PAIRING
The Stealth 700 for PS4 and PS4 Pro Headset and Transmitter come paired out of the box. When paired, with both the Headset and Transmitter powered on, the Transmitter’s LED will be on solid (lit, but not blinking). However, if your Transmitter’s LED is pulsing, follow the steps below to pair your Headset and Transmitter.
1, Start this process with the Headset powered OFF. Press and hold the Pairing Button on the Transmitter until the Transmitter’s Pairing LED flashes rapidly (this may take 10-15 seconds), then release. (Use a Paperclip or something similar to press the Pinhole button).
2. Press and hold the Power Button on the Headset until the Headset’s Power LED flashes rapidly (5 seconds), then release.
3. Within 10 seconds, the Transmitter’s and Headset’s LED will remain on solid, indicating that pairing has been successful.
For more information, please click here.
Mic Usage/Mic Issues
The Stealth 700 for PS4/PS4 Pro has an adjustable mic. To use the mic, gently push (‘flip’) the mic forwards. You will hear a tone (low high) when the mic itself is unmuted. When the mic is fully pushed forwards, the mic will “Lock” into position. To mute the mic, just flip the mic back the other way. You will hear a tone (high low) when the mic is muted.
1. Check that the Headset And Transmitter Are Paired/Mic Monitor is Functioning
The Headset and Transmitter need to be paired to each other in order for the mic to work. Make sure that the Headset and Transmitter have been successfully paired. To do so:
- Make sure the headset is powered OFF. Press and Hold the Pairing Button on the Transmitter until the Transmitter’s Pairing LED flashes rapidly, then release. (Use a Paperclip or something similar to press the pinhole button.)
- Press and Hold the Power Button on the Headset until the Headset’s Power LED flashes rapidly (5 seconds), then release.
- Within 10 seconds, the Headset and Transmitter’s LED will remain solid, indicating that pairing was successful.
- As an extra test, raise the mic monitor volume level with the lower dial on the headset. Then, flip the mic forward, and speak into the mic. Can you hear yourself through the headset when you speak into the mic?
Please Note: The Stealth 700 for PS4/PS4 Pro headset has both a Mic Monitor feature and an Active Noise Cancelling feature. If the ANC is activated, the Mic Monitor will be disabled. To make sure the ANC is not activated, quick-press the Power button. You should hear a tone (low high) when the ANC is deactivated. You should then hear yourself through the headset. If you hear a (high low) tone, the ANC has been activated, and a quick press of the Power button should deactivate it again.
If you can hear yourself through the headset when you speak into the mic, the mic itself is working well.
If you cannot hear your voice clearly, please contact our Support Team .
2. The PS4/PS4 Pro Chat Settings are Configured
If you are able to hear yourself through the headset when you speak into the mic, then the mic itself is working properly, but the settings on your console may not be configured for headset use.
- PS4: Go to Settings > Devices > Audio Devices and select USB Headset (Stealth 700). Go back one screen to “ Adjust Microphone Level ” and follow the on-screen calibration instructions. If the bar moves when you speak into the mic, you have verified that the mic is working properly.
If the microphone still isn’t working, please contact our Support Team .
3. Bluetooth Test Call
*For this test, you will need a Bluetooth-compatible smartphone.
- Hold down the headset’s Bluetooth button until you hear the “Bluetooth Pairing” voice prompt.
- Connect to your headset in your phone’s Bluetooth Settings.
- Make a test call on the phone. Be sure to keep the phone covered and away from you, to make sure that the headset’s mic is the mic picking up the sound, and not the internal microphones in the smartphone itself.
- During that test call, could you be heard clearly when you spoke into the mic?
If you can be heard clearly during that test call, the mic itself is working well.
If you cannot be heard clearly during that test call, please contact our Support Team.
4. Power Cycle Headset.
- Unplug the USB Transmitter from the console.
- Press and Hold the Power Button on the Headset until you hear the “Powering Off” voice prompt.
- Let everything sit for a few seconds.
- Press and Hold the Power Button on the Headset, until you hear the “Powering On” voice prompt.
- Plug the USB Transmitter back into the console.
If the Power Cycle does not resolve this issue, please contact our Support Team .
Voice Chat Issues With Nintendo Switch
If you are experiencing the following symptoms when you use your headset with Fortnite on a Nintendo Switch, please try the steps below:
- Mic Not Working in Chat (you can’t be heard in chat)
- Chat Audio Not Working (you cannot hear other people in chat)
You may need to re-enable the in-game chat. In addition, you may need to disable the Push-to-Talk feature.
To do so:
1. Make sure you are logged in to your profile. Once you are logged in, press the + button on the switch to bring up the Social menu. Scroll down to and then select the gear icon on the bottom of the left sidebar.
2. The sidebar will change in appearance from your friends list to a list of several different options. Select the “Settings” option, as shown below.
3. You will see several tabs on the top of the screen. Scroll to the Speaker tab – this is the Audio Settings tab. Then, scroll down to section labelled “Voice Chat”.
There will be two toggle settings: Voice Chat and Voice Chat Method.
- Voice Chat is ON by default. To be able to hear and be heard in chat, this setting needs to be ON. If this setting is turned off, you will not be able to hear the chat audio, and you will not be able to be heard in chat.
- Voice Chat Method is set to PUSH-TO-TALK by default. To be able to be heard in chat whenever you speak, this setting needs to be OPEN MIC. If this setting is set to PUSH-TO-TALK, you will not be heard in chat unless you press a specific button when you speak into the mic.
Make sure that the Voice Chat is On and the Voice Chat Method is set to Open Mic , and then test the headset again. You should be able to hear and be heard in the chat.
If you have re-enabled game chat, but you are still having issues with hearing or being heard in chat, please contact our support team for further assistance.
Turtle Beach Audio Hub – Update Firmware and Customize Controls
It is important to always run the most up-to-date firmware in order to enjoy the best audio experience.
The Turtle Beach Audio Hub will automatically check for the newest firmware, and install the newest version if one is available.
The Turtle Beach Audio Hub is available for Windows and Mac.
- Connect your Stealth 700 for PlayStation 4 to your PC/Mac using the included USB Cable.
- Connect your Stealth 700 Wireless Transmitter to a free USB Port on your PC/Mac.
- Open the Turtle Beach Audio Hub app.
At this point if your headset requires a new update you will be prompted to begin this process.
**Note: This process may take a couple minutes. Do not disconnect your headset until the process is complete. **
Now you are able to adjust some of your Stealth 700 for PlayStation 4 settings.
Mic Monitor – This setting controls how loud you hear yourself through the headset when you speak into the mic. This helps to avoid inadvertently yelling at other people/players.
Tones – This setting controls how loud the indication tones you hear in your headset play. These are tones that play when toggling your EQ Presets, Superhuman Hearing, and when Powering On/Off. If this is set to the minimum you will not hear any indication tones.
Voice Prompts – This setting controls how loud the voice prompts that you hear in your headset play. These prompts play when powering on the headset and using Bluetooth functions.
Noise Gate – This makes it easier to ensure your voice is coming through the mic, instead of background noise.
Audio Preset – Select a EQ Preset to enhance your listening experience.
- Signature Sound – Turtle Beach tuned Natural Sound; hear your media just as the creators intended.
- Bass Boost – Turn up the Bass; feel the deep sound effects in your games and the punch of bass-heavy music tracks.

- Movie Mode – Get the best seat in the house and experience your movies like never before.
- Music Mode – Bring your music onto a personal stage for your own private concert experience.
- DTS Headphone:X Off (Stereo Mode) – Down-mix all your Surround Channels into standard stereo playback.

Limited PC Compatibility
The Stealth 700 for PlayStation 4 was designed for PlayStation 4 consoles only. We are unable to guarantee universal PC/Mac compatibility for the Stealth 700 for PS4/PS4 Pro.
For most PC and Mac computers, you’ll want to use the Basic Setup using a single USB connection.
For those PC and Mac computers equipped with an S/PDIF Optical Digital Audio Output, we have an Advanced Setup using an Optical connection in addition to the USB connection. For more information, see “Advanced Setup – USB & Digital Optical Connection” below.
BASIC SETUP – USB CONNECTION ONLY
Requirements:
- Windows or Mac PC with:
- 1 empty USB 2.0 port
Basic PC Setup & Windows Settings:
-
Connect the transmitter to a USB port on your PC.
-
For Mac: Open System Preferences >> Sound >> Input. Set the Stealth 700 for PS4 as the Default Device. Then, in the Output tab, set the Stealth 700 as the Default Device. For Windows 10: Right-click the Speaker Icon in the Taskbar, and select “Open Sound Settings”. Select your Stealth 700 headset as the default Input and Output device. For Windows 7: Go to Control Panel >> Hardware and Sound >> Sound (or right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar), go to the Playback tab.
-
Right-click “ Speakers – Turtle Beach Stealth 700 ” and select “ Set as Default Device “.
-
Click on the Recording Tab and select “ Microphone – Stealth 700 ” as the Default Device.
-
Once the Default Devices have been selected, click ‘ OK ‘.
Your PC Sound Settings are now configured for Game Audio and Microphone use.
- In the Basic PC and Mac setup, the included Digital Optical Cable is NOT used. When this cable is not used the volume controls on the headset will control Master Volume & Mic Monitor Levels only.
- Please note that the chat volume settings will need to be configured within the chat software, as this Stealth 700 ‘basic’ setup does not provide separate adjustment of Chat and Game audio levels.
ADVANCED SETUP – USB & DIGITAL OPTICAL CONNECTION
If your PC or Mac has an Optical Digital Audio Output, you may choose to connect that to the Digital In on the Stealth 700 for PlayStation 4 transmitter via a Digital Optical Cable. This will allow you to independently control Game and Chat volume using the headset’s Volume Control dials.
For this type of setup, the PC or Mac’s Digital Out should be set as the Default Playback Device, while the USB connection should be set as the Default Communications Device.
- In Windows , the optical connection will be identified as Digital Out (Optical).
- In Mac OS X , use the Audio MIDI Setup utility to set up the Optical Output.
- Set the system’s Optical Digital Audio Connection as the Default Playback Device. (See the screenshots below for an example.)
- Set the Stealth 700 for PS4 USB Audio as the Default Communications Device.
Please note that an Optical Digital Audio Output (Toslink S/PDIF) is required for this type of Advanced Setup.
If, while using the Advanced Setup described here, you are having issues with clicks, pops, or stuttering audio from the game (Optical) audio connection, the Optical audio settings may not be configured correctly.
To check that the audio is configured properly, please try the following:
-
Right-click the Speaker Icon in the Taskbar , and select “ Playback Devices ”.
-
Right-Click on the “ Digital Output ” option for your installed Sound interface, and then select “ Properties ”. (In the example screenshot, this is “ Realtek Digital Output ”.)
-
In the Properties Window , click on the “ Advanced ” tab.
-
If the sample rate is set to 16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality), then you are likely to hear clicks and stuttering in the headset. Set the sample rate to 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality).
With the Sampling rate set to 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality) , you should not have any issues with clicks, pops, or stuttering audio.
The Stealth 700 for PS4 USB Audio device is set by default to 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality) format, which cannot be adjusted.
Headset Recovery (Headset Won’t Turn On/Not Detected By Audio Hub)
If your headset is experiencing any of the following symptoms, please try the instructions below:
- Headset will not power on
- When charging, the LED does not display correctly
- Audio Hub does not detect the headset
These instructions will force your headset to update with the Turtle Beach Audio Hub to ensure that you are running the latest firmware.
If you have not already done so, download the Turtle Beach Audio Hub (for Windows or MacOS)
- Start this process with the Headset powered OFF.
- Open the Turtle Beach Audio Hub (for Windows or MacOS).
- Connect the Transmitter to a free USB port on the computer.
- Connect the USB Charge Cable to the Headset’s USB Charge/Update port.
- (With the Headset powered OFF) Hold down the Superhuman Hearing™ button while connecting the USB Cable into your computer.
- The Audio Hub will prompt you to update the headset.
- If the Audio Hub does not prompt you to update, please try steps 1-5 again.
- This update process will take ~5 minutes to complete, during this process do not move the headset or jostle the USB Connection.
After completing this update process, plug your Transmitter back into the PlayStation 4, and try powering on your headset. If your headset has powered on, but the LEDs on the Headset and Transmitter are blinking follow the pairing instructions available here.
If you are unable to complete this process, or this process otherwise does not resolve this issue, please contact our support team.
Nintendo Switch Setup
Please follow the instructions below to get your Stealth 700 for PS4/PS4 Pro headset set up for use with a Nintendo Switch console.
- Power the headset on, and plug the USB transmitter into the console, while the console is docked.
- Make sure the headset and transmitter are paired. The LEDs on the transmitter and the headset should be lit solid. If the LED on the transmitter is blinking, you’ll need to pair the headset and transmitter again.
- You should see the volume bar and the word “USB” appear on the screen, to confirm the transmitter has been connected.
Once you see those icons, you should be able to hear the game/chat audio. You may still need to configure the settings for the specific game you’re using the headset with.
Please Note: These settings will vary from game to game. In addition, there are a limited number of games that support in-chat capability.
You can find the instructions for configuring the settings for Fortnite below:
You can configure the Volume sliders to your liking.
Make sure that the Voice Chat is On and the Voice Chat Method is set to Open Mic. You should be able to hear and be heard in the chat.
Balancing Game & Chat Audio (PS4 Slim)
If you’re using a Stealth 700 for PS4/PS4 Pro on a PS4 Slim using just the USB Connection (no Optical Connection) , you can adjust the party chat volume level in the PS4 menu settings.
Party Chat:
-
Press and hold the PS Button to bring up the Quick Menu. Then, navigate to Party. (You can customize the setup of this sidebar, so depending on the setup that you’re using, the location of the Party tab may vary.)
-
Select Audio Adjust Mix. This will decrease/increase Party Chat volume. This cannot be used to completely mute Game or Chat audio; however, it will adjust the Party/Non-Party audio balance to a degree.
Game Chat
Certain games have controls for their channel; others do not. For example, Overwatch allows for control of the Chat volume within its menus.
PS4 Feature Set (Original, Slim, Pro)
The PS4 Slim console released in September 2016 does not include the Digital Optical Output that was present on the original PS4 (2013). This change was only implemented in the slimmer PS4 that’s replacing the original PS4. The 4K-capable PS4 Pro Console still has a Digital Optical Output.
The absence of the Digital Optical Output on the new slimmer PS4 console means that for the Stealth 700 for PS4/PS4 Pro, you will NOT need to use the included Digital Optical Cable (as you would for the PS4 or PS4 Pro consoles).

When the Optical cable isn’t plugged in (PS4 Slim):
- Game Volume Control becomes the Master Volume Control (adjusts both game and chat volume).
- Chat Volume Control becomes a variable Mic Monitor Volume Control (adjusts the volume you can hear your own voice).
PS4 Slim Alternative Setup:
If your television or receiver has an Optical Digital (S/PDIF) Output and supports Dolby Digital, you can connect the optical cable from the transmitter to your TV/Receiver for game audio. An optical output is often labeled ‘S/PDIF’, ‘Digital Out’, or ‘Optical’. You may need to go into your TV’s Sound Settings to enable the optical output and/or select ‘Dolby Digital’ if such an option is available.
How To Tell if Your TV Has an Optical Output:
First, we recommend consulting the TV/receiver manual for a list of features and settings configurations.
Optical outputs are illuminated by a red light and typically covered by a rubber ‘flap’. The image below shows an uncovered optical output.
If your TV is placed farther away from the PS4, you may need a longer mini Toslink optical cable. More information here.
PS4 Console (2013 vs 2016)
The following images show the ports on both versions of the PS4:
Back of PS4 Pro
TVs With Optical Out
**PLEASE NOTE: Not all TVs have Digital Optical Outputs. The following information applies only to TVs/potential setups that meet the requirements mentioned in the article. We are unable to guarantee universal TV/PS4 Slim compatibility using the following info, as every TV has a slightly different setup/specifications that may affect this. **
The PS4 Slim console released in September 2016 does not include the Digital Optical Output that was present on the original PS4 (2013). The PS4 Slim console is similar to the previous Original PS4 console, but the absence of the Digital Optical Output will mean that some headsets will perform differently. The USB-only connection to ???a PS4 ‘slim’ will not provide independent controls for Chat and Game audio levels. However, if your TV has an optical digital audio output, you can use that for the Game sound feed. Doing so will give you the benefits of independent Chat and Game audio level controls plus Dolby Digital surround decoding.?
The optical cable that comes with your Stealth 700 for PS4 is usually too short to reach from the front of your PS4 Slim to the back of your TV.
Using that bundle with your PS4 Slim and your TV’s optical digital output, you’ll get the full benefit of all the features your Stealth 700 for PS4 has to offer, plus be able to use your headset and its DTS Headphone:X surround processing for cable or satellite TV, DVD or Bluray movie discs, streaming video services from your media server, PC/Mac, iOS or Android portable device, or whatever program material your TV is capable of playing.
If your television has an optical output on its rear panel, and you want to use that to connect to your TB transmitter’s DIGITAL IN, you may need to go into your TV’s settings to enable the optical output and set it to transmit Bitstream or Dolby Digital audio (instead of stereo Linear PCM).
Using the Stealth 700 for PS4 with the HD Audio Converter:
If your TV does not have an optical digital audio output available, you can add one to your setup using the HD Audio Converter. Setting it up is straightforward.
- Connect the HDMI Out from your PS4 ‘slim’ to the HDMI IN on the HD Audio Converter.
- Connect the HDMI OUT from the HD Audio Converter to an HDMI Input on your TV.
- Connect the Optical Out on the HD Audio Converter to the DIGITAL IN on the Stealth 700 for PS4 transmitter.
- Set the MODE switch on the HD Audio Converter to GAME.
- Note that the HD Audio Converter is 1080p video compatible, but it cannot pass 4K, 3D or HDR video formats.
Mobile/VR Mode
The Stealth 700 for Ps4/PS4 Pro features a 3.5mm headset jack, which can be used with the Mobile Cable (Mobile Cable not included with headset, available here ). This connection is meant for use with Mobile Devices or VR systems.
__Connect your headset directly to your chosen device and the Wireless Connection to the Transmitter will shut down to conserve battery life. In this mode Bluetooth will still be available so that you are able to listen to music or take phone calls during your VR experience.
When in this mode the volume controls on the headset will now control your VR Audio Volume Level and Mic Monitor Level.
PS5 Compatibility And Setup
We anticipate our PS4 headsets will be compatible with the new PS5 console.
To set up your wireless headset for use with a PS5 console, please do the following.
1. Plug the transmitter for your headset into a free USB port on the console, and then power the headset on.
*Make sure that the headset and transmitter are fully paired (LEDs on both are solid). To pair the headset:
- Plug the transmitter into a free USB port on the console. Then, use a paperclip (or something similar) press and hold the transmitter’s Pairing button, until the LED on the transmitter starts to flash rapidly.
- Then, press and hold the Power button on the headset, until the LED on the headset also starts to flash rapidly.
- Within a few seconds, the LEDs on both headset and transmitter will turn solid, indicating the headset and transmitter have paired successfully.
2. Go to Settings >> Sound >> Audio Output >> Output Device
-
* * Select **Stealth 700** for **Output Device**
- Set Output to Headphones to All Audio
- Set Volume Control (headphones) level to Maximum
-
1.
3. Adjust your microphone levels by going to Settings >> Sound >> Microphone
Adjust Mic Level >> Microphone Level
*As desired, you can enable the 3D Audio function to enhance the audio through your headset. Then, go to Adjust 3D Audio Profile to select the best profile option for your game.
Please Note: The PS5 does not have a S/PDIF Optical Out. To use the Stealth 700 for PS4/PS4 Pro with all of its features on a PS5 console, an alternate setup is needed — similar to the one used with a PS4 Slim console.
Chat Volume Control Adjusts All Volume
The following applies to the Stealth 700 for PS4/PS4 Pro, when used with the original PS4/PS4 Pro consoles. (For more information about using this headset on a PS4 Slim console, please click here.)
If you find that the “bottom” (Chat) Volume Control on your Stealth 700 for PS4/PS4 Pro headset adjusts all volume (both Game and Chat audio), and that the “top” (Game) Volume Control doesn’t work, then the PS4 settings may not be configured correctly.
To ensure the proper setup, please check the following:
- Go to Settings >> Sound and Screen >> Audio Output Settings >> Primary Output Port >> Digital Out (Optical).
- Select Dolby Digital 5.1ch ONLY. (Do not select DTS 5.1ch.)
- Go to Settings >> Sound and Screen >> Audio Output Settings >> Audio Format (Priority).
- Select Bitstream (Dolby).
- Go to Settings >> Devices >> Audio Devices.
- Select USB Headset (Stealth 700 Chat) for Input & Output Devices.
- Set Volume Control (Headphones) to the maximum level.
- Set Output to Headphones to Chat Audio <——- IMPORTANT
You should now be able to hear Game audio through the headset, and adjust game volume independently with the headset’s Game Volume Control.
If the volume controls still aren’t working correctly, please contact our Support Team for more assistance.
Q. Why does game audio still play through my TV when the Stealth 700 for PS4/PS4 Pro is connected?
A. The PS4 allows audio output via Optical and HDMI simultaneously. It cannot be disabled, so you can mute your TV to prevent this from happening. Please note that this does not apply to audio via USB. If you select All’ for ‘Output to Headphones’, the PS4 will begin to send all audio via the USB port and audio will stop playing through your TV. However, this will cause the Chat Volume Control on the Stealth 700 for PS4/PS4 Pro headset to adjust all volume, so it is not recommended.
Mobile App Tutorial
The Stealth 700 for PlayStation 4 has a variety of features that can be controlled through the Android and iOS Audio Hub Apps available here.
After picking up the apps from your phone’s app store, you’ll want to Bluetooth pair your headset to your phone. This Bluetooth connection is separate from your wireless connection to your PS4 Transmitter. With a Bluetooth connection, you can take phone calls or listening to music while you’re gaming.

Headset Controls and Audio Features
The Stealth 700 for PlayStation 4 headset comes with multiple features. In this article, you’ll find some information about those features, as well as about the headset’s buttons and controls.
Mic Mute: The mic is adjustable; to mute the mic, flip it back. You will hear a tone (high low), and the mic will be muted. When the mic is muted, Mic Monitoring is disabled. To unmute the mic, flip the mic forwards. You will hear a tone (low high), and the mic will be ready to use. For more information about the mic, click here.
- Mic Monitoring: A feature that lets you hear yourself through the headset when you speak into the mic. This helps to keep you from yelling into your microphone at other players quite as much. This does not affect how other people hear you.
Superhuman Hearing™ Button: Use Superhuman Hearing™ Mode to pinpoint quiet audio cues, like enemy footsteps and weapon reloads.
Bluetooth Multi-Function Button: For use in pairing Bluetooth, as well as the various Bluetooth audio and phone controls, as shown in the chart below.
