SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
THIS PRODUCT INTENDED FOR PROFESSIONAL USE
These instructions only apply to trimmers with a 2-prong plug:
To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.
GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
These instructions only apply to trimmers with a 3-prong plug:
This appliance should be grounded. In the event of an electrical short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of electric shock by providing an escape wire for the electric current. This appliance is equipped with a cord having a grounding wire with an appropriate grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
DANGER
Improper use of the grounding plug can result in a risk of electric shock. If repair or replacement of the cord or plug is necessary, do not connect the grounding wire to either flat-blade terminal. The wire with insulation having an outer surface that is green with or without yellow stripes is the grounding wire. Check with a qualified electrician or serviceman if the grounding instructions are not completely understood, or if in doubt as to whether the appliance is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided; if it will not fit the outlet, have the proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. This appliance is for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit, and has a grounding plug (Figure A). A temporary adapter (Figures B & C) may be used to connect this plug to a 2-pole receptacle (Figure B) if a properly grounded outlet is not available. The temporary adapter should be used only until a properly grounded outlet (Figure A) can be installed by a qualified electrician. The green colored rigid ear, lug, or the like extending from the adapter must be connected to a permanent ground such as a properly grounded outlet-box cover. Whenever the adapter is used, it must be held in place by a metal screw.

CARE AND SERVICING OF YOUR ANDIS TRIMMER BLADES
Blades should be oiled before, during, and after each use. If your trimmer blades leave streaks or slows down, it’s a sure sign blades need oil. The trimmer should be held in a position shown (Figure D) to prevent oil from getting into motor. Place a few drops of Andis Clipper Oil on the front and side of the cutter blades (Figure E). Wipe excess oil off blades with a soft dry cloth. Spray lubricants contain insufficient oil for good lubrication, but are an excellent trimmer coolant. Always replace broken or nicked blades to prevent injury. You can clean the excess hair from your blades by using a small brush or worn out tooth brush. To clean the blades we suggest to immerse the blades only into a shallow pan of Andis Clipper Oil, while the trimmer is running. Any excess hair and dirt that has accumulated between the blades should come out. After cleaning, turn your trimmer off and dry blades with a dry cloth and start clipping again.
REPLACEMENT (REMOVAL) OF BLADE SET
NOTE: If you are familiar with replacing and adjusting Andis GO and GTO trimmer blades, please read the following blade replacement instructions.
If you are not familiar with this procedure, please return trimmer to your supplier or an Andis Authorized Service Station for blade replacement and adjustment.
To remove blade set from your trimmer, unplug your trimmer from the electrical outlet. Turn the trimmer upside down so the teeth of blades are facing down. You may wish to set the trimmer on a flat surface while performing these operations. Unscrew the two blade screws (Figure F). Remove blade set from trimmer. To install your new trimmer blade set, align hole in upper blade (smaller of the two blades) and center over nylon roller (ball) of the trimmer’s tension spring (Figure G). Align screw holes of lower blade (larger of the two blades) to armature screw holes. While holding blade in place, replace blade screws; do not tighten down completely. Turn trimmer over and align the blade set parallel to the trimmer’s upper housing.
IMPORTANT: Check blade alignment, making sure the teeth of the upper blade rest slightly below the upper edge of teeth on lower blade (Figure H). Failure to check the position of blade may cause cutting or scratching of your client’s skin when trimming. Tighten down blade screws firmly. If after turning on the trimmer you notice the hair guard is hitting the upper blade (Figure I) loosen hair guard screws slightly and adjust hair guard away from the upper blade approximately 1/32″. Tighten down hair guard screws.

Frequently Asked Questions
Hi, I’m very prone to ingrown neck hairs and am considering this for my neck. Can it be used on the neck and face as a shaver on a daily basis?****
I too get ingrown hairs on my face/neck when using razors or electric shavers (I’ve tried 4 different sets ranging from 50-100$ each). This beats them all. It shaves close enough so that there is not too much stubble by 5pm but doesn’t trim flush with the surface of the skin so ingrown hairs aren’t much of an issue. David mentioned that it gets hot quickly–it does. However it takes less than 5-10 minutes to get an even shave on my face, neck, back of neck and shoulders. Typically it takes 15-20 minutes of continual use before it gets uncomfortable for me personally (I’ve used it to shave my entire head. If you choose to do that I recommend trimming the hairs close first with no guard on another set of clippers and these to finish; they can pinch if my hair is longer than 3/4″.
What’s the difference between it, and the T-Outliner? If no difference, then can I buy the one of them, and the other’s one blade to switch between?****
I have tried both…and as a person who uses these at home, I much prefer the regular outliner instead of the “T” blade. The “T” is a little awkward for me, as far as curves and getting in corners. Also the “T” is more prone to being bumped and having teeth break.
Can I use this to shave y head? Read some reviews on this and some say not for use on top of head? Like bald look but don’t want to use razor.****
I have been using this very shaver to shave my head since 2011 at least twice a week sometimes more depending on how bald or clean shaven I want to be. I only replace the blades, that are like $17. I am treating myself to a new pair only because my mind knows it’s been 9 years so I want a new pair. So yes you can definitely shave your head bald like I have been doing.
Would you all recommend this for edge-ups?****
It came broken and defective. I don’t recommend it for anything.
Are these ideal for cutting a bald head if you don’t want to use a razor****
No trimmer/edger will get as close as a razor. These however are the next best thing.
Any idea how long these blades last?****
I use it only for myself, once per week and the blade lasts about 1-1/2 years. Keep it clean and oiled, it will serve you well.
Does anyone think this could be used as a body hair trimmer? I would NOT trust clippers down below, but for legs, chest, arms, etc?****
My man uses it everywhere it’s perfect for thick hair or thin hair.
Does this work well with the texture of hair for an African American male?****
It is not the miracle “shaver” so many seem to make it out to be. I’ve used these for years for shaving when I don’t have a beard. You get a pretty close shave, but not like a razor. It also depends upon the texture of your hair and how dark your complexion is. I am lighter skinned and I have to let the beard grow a couple of days before clippering, in order to get a decent cut. I CANNOT use it everyday because it will cause me to have ingrown hairs. I also, if not careful, will still end up with irritation bumps because my skin is very sensitive and it shows because of the complexion. Using any type of preshave lotion will just gunk up your blade. So, if you are darker skinned and/or your skin isn’t extra sensitive, then you might get away with daily shaving with the clipper.
Can this clean shave your entire head?****
Yes. I have been using it to shave my entire head for years. It provides a smooth clean shave without having the irritation of a razor. You will be pleased.
How often should I replace the blades? I’ve been using this over 1 1/2 years for myself beard trimming.****
I just try to keep them oiled after ervery 3 uses.. The blades should be good to go… .I had the same blades on my old ones for over 8 years.. I sent them to my barber for replacement. He advised just keep them oiled up and sanitized you shouldnt have a problem.
I need to know if this device can be used for shaving the face with goatee?.****
Yes you can do a “clipper shave” with these clippers. It won’t be as smooth as a razor shave but there will be less irritation.
