ATTENTION 

Read this booklet carefully as it contains important instructions for a safe installation, use and maintenance.
Important instructions to be kept for future reference.
The following basic precautions should always be followed when using electrical appliances:

  1. Read all instructions before using the appliance.
    The Appliance

  2. This appliance must be used only for the purpose it was expressly designed; any use NOT complying with the instructions contained in the manual is considered inappropriate and dangerous. The manufacturer is NOT responsible for possible damages caused by the inappropriate and/or unreasonable use.

  3. The installation/assembly of the appliance will be made in accordance with the indications of the manufacturer. A wrong procedure may cause damages to persons, animals or objects, for which the manufacturer cannot be considered responsible.

  4. Before use, check the integrity of the appliance and power cable. DO NOT operate the appliance when its housing is damaged. In case you are not sure, contact a qualified person. If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a qualified technician in order to avoid a shock hazard.

  5. Before powering the appliance make sure the rating (voltage and frequency) corresponding to the grid and the socket is suitable for the plug of the appliance, and that the wall socket is properly grounded. This appliance is fitted with an earth wire for extra safety.

  6. DO NOT power the appliance using multiple sockets. If possible, avoid the use of adapters and/or extension cables; if their use is absolutely necessary, use only materials in compliance with the current safety regulations and according to the electrical parameters of the adapters.

  7. The appliance must NOT be switched on using external timers and/or other remote control appliances which are not specified in this manual.

  8. Only use original components & accessories provided by the manufacturer. Any non-original component or accessory NOT recommended by the manufacturer (including those made by other manufacturers or by the same manufacturer but for other models) may cause injuries to persons or damage to the appliance.

  9. The packing materials (plastic bags, expanded polystyrene, etc.) must be kept out of the reach of children or disabled persons since they represent potential sources of danger.
    Location

  10. During transportation of this appliance, it should NOT be subjected to an inclination of greater than 45° to the horizontal, so as to prevent damage to the compressor and refrigeration system of the appliance.

  11. This appliance is NOT suitable to be used or stored near heat sources (open flame, ovens, heaters, stoves, etc.) and/or in an explosive environment (in the presence of flammable substances such as gas, vapour, mist or dust, in atmospheric conditions when, after ignition, the combustion is spread in the air). Items containing these substances should never be placed in the appliance, and never be used to clean the appliance in order to avert the risk of fire or explosion.

  12. The appliance should NOT be placed on a surface, or in the vicinity of, objects which can be damaged by heat, such as carpets or plastics. DO NOT locate multiple portable socket outlets or power supplies at the bottom or rear of the appliance. During operation, as heat is transferred away from the appliance, the surface that the appliance is placed upon as well the surface immediately above or adjacent to it may become very hot. There should be at least 10 cm of free space from the back, left & right sides and at least 30 cm from the top to allow adequate air circulation to cool the compressor. Never put things on top of the appliance. If the appliance is operated on wooden furniture, use a protective pad to prevent damage to delicate finishes.

  13. DO NOT touch the back and bottom of the appliance while it is operating to prevent scalding, as the regions become hot as the appliance operates.

  14. Avoid placing the power cable on abrasive or sharp surfaces or in positions where it can be damaged easily. The cable must NOT be placed under carpets, or covered with throw rugs, runners or similar. Arrange the cable away from the high traffic area, and where it will NOT be tripped over.

  15. DO NOT use or store the appliance outdoors. Store and use the appliance only indoors, or in any case, protected from weathering such as rain, direct radiation of the sun and dust.
    Operation

  16. If you are using the appliance for the first time, you should:

    • a. Clean the inside of the appliance with water & detergent with a non-abrasive sponge. Ensure that the appliance is completely dry before use. DO NOT use metal scouring pads.

    • b. Place the appliance upright on a horizontal, stable, dry and heat-resistant surface for at least an hour before switching on the appliance. Damage to the appliance may occur if it is placed on an incline or decline.

    • c. (First use)

    • Switch the appliance ON
      Turn the Temperature Control Rotary Knob between 3~4. Plug the power cable into the wall socket and switch the appliance on. Check that the Indicator Light, Compressor and Ventilation Fan are all working smoothly.
      (henceforth “switching the appliance on” is intended to include the steps above)

    • After half an hour, the temperature inside the appliance should already be cool, and gradually getting colder. Let the Compressor operate for a period of at least 2 – 3 hours before placing food & drinks into the appliance.

    • Always wear protective, insulated gloves when handling and inserting/removing frozen items from the appliance, especially if contact with the frozen items is prolonged. This is not due to any fault of the appliance, but rather, is the nature of frozen objects. DO NOT dismiss this warning as frostbite can occur even in tropical climates, which if NOT treated in time, can turn gangrenous and may require amputation of the limb or worse.

    • Make sure to remove any label or protective sheet which may prevent its proper functioning.
      DO NOT:

    • cover the appliance during functioning;

    • insert objects or body parts inside the protection cover of the appliance;

    • turn the Temperature Control Rotary Knob from a higher value to a lower one (or vice versa) without first gradually adjusting its value in stages over several hours;

    • turn the Temperature Control Rotary Knob too hard so as to avoid any damage;

    • put oversized foods or large amounts of food into the appliance at the same time;

    • store containers made of glass or canned items in the Freezer section of the appliance as they may break or explode upon freezing;

    • store medicine or medical products in the Freezer section of the appliance;

    • place or use any electrical appliances inside the appliance unless recommended by the manufacturer;

    • use electrical devices (e.g. hairdryers, heaters, radiators, fans, etc. to melt ice), mechanical devices (sharp knives, ice-picks, etc. to scrape ice), a direct flame or by any other means to remove ice from the interior surfaces) when defrosting;

    • tamper with the refrigerant circuit in any way as this could damage the appliance or release the refrigerant gas into the immediate surroundings. This refrigerant gas (R600a – chemical name: isobutane) is currently the refrigerant gas of choice in domestic and small commercial refrigerators due to its low environmental impact and excellent thermodynamic performance. However, it is a hydrocarbon and is flammable;

    • move the appliance by the door handle.

  17. During operation, DO NOT touch the appliance with wet body parts, and it is recommended to have between you and the standing surface, an isolating element (for example, wearing shoes with rubber soles).

  18. DO NOT soak the appliance in water or other liquids, wash it under the tap, or let any liquid flow into the internal casing of the appliance to prevent electric shock. In case of flooding etc. where water has entered the appliance, switch the appliance off immediately.

  19. Switch off the appliance and unplug the power cable from the wall socket if it is NOT used for a long period, before storing, cleaning or performing any maintenance operation.
    (henceforth “switching the appliance off” is intended to include the steps above)

  20. Plug and unplug the power cable firmly holding it with dry hands. DO NOT pull it, tug it or use it to drag the appliance to which is connected. Make sure at least 5 minutes have elapsed before switching the appliance back on in order to protect the compressor and the refrigeration system. However, DO NOT switch the appliance on and off unnecessarily or frequently.

  21. In case of malfunction or anomaly during the functioning, switch the appliance off immediately, turn off the power and check the cause of the anomaly, if possible, with the support of a qualified person.

  22. If smoke is observed coming out of the appliance, switch the appliance off immediately.

  23. This appliance is NOT intended for commercial use but to be used in households and similar applications, such as:

    • Staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
    • Dormitories;
    • By clients in hotels, motels and other residential environments;
    • Bed and breakfast type environments.
  24. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall NOT play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall NOT be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised. Keep the appliance and its cable out of reach of children less than 8 years old.

  25. Save these instructions.

How to install

  1. Before and during installation, DO NOT subject this appliance to an inclination of greater than 45° to the horizontal, so as to prevent damage to the compressor and refrigeration system of the appliance.
  2. Clean the inside of the appliance with water & detergent with a non-abrasive sponge. Ensure that the appliance is completely dry before use and standing at an upright position for at least 1 hour before switching on the appliance. This will reduce the possibility of malfunction of the cooling system which may have been incurred during transportation.
  3. This appliance should be installed in an environment free from explosive & flammable substances, away from direct sunlight and sources of heat, on a horizontal, stable and heat-resistant surface.
  4. The appliance shall NOT be placed on a surface, or in the vicinity of, objects which can be damaged by heat such as wood, carpets or plastics. If the appliance is operated on wooden furniture, use a protective pad to prevent damage to delicate finishes.
  5. Place the appliance at a proper distance from objects or surrounding walls making sure that its functioning will not cause accidental damages. There should be at least 10 cm of free space from the back, left & right sides and at least 30 cm from the top of the door to allow adequate air circulation to cool the compressor. Never put things on top of the appliance.
  6. Before powering the appliance make sure the rating (voltage and frequency) corresponding to the grid and the socket is suitable for the plug of the appliance, the wall socket is properly grounded and the power cable is undamaged. DO NOT power the appliance using adapters and/or extension cables, external timers and/or other remote control appliances.
  7. Turn the Temperature Control Rotary Knob between 3~4. Plug the power cable into the wall socket and switch the appliance on. Check that the Indicator Light, Compressor and Ventilation Fan are all working smoothly. After half an hour, the temperature inside the appliance should already be cool, and gradually getting colder. Let the Compressor operate for a period of at least 2 – 3 hours before placing food & drinks into the appliance.
  8. If you need to switch the appliance off, make sure at least 5 minutes had elapsed before switching the appliance back on in order to protect the compressor and the refrigeration system.

How to use

  1. The numbers 1 – 5 on the Temperature Control Rotary Knob are the temperature grades, NOT degrees Celsius (°C) on the Temperature scale.
    ( note : the higher the number, the lower the thermostat and the colder the temperature. The default temperature is 3~4.).

  2. When food needs to be quickly chilled, turn the Temperature Control Rotary Knob to 5. When the food has frozen, turn back the Temperature Control Rotary Knob between 3~4. Increasing the temperature from a higher value (colder) to a lower one (hotter) should always be done in increments of 1 over several hours. DO NOT turn the Temperature Control Rotary Knob too hard so as to avoid any damage.

  3. DO NOT leave the door of the appliance open for long periods of time or open the door repeatedly within short periods of time to avoid significant increases in temperature leading to the spoilage of food. This action, if repeated often, can damage to the appliance and lead to the shortening of the lifespan of the appliance.

  4. DO NOT put oversized foods or large amounts of food into the appliance at the same time. Make sure that there is ample space around each package of food item in order to ensure adequate circulation of cold air. Warm food should be allowed to cool down to room temperature before placing them into the appliance

  5. If the appliance is to be left empty for a long period of time, switch it off, defrost, clean, dry and leave the door open to prevent mould from developing.
    Freezer Compartment

  6. Place fresh and clean raw food, wrapped in airtight boxes or aluminium foil, as quickly as possible to prevent degradation of food as much as possible and to preserve the freshness, taste and nutrients in the food. It is advisable to place each food item in a separate bag or container to avoid mixing of fluids prior to freezing.

  7. DO NOT:

    • allow frozen food present in the freezer compartment to have direct contact with food to be frozen;
    • place fresh fruits and vegetables into the freezer compartment;
    • store containers made of glass or canned items in the Freezer section of the appliance as they may break or explode upon freezing;
    • store medicine or medical products in the Freezer section of the appliance.
      Refrigerator Compartment
  8. In addition to emitting various smells, cooked food especially meat, fish & other seafood, or pickled dishes, etc. may dry out when being placed in the refrigerator compartment. As such, cooked food should be covered and sealed with clingfilm, wrapped in aluminium foil, or stored in airtight containers.

  9. Store raw meat and fish in suitable containers at the bottom of the refrigerator compartment BELOW cooked food so that it is NOT in contact with or allowed to drip onto other food.

How to clean

  1. Turn the Temperature Control Rotary Knob to “OFF”, switch off the appliance and unplug the power cable from the wall socket before cleaning or conducting maintenance. Open the doors of the appliance.
  2. Wait until the interior of the appliance has completely warmed up, and the compressor cooled down, before cleaning or performing any maintenance operation.
  3. If the interior of the appliance is covered with a layer of frost, defrosting needs to be carried out. Not performing this action may lead to an increase in electricity consumption and a lessening of the effects of refrigeration.
  4. DO NOT use electrical devices (e.g. hairdryers, heaters, radiators, fans, etc. to melt ice), mechanical devices (sharp knives, ice-picks, etc. to scrape ice), a direct flame or by any other means to remove ice from the interior surfaces) when defrosting.
  5. After defrosting, clean the interior of the appliance with a soft, damp cloth. If necessary, you can use a cloth moistened with mild liquid detergent. DO NOT use abrasive scouring pads or powders.
  6. Wipe the exterior of the appliance using a soft, damp cloth or sponge. Remove stubborn spots with a cloth moistened with mild liquid detergent. DO NOT use abrasive scouring pads or powders.
  7. DO NOT soak the appliance in water or other liquids, wash it under the tap, or let any liquid flow into the internal casing of the appliance to prevent electric shock
  8. After cleaning, dry every surface using a soft cloth before restarting the appliance.
  9. Remove dust and grime from the Condenser to keep it in good working order.
  10. Rubbing some talcum powder on the gasket of the Freezer Door may help prolong its life.

Problem Solving







The appliance does not work

The plug of the appliance is not inserted into the power socket.

Insert the plug into the grounded power socket and switch it on.

The circuit breaker tripped or the fuse is blown.

Check the household circuit breaker for any tripped wires. Call for a qualified electrician.


The Temperature Control Rotary Knob was set at too high a temperature.

Set the Temperature Control Rotary Knob to between 3~4.








The appliance is not cold enough

Check to see whether the Temperature Control Rotary Knob is set to 4.

External environment may require a colder temperature setting above 4, e.g. 5.

The Freezer’s Door or Refrigerator’s Door (or both) was not closed properly or was opened too often.

The Freezer’s Door gasket or Refrigerator’s Door gasket (or both) does not seal properly. Send to the authorised repair centre.

The appliance was not placed with clearances around it at 10 cm. There should be at least 10 cm of free space from the back, left & right sides and at least 30 cm from the top of the door to allow adequate air circulation to cool the compressor.






The Compressor turns on & off frequently

External environment is at a hotter temperature than normal. A large amount of food has been added into the appliance.

The Freezer’s Door or Refrigerator’s Door (or both) was not closed properly or was opened too often.

The Freezer’s Door gasket or Refrigerator’s Door gasket (or both) does not seal properly. Send to the authorised repair centre.

The appliance makes a lot of loud noises

The rattling and gurgling sounds may have come from the flow of refrigerant inside the appliance. This is normal.

Contraction of the interior walls may result in ‘popping’ or ‘crackling’ noises.

The appliance may not be level. Check whether the appliance is placed on a horizontal and stable surface.



The Freezer’s Door or Refrigerator’s Door will not close properly

The appliance may not be level. Check whether the appliance is placed on a horizontal and stable surface.

The Freezer’s Door gasket or Refrigerator’s Door gasket (or both) is dirty or worn out. Clean the Freezer’s Door gasket or Refrigerator’s Door gasket (or both) or replace Freezer’s Door gasket or Refrigerator’s Door gasket (or both) at the authorised repair centre.





The Light Bulb fails

Switch off the appliance and unplug the power cable holding it firmly with dry hands. Ensure that the light bulb is screwed securely in the bulb holder. Plug the power cable and switch the appliance on (make sure at least 5 minutes had elapsed before switching the appliance back on in order to protect the compressor and the refrigeration system).

If the bulb still fails, replace it with an ‘E14 screw-cap type 15 Watt’ bulb.

ENVIRONMENTAL TIP

This appliance, along with all other electronic appliances, should, when it is no longer capable of functioning, be disposed with the least possible environmental damage according to the local regulations in your area. In most cases you can discard the appliance at your local recycling centre.
DISPOSAL : Do not dispose this appliance as unsorted municipal waste. Collection of such waste separately for special treatment is necessary.

Risk of child or animal entrapment
Before you discard this appliance, please remove all doors and leave the shelves inside so that children or animals may not easily get trapped inside.

WARRANTY

Warranty Conditions

  1. This warranty provides against defective materials and manufacturing faults throughout for two years from the date of purchase of the appliance. The warranty on the Compressor is 10 years subject to the same conditions as above.
  2. This warranty also does not cover normal wear and tear, replacement of consumable materials and accessories, and the cost of maintenance of the appliance.
  3. This warranty does not cover the repair or replacement of part/s damaged by misuse, accidents, negligence, alterations, or modifications in any way, or repairs done by any repair organisation without the prior consent of PowerPac Electrical Pte Ltd.
  4. Repair and service are to be performed at: 5 Changi South Lane #03-01 Singapore 486045. A transport fee will be charged for personal doorstep service.
  5. The original purchaser of the appliance must furnish proof of purchase to our Service Centre with the email or number as registered during submission of warranty when this appliance is sent for repair/service. Failure to do so may delay the receipt of said repair/service by the customer.
  6. Under no circumstances whatsoever shall the serial number be erased, defaced or altered by the customer and/or his representatives, or the dealer and/or his agents. Failure to ensure this shall invalidate the warranty.
  7. This warranty is deemed to be void if the defect is cause by the attack of household pests, fire, lightning, natural disasters, pollution, abnormal voltage or the usage of generators.
  8. This warranty is valid in Singapore only.
  9. This warranty will be honoured subject to the customer’s registration of the warranty inclusive of original invoice or valid purchase receipt. Failure to present these documents will result in denial of service. However, if the customer still requests that the defective appliance be repaired, PowerPac Electrical Pte Ltd may, at its discretion, repair the appliance but impose a labour charge, as well as the costs of the replacement parts, to be borne solely by the customer.
  10. Please refer to the attached picture for the location of one of our appliance’s serial number, as an example.

Please complete the on-line registration warranty form available on our website. There is no further requirement to send us any hard copy as part of our efforts to save the environment. In accordance with the terms and conditions of this limited warranty as stated above, PowerPac Electrical Pte Ltd, at its expense shall provide free services for the appliance within the warranty period from its date of purchase from our Authorised dealers.
