IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, especially when children are present, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING KEEP AWAY FROM WATER

DANGER: As with most electrical appliances, electrical parts are electrically live even when the switch is off. To reduce the risk of death by electric shock:

Always “unplug it” immediately after using.
Do not use while bathing.
Do not place or store appliance where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink.
Do not place in or drop into water or other liquid.
If an appliance falls into water, “unplug it” immediately. Do not reach into the water.

WARNING: To reduce the risk of burns, electrocution, fire, or injury to persons:

An appliance should never be left unattended when plugged in.
Close supervision is necessary when this appliance is used by, on or near children or individuals with certain disabilities.
Use this appliance only for its intended use as described in this manual. Do not use attachments not recommended by Andis.
Never operate this appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not working properly, if it has been damaged, or dropped into water. Return the appliance to an Andis Authorized Service Station for examination and repair.
Keep the cord away from heated surfaces. Do not wrap the cord around the appliance.
Never block the air openings of the appliance or place it on a soft surface such as a bed or couch, where the air openings may be blocked. Keep the air openings free of lint, hair, etc.
Never use while sleeping.
Never drop or insert any object into any openings.
Do not use outdoors, or operate where aerosol (spray) products are being used or where oxygen is being administered.
Do not use an extension cord with this appliance.
Do not direct hot air toward eyes or other heat sensitive areas.
Attachments may be hot during use. Allow them to cool before handling.
Do not place appliance on any surface while it is operating.
While using the appliance–keep your hair away from the air inlets.
Do not operate with a voltage converter.

This appliance is intended for household use.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature, the plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still doesn’t fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature. If this unit shuts itself off, first press the reset button on the ALCI plug. If it still does not run, the thermal protectors that are built into this dryer may have operated. If the unit still does not run after being allowed to cool, return the unit for servicing.

HEAT SELECTIONS AND COOL SHOT

This dryer is equipped with a cool shot button. To achieve the cool shot of air, just press the button located on the top front portion of the handle. The cool shot is ideal for locking in curl for longer lasting style. Just concentrate cool air on desired curl until set.

HOW YOUR ANDIS DRYER WITH SHOCK PROTECTION WORKS

This Andis hair dryer has been manufactured with an APPLIANCE LEAKAGE CIRCUIT INTERRUPTER (ALCI) safety plug. This mechanism will shut the dryer off (making it inoperable) under abnormal conditions, such as falling or being immersed in water. If this appliance becomes inoperable, return it to an Andis Authorized Service Station for examination and repair. The ALCI Shock Protection Plug is equipped with a test and a reset button. Below are instructions on their use.

TEST BEFORE EACH USE

Plug the ALCI Shock Protection Plug into a 110-120 volt electrical outlet (ordinary household current). Do not attempt to use any other electrical outlet.
Before attempting to switch the dryer on, perform the following test: Press the test button, the reset button should pop up. This confirms that the safety plug is working properly.
Now press the reset button and your dryer with the Shock Protection Plug will be operable and the power switch of your dryer may be turned on for normal use.
If this appliance does not operate in the proper functioning condition, it should be either returned to an Andis Authorized Service Station for examination and repair, or discarded.

RETRACTABLE CORD

Slowly pull the cord out from the dryer. Do not pull cord past the red mark.
DO NOT YANK OR SNAP THE CORD. Plug the dryer in, turn it on, and use like any other blow dryer.
When you have finished styling your hair, unplug and allow the dryer to cool.
NEVER RETRACT THE CORD WHILE THE DRYER IS PLUGGED IN.
Hold the dryer upright and away from your face. Push and hold the retract button with one hand while holding the plug in the other hand, ensuring that the cord does not twist as it rewinds. If it does not completely retract, pull the cord out slightly and then guide the cord again.
DO NOT PERMIT SMALL CHILDREN TO OPERATE THE RETRACT FEATURE.
The cord could whip while retracting and cause injury.

MODELS WITH CERAMIC AND IONIC TECHNOLOGY

Even-heat ceramic technology preserves natural oils and seals in moisture for shiny, silky, healthy hair. The ionic dryer breaks water molecule clusters into micro-fine particles while penetrating the hair shaft. Moisture balance is restored and the hair cuticle is sealed. The results achieved with the ionic dryer are immediate. Hair is renewed, repaired and revitalized for a softer, smoother, shinier finish.

USER MAINTENANCE

This appliance does not require special maintenance, cleaning or lubrication. Service only through Andis Authorized Service Stations. Untwist cord before use. After use, re-wrap cord and store unit in a safe place. Do not wrap cord tightly around appliance. Do not hang the unit by the power cord.

CLEANING

The hair dryer must be unplugged before it is cleaned.
Clean the external surfaces of the hair dryer with sponge or soft rag moistened with a mild soap and water solution. Do not use harsh cleaners, detergents, or solvents.
Dry the hair dryer thoroughly before use.
Clean screen with vacuum cleaner.

HOW TO BLOW DRY

Towel-pat wet hair to remove excess water and to shorten drying time; untangle hair. Part hair into sections; blow dry hair section by section. Choose setting that is most comfortable and that gives best results. Heat molds and puffs up hair to give it body and fullness. The way you lift and dry damp hair at scalp, and turn the ends, will determine the direction of the hair.

Manufacturer’s 60 Month Limited Warranty

Andis warrants this product to the original purchaser against defective material or workmanship for five years from purchase date. All implied warranties are also limited to five years. If this Andis product fails to operate properly under normal household use conditions within the warranty period because of defect in workmanship or material, Andis will replace the unit without cost to consumer for parts and labor. The defective product must be returned via parcel post insured or U.P.S., with proof of purchase to any Andis Authorized Service Station or to Andis, 1800 Renaissance Blvd., Sturtevant, WI 53177 USA. In Canada, please call 1-800-335-4093 for repair information. Attach a letter describing the nature of the problem. Andis will not be responsible for cost of repairs or alterations made by any other person, agency or company, nor for incidental or consequential damages of any type, or for the use of unauthorized attachments. Some states may not allow exclusion of limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
