.

CORD RELEASE / REWIND

  1. To release cord, pull outward from storage location. Only pull out cord to yellow tape. Do not pull out past the red tape.
  2. To rewind cord, push down on cord rewind button. Hold on to the plug while cord is rewinding to prevent cord from whipping around.

HOW TO OPERATE

ON/OFF SWITCH

**CAUTION:**
Pull out cord to the maximum length indicated with the yellow mark. Never pull the cable out to the red mark as the cable winding mechanism can be damaged.

  1. Pull out the cord to the desired length. Do not over extend cord. Plug into electrical outlet. Press the on/off switch to turn the unit on or off. BARE FLOOR CLEANING

  2. Brush roll ON/OFF button will stop motorized power nozzle brush roll from spinning for bare floor cleaning. BRUSH ROLL ON/OFF BUTTON
    CARPET CLEANING

  3. To adjust the brush roll height to one of the six positions available, press height adjust lever (located on back of nozzle) once for each position until correct position is achieved. HEIGHT ADJUST LEVER

  4. If something becomes lodged and brushroll shuts off, turn cleaner off, unplug and remove obstruction. Once the problem has been fixed and the reset button has been pressed the unit can be switched back on and ready for use again after approximately 2 minutes.

DIRT CUP & FILTER: REMOVAL & REPLACEMENT

**CAUTION:** To obtain the best result from your cleaner the dirt cup needs to be emptied regularly, otherwise shallow airflow and cleaning power will be reduced. When collected dust reaches the “MAX” level marked on the Dirt Cup and performance deteriorates it is necessary to clean the Dirt Cup. Always check if there are any blockages in the accessories or hoses and follow the filter cleaning instructions for optimum performance.

DIRT CONTAINER REMOVAL

  1. Carefully remove the Dirt Cup by lifting the Dirt Cup Release Latch (A) EMPTY DIRT CONTAINER
  2. Hold Dirt Cup over wastebasket and press the Dirt Cup Release Button. (B)

DIRT CUP & FILTER: REMOVAL & REPLACEMENT: CONT.

REMOVE, RINSE AND REPLACE FILTER

  1. Separate dirt cup lid from dirt container by turning counterclockwise.

  2. Remove premotor filter frame from dirt cup. Separate filter and frame.

  3. Hold filters under running water to rinse. DO NOT use soap/detergent. Allow filter to COMPLETELY DRY for at least 24 hours. IMPORTANT: DO NOT REASSEMBLE FILTER ASSEMBLY UNTIL FILTERS HAVE COMPLETELY DRIED.
    Frame can also be rinsed.

  4. Remove Exhaust Filter Cover (A) by rotating counterclockwise.

  5. Remove Exhaust Filter (B) and hold under running water to rinse. DO NOT use soap/detergent. Allow  filter to COMPLETELYDRY for at least 24 hours.

  6. Replace Exhaust Filter and Exhaust Filter cover back into the unit, in the same way they were removed. Allow filter to COMPLETELY DRY for at least  24 hours. IMPORTANT: DO NOT REASSEMBLE FILTER ASSEMBLY UNTIL EXHAUST FILTER HAS COMPLETELY DRIED.

CLEANING THE SUCTION TUBE

WARNING: TO REDUCE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY – UNPLUG CLEANER BEFORE SERVICING.

  1. Unclip and remove the Plastic Cover from the bottom of the cleaner. Remove any blockages in the suction tube.
  2. Clip the Plastic Cover back into the unit. NOTE: For best results clean suction tube regularly.

LIGHTBULB: REMOVAL & REPLACEMENT

TOOL REQUIRED: PHILLIPS SCREWDRIVER

Remove power nozzle from
extension wand. Pivot handle
back. Remove the two (2) screws.| Lift lens cover to remove.| Pull bulb of of socket.
Do NOT twist. Gently
push bulb into socket to replace.| Snap lens back into
place. Secure the headlight
lens by replacing the two (2) screws.

STORAGE

BEFORE STORING CLEANER:

  1. Turn unit off.
  2. Unplug and rewind power cord.
  3. Place tools in tool storage.
  4. Empty the dust cup and clean filter before storage.
