Important Safety Instructions
This chapter contains important safety instructions that must be read
carefully before starting to disassemble the unit.
Symbols and Warnings
The following symbols are used in this manual:
- DANGER: This symbol, when used with the signal word “DANGER,” indicates an imminent electrical hazard. Failure to observe the related safety note may cause injury, death, or equipment damage.
- WARNING: This symbol, when used with the signal word “WARNING,” indicates a potentially dangerous situation. Failure to observe may cause injury, death, or equipment damage.
- DO NOT DISPOSE OF WITH ORDINARY TRASH: This symbol indicates that the product should not be disposed of with ordinary trash.
Safety Rules
DANGER – RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK:
Before disassembling the unit, ensure that the UPS is completely switched off
and internal capacitors have been discharged. Wait at least 5 minutes after
shutting down the unit.
DANGER – THE UNIT MAY CONTAIN BATTERIES:
A battery can present a risk of electrical shock and high short circuit
current. Take the following precautions when disassembling a unit that
contains batteries:
- Remove watches, rings, or other metal objects.
- Use tools with insulated handles.
- Wear rubber gloves and boots.
- Do not lay tools or metal parts on top of batteries.
- Disconnect the charging source prior to connecting or disconnecting battery terminals.
- Establish if the battery is inadvertently grounded. If grounded, remove the source from the ground. Contact with any part of a grounded battery can result in electrical shock. The likelihood of such shock can be reduced if such grounds are removed during installation and maintenance (applicable to equipment and remote battery supplies not having grounded supply circuit).

Symbols and warnings
The following symbols are used in this manual, the list below explains each
symbol.
-
THIS SYMBOL IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE SIGNAL WORD “DANGER” INDICATES AN IMMINENT ELECTRICAL HAZARD.
FAILURE TO OBSERVE THE RELATED SAFETY NOTE MAY CAUSE INJURY, DEATH OR EQUIPMENT DAMAGE. -
THIS SYMBOL IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE SIGNAL WORD “WARNING” INDICATES A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
FAILURE TO OBSERVE MAY CAUSE INJURY, DEATH OR EQUIPMENT DAMAGE. -
DO NOT DISPOSE OF WITH ORDINARY TRASH.
Safety rules
- DANGER
- RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK:
- BEFORE DISASSEMBLING THE UNIT, MAKE SURE THE UPS IS COMPLETELY SWITCHED OFF AND INTERNAL CAPACITORS HAVE BEEN DISCHARGED BY WAITING AT LEAST 5 MINUTES AFTER SHUTDOWN THE UNIT.
DANGER
- THE UNIT MAY CONTAIN BATTERIES. A BATTERY CAN PRESENT A RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK AND HIGH SHORT CIRCUIT CURRENT. THE FOLLOWING PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE OBSERVED WHEN DISASSEMBLING A UNIT THAT CONTAINS BATTERIES:
- REMOVE WATCHES, RINGS OR OTHER METAL OBJECTS.
- USE TOOLS WITH INSULATED HANDLES.
- WEAR RUBBER GLOVES AND BOOTS.
- DO NOT LAY TOOLS OR METAL PARTS ON TOP OF BATTERIES.
- DISCONNECT THE CHARGING SOURCE PRIOR TO CONNECTING OR DISCONNECTING OF BATTERY TERMINALS.
- ESTABLISH IF THE BATTERY IS INADVERTENTLY GROUNDED. IF INADVERTENTLY GROUNDED, REMOVE SOURCE FROM GROUND. CONTACT WITH ANY PART OF A GROUNDED BATTERY CAN RESULT IN ELECTRICAL SHOCK. THE LIKELIHOOD OF SUCH SHOCK CAN BE REDUCED IF SUCH GROUNDS ARE REMOVED DURING INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE (APPLICABLE TO EQUIPMENT AND REMOTE BATTERY SUPPLIES NOT HAVING GROUNDED SUPPLY CIRCUIT. A BATTERY CAN PRESENT A RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK AND HIGH SHORT CIRCUIT CURRENT.
- KEEP OUT OF BATTERY POLES WHICH CONTAIN DANGEROUS DC-VOLTAGES CAUSING FATAL ACCIDENTS.
- INAPPROPRIATE MANIPULATIONS OF THE BATTERIES CAN CAUSE LIGHTNING SPARKS.
