RECOMMENDATIONS PRIOR TO ASSEMBLY

Safety instructions

aldes-L225-Smoke-And-Heat-Exhaust-System-FIG- \(14\)

RECOMMANDATIONS

ATTENTION: check the direction of rotation of the turbine If it is rotating in the wrong direction (3-phase power supply), inverse the two power phases on the motor terminal unit to ensure it rotates in the correct direction.

Precautions

IMPORTANT: disconnect the power before servicing a fan unit (using the proximity switch) and ensure that it cannot be turned on accidentally during the intervention. Do not perform any servicing until the fan is fully stopped. All work on electrical equipment must be done by qualified personnel.

  • The electrical connection must be made according to industry best practices and in accordance with standards NF C 15-100 and NF S 61.932 “Installation rules.” The power cable must be dimensioned according to principle 471-1-2 of standard NF C 15-100: “the cross-section of channel conductors is determined by an admissible current equal to 1.5 times the rated motor current.”
  • The “FITTED SWITCH» and «ALL-IN-ONE» options enable customers to receive the CYCLONE F400 smoke and heat exhaust unit ready for use. Simply connect the power supply cable(s) from the LV distribution panel to the switch or the safety box.

IMPORTANT: remember to connect the Earth connection to the circuit bar at the location indicated by the symbol .

Pulley alignment
If you need to adjust a variable pulley, change a pulley or change a motor, check that the pulleys are correctly aligned and that the belt tension is correct before starting the unit.

ASSEMBLY

Horizontal installation

We recommend that you use anti-vibration mountings.

  • We strongly recommend that you connect the unit to the air ducts using flexible sleeves to avoid the transmission of vibrations.
  • Leave a gap (L) of at least 700 mm on the transmission side for technical work.
  • Avoid blocking the vents on either side of the unit.

ACTIVATION

Adjusting the ProtectONE® Adapt airflow adjustment damper

Remove the screw. Lower the arm to reduce the airflow.

Airflow adjusting with the variable pulley

aldes-L225-Smoke-And-Heat-Exhaust-System-FIG- \(24\)

The pulley is delivered at the maximum diameter. Unscrew the hexagonnal screws on each flanges. Spread the flanges (by 1/4 turn rotation). Screw in the hexagonnal screws, apply a threadlock to ensure proper tightening of the screws.

  • Release the lock nut
  • Belt tension

aldes-L225-Smoke-And-Heat-Exhaust-System-FIG- \(25\)

  • Using a 19 wrench (under the proposed ProtectONE® F400 model) move the motor along his rail.
  • The length of the belt between the 2 orange lines must be equal at the value indicated on the belt.

Tests and trials

Symptom 1 Symptom 2 Verifications Action
The fan unit will not start   – Check all wiring

– Check the motor: 400V AC direct supply

| Replace the faulty part
The fan unit starts and then stops|  | – Check all wiring.|

The fan unit does not work at the specified operating set point

|

Too weak

| – Check that the impeller is not rubbing against the casing

– Check that the ProtectONE® adapter is not set to a minimum

– Check the motor: 400V AC direct supply

|

Replace the faulty part

Too strong

| – Actuate the damper (if ProtectONE® Adapt option included).

– Change the impeller gear (if variable pulley)

The fan rotates in the wrong direction|  |

– Check the wiring in the motor terminal unit

| Swap 2 phases on the power supply cable

MAINTENANCE

IMPORTANT: Maintenance must be carried out by qualified personnel. After commissioning the ProtectONE® F400, it is important to regularly check that it is operating correctly.
Since April 1997, Appendix A of the new standard NF 61.933 requires that smoke and heat exhaust fans be checked via their safety boxes every three months.
The motors installed do not require any specific maintenance. They are equipped with sealed bearings that are lubricated for their whole service life.
