Product Usage Instructions

  1. Read all instructions carefully before assembly and use.
  2. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to assemble the product fully before use.
  3. Before using the product, read all safety warnings and instructions carefully.
  4. When using an electrical outlet, make sure to use a polarized outlet and plug the polarized plug in the right way. If the plug does not fit into the outlet entirely, reverse the plug or contact a qualified electrician to install the right outlet. Do not change the plug in any other way.
  5. If the thermal protector activates, turn off and unplug the cleaner from the electrical outlet, empty the dirt cup, and inspect nozzle inlet, hose connector, hose, dirt cup inlet, cyclonic filter, and rinsable filter. When the motor cools for 30 minutes, the thermal protector will deactivate, and cleaning may continue. If the thermal protector continues to activate after following these steps, your cleaner needs servicing.
  6. Fully assemble the product before use.
  7. Attach the extension hose at both ends on the back of the unit and route hose around the upper handle hose hook. Then place tools in on-board storage and wrap cord around cord hooks.
  8. Plug power cord into an outlet and press ON/OFF pedal to turn on. Place foot on base and pull back to recline.
  9. For above-floor cleaning, press the wand release button and pull wand up and out. Insert hose into the wand and push the tools on the wand for convenient cleaning. When you’re done, twist and pull to take them off.
  10. Assemble dirt cup and make sure cyclonic assembly is aligned in the notch and twist the lid into the locked position. Position the dirt cup and push back to lock into place.
  11. Do not use the product for grooming pets.
  12. Unplug the vacuum before connecting hose, wand, or tools.

  • Fully assemble product prior to use.
  • Operate cleaner only at voltage specifi ed on data plate on bottom of cleaner.
  • Do not leave product when plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning or servicing.
  • Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
  • Do not allow to be used as a toy. Not intended for use by children age 12 and under. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children. To avoid injury or damage, keep children away from product, and do not allow children to place fi ngers or other objects into any openings.
  • Use only as described in this users manual. Use only manufacturer’s recommended attachments.
  • Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If product is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, call customer service at 1- 800 321-1134 prior to continuing use.
  • Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as han-dle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not place product on cord. Do not run product over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
  • Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
  • Do not handle plug or product with wet hands.
  • Do not put any objects into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air fl ow.
  • Keep hair, loose clothing, fi ngers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts. Brushroll continues to rotate when in upright position.
  • Turn off all controls before unplugging.
  • Use extra care when cleaning on stairs. To avoid personal injury or damage, and to prevent the cleaner from falling, always place cleaner at bottom of stairs or on fl oor. Do not place cleaner on stairs or furniture, as it may result in injury or damage.
  • When using tools, always ensure handle is in upright position.
  • Do not use to pick up fl ammable or combus-tible liquids, such as gasoline, or use in areas where they may be present.
  • Unplug before connecting Turbo Tool.
  • Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
  • Do not use without fi lters and/or dirt cup in place.

CAUTION:
TO REDUCE THE RISK OF DAMAGE:

  • Avoid picking up hard, sharp objects with this product, as they may cause damage.

  • • Store appropriately indoors in a dry place. Do not expose machine to freezing temperatures.
    • Do not use sharp objects to clean out hose as they can cause damage.

  • • With brushroll on, do not allow cleaner to sit in one location for an extended period of time, as damage to fl oor can result.
    • Brushroll continues to turn while product is turned on and the handle is in the upright position. To avoid damage to carpet, rugs, and fl ooring, avoid tipping cleaner or setting it on furniture, fringed area rugs or carpeted stairs during tool use.

  • WARNING:TO REDUCE THE RISK
    OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, THIS PRODUCT HAS A POLARIZED PLUG (ONE BLADE IS WIDER THAN THE OTHER). THIS PLUG WILL FIT IN A POLARIZED OUTLET ONLY ONE WAY. IF THE PLUG DOES NOT FIT FULLY IN THE OUTLET, REVERSE THE PLUG. IF IT STILL DOES NOT FIT, CONTACT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN TO INSTALL THE PROPER OUTLET. DO NOT CHANGE THE PLUG IN ANY WAY.

NOTICE:
A THERMAL PROTECTOR HAS BEEN DESIGNED INTO YOUR CLEANER TO PROTECT IT FROM OVERHEATING. WHEN THE THERMAL PROTECTOR ACTIVATES THE CLEANER WILL STOP RUNNING.
If this happens proceed as follows:

  1. Turn cleaner OFF and unplug it from the electrical outlet.
  2. Empty dirt cup.
  3. Inspect the nozzle inlet, hose connector, hose, dirt cup inlet, cyclonic fi lter and rinsable fi lter.
  4. When cleaner is turned off and motor cools for 30 minutes, the thermal protector will deactivate and cleaning may continue.

If the thermal protector continues to activate after following the above steps, your cleaner needs servicing.

ASSEMBLY

Fully assemble product prior to use.

  1. ssemble from the front of the unit and slide the back panel down into place. Then slide the handle into the top.
  2. Using Phillips-head screwdriver, drive screw into back panel to secure to the base.
  3. ssemble dirt cup and make sure cyclonic assembly is aligned in the notch and twist the lid into the locked position.
  4. Position dirt cup and push back to lock into place.
  5. Attach the extension hose at both ends on the back of the unit and route hose around the upper handle hose hook. Then place tools in on-board storage and wrap cord around cord hooks
  6. Plug power cord into an outlet and press ON/OFF pedal to turn on. Place foot on base and pull back to recline.

TOOLS

**QUICK RELEASE CLEANING WAND***

  1. Press the wand release button.
  2. ull wand up & out and insert hose to wand.
  3. Push the tools on the wand*for convenient cleaning. When you’re done, twist & pull to take them off .

COMPLETE ON-BOARD TOOLKIT

CAUTION: Not to be used for grooming a pet.
WARNING:Unplug vacuum before connecting hose, wand or tools.

2-IN-1 COMBO TOOL: Use the Crevice Tool for tight spaces, corners and along stair edges and baseboards. Try the Dusting Brush for furniture, table tops, lamps, blinds and more. Press the lock button (A) down and slide to switch between modes.

EXTENSION WAND: Attach to cleaning wand for longer reach on above and hard fl oor cleaning.

TURBO TOOL®: For upholstered furniture, draperies, mattresses and stairs.

ABOVE FLOOR CLEANING

CAUTION:Use extra care when cleaning
on stairs. To avoid personal injury or damage, and to prevent the cleaner from falling, always place cleaner at bottom of stairs or on fl oor. Do not place cleaner on stairs or furniture, as it may result in injury or damage. When using tools, always ensure handle is in upright position.

  1. Remove Quick Release Cleaning Handle Wand for convenient above fl oor cleaning.
  2. nsert hose into handle wand.
  3. ttach extension wand and 2-in-1 tool for improved cleaning.

HOW TO

WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury – Unplug before cleaning or servicing. Do not use vacuum without dirt cup or fi lters in place. This product contains no serviceable parts. If appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, call customer service at 1-800-321-1134 prior to continuing use.

EMPTY THE DIRT CUP

  1. ump the dirt when it’s full.
  2. Push the release button (A) then pull out the dirt cup.
  3. Now ditch the dirt by pushing the lower button (B). Give it a wipe to remove dust.
  4. Place back in bottom fi rst. Push the top of the cup against the back panel and it’ll click into place.

CLEAN THE RINSABLE FILTER AND CYCLONIC ASSEMBLY

WARNING:To reduce the risk of personal injury – Unplug before cleaning or servicing. Do not use vacuum without dirt cup or fi lters in place.

CLEAN THE RINSABLE FILTER AND CYCLONIC ASSEMBLY (CONT’D)

  1. Remove the dirt cup. Twist the handle to remove the top from the dirt cup. Gently remove the fi lter from the the handle.
  2. Tap clean into a trashcan.
  3. All pieces are rinsable. Allow to dry 24 hours before using.
  4. Next pull cyclonic assembly out of the dirt cup.
  5. Use the Dusting Tool to clean the cyclonic assembly.*
  6. When reassembling, ensure the cyclonic assembly is aligned and twist the lid into the locked position.

**CLEAN THE EXHAUST FILTER***

WARNING:To reduce the risk of personal injury – Unplug before cleaning or servicing. Do not use vacuum without dirt cup or fi lters in place.

  1. Push the tab on the front of the cover to pivot out.
  2. Pull out the fi lter, rinse dirt from both sides, and let air dry for 24 hours before reinstalling or until dry.
  3. ut the dry fi lter back. Now line up the fi lter cover with the bottom tabs fi rst and then snap back into place.
    *Not all models have this feature.

CLEAN THE BRUSHROLL

CAUTION:To reduce the risk of injury from moving parts – Unplug before servicing.

  1. Turn your vacuum over. Use a Phillips screwdriver to take off the 6 screws. Remove the bottom plate.
  2. Clean the brushroll.
  3. Slide on belt with the lettering on the outside.

REPLACE THE BELT
CAUTION:To reduce the risk of injury from moving parts – Unplug before servicing.

  1. Turn your vacuum over. Use a Phillips screwdriver to take off the 6 screws. Remove the bottom plate.
  2. Then take off that old belt. Slide on a new belt with the lettering on the outside.
  3. Pull on belt to slip around the brushroll in area without bristles (A) and metal pin (B). Each end of the brushroll will fi t into pockets on each side of the nozzle (C). Put the plate back on and screw together.

LUBRICATION: The motor and brushroll are equipped with bearings that contain sufficient lubrication for their lifetime. The addition of lubricant could cause damage. Do not add lubricant to motor or brushroll.

TROUBLESHOOTING

IF APPLIANCE IS NOT WORKING AS IT SHOULD, HAS BEEN DROPPED, DAMAGED, LEFT OUTDOORS, OR DROPPED INTO WATER, CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-321-1134 PRIOR TO CONTINUING USE. THIS PRODUCT CONTAINS NO SERVICEABLE PARTS.

WARRANTY

1 (ONE) YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
If this product is not as warranted, contact the Dirt Devil® Consumer Response Center at
1-800-321-1134. Please have available the proof of purchase and model number for the warranted product. Failure to register the product does not diminish product warranty rights.

WHAT THIS WARRANTY COVERS: This limited warranty provided by Royal Appliance Mfg. Co., doing business as TTI Floor Care North America (referred to hereafter as “Dirt Devil”) applies only to products purchased in the U.S. (including its territories and possessions), at a U.S. Military Exchange, or in Canada. When used and maintained in normal household use and in accordance with the Owner’s Guide, your Dirt Devil® product is warranted against original defects in material and workmanship for the number of years from the date of original purchase stated above (the “Warranty Period”). If Dirt Devil determines that the issue you are experiencing is covered under the terms of this warranty (a “covered warranty claim”), we will, at our sole discretion and free of charge (subject to the cost of shipping), either repair your product or ship you a replacement product, subject to availability. Parts and replacements may be new, refurbished, lightly used, or remanufactured, in Dirt Devil’s sole discretion. If parts and replacements are unavailable, we may, at our discretion, provide a similar product of equal or greater value, a store credit (if applicable), or a refund of the actual purchase price at the time of the original purchase, as refl ected on the original sales receipt.

WHO THIS LIMITED WARRANTY COVERS : This limited warranty extends only to the original retail purchaser, with original proof of purchase from Dirt Devil or an authorized dealer of Dirt Devil products, in the U.S., U.S. Military Exchanges, and Canada.
WHAT THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER : This warranty does not cover use of the product in a commercial operation (such as maid, janitorial, and equipment rental services, or any other income-generating activity); improper maintenance of the product; the product if it has been subject to misuse, negligence, neglect, vandalism, or the use of voltages other than that on the data plate of this product. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from an act of God, accident, owner’s acts or omissions, service of this product by other than Dirt Devil or a Dirt Devil authorized service provider (if applicable), or other acts beyond the control of Dirt Devil. This warranty also does not cover use outside the country in which the product was initially purchased, or resale of the product by the original owner. Pick-up, delivery, transportation, and house calls are not covered by this warranty. In addition, this warranty does not cover any product that has been altered or modifi ed; repairs made necessary by normal wear; or the use of parts or accessories which are either  incompatible with the Dirt Devil product or adversely aff ect its operation, performance, or durability. Normal wear items that are not covered under this warranty include, but are not limited to, belts, fi lters, brush rolls, vacuum tubes, and vacuum bags and straps.
OTHER IMPORTANT TERMS: This warranty is not transferable and may not be assigned; any assignment made in contravention of this prohibition is void. This warranty shall be governed and construed under the laws of the state of North Carolina. The Warranty Period will not be extended by any replacement of batteries or parts or repair performed under this warranty. THIS WARRANTY IS THE EXCLUSIVE WARRANTY AND REMEDY, AND ALL EXPRESS AND IMPLIED WARRANTIES OTHER THAN THE LIMITED WARRANTY SET FORTH ABOVE, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMED. IN NO EVENT WILL DIRT DEVIL BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND OR NATURE TO OWNER OR ANY PARTY CLAIMING THROUGH OWNER, WHETHER BASED IN CONTRACT, NEGLIGENCE, TORT, OR STRICT PRODUCTS LIABILITY OR ARISING FROM ANY CAUSE WHATSOEVER. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, NO WARRANTIES THAT ARISE BY OPERATION OF LAW, IF APPLICABLE, SHALL EXCEED THE DURATION OF THE LIMITED WARRANTY PROVIDED HEREIN. Dirt Devil’s liability for damages to you for any costs whatsoever arising out of this statement of limited warranty shall be limited to the amount paid for this product at the time of original purchase and Dirt Devil shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, consequential, or incidental damages arising out of the use or inability to use this product. Both the disclaimer and the limitations of liability set forth above shall apply even in the event that this limited warranty fails of its essential purpose.
Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, disclaimers of implied warranties, or limitations on the duration of implied warranties, so the above exclusions, disclaimers, and/or limitations may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specifi c legal rights, and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state.
