HOCHIKI SDP-3 Duct Probe Housing

Product Information

The SDP-3 is a Duct Probe housing designed for air duct sampling using a standard photoelectric smoke detection device. It can accommodate either a conventional detector or an analogue sensor. The housing can be mounted on either square or round section ducting with the use of additional brackets. The one-tube air sampling system includes a test hole on the cover for easy installation and maintenance. It also features an installer-friendly connection of cables and comes supplied with 1 x 0.6m pipe. The SDP-3 accepts a range of Hochiki addressable or conventional smoke sensors/detectors (sold separately).

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Ensure the air duct is suitable for sampling and installation.
  2. If required, attach additional brackets to the duct probe housing to fit square or round section ducting.
  3. Connect the cables to the housing following the installer-friendly connection method.
  4. If necessary, use the supplied 0.6m pipe to draw air from the duct into the housing.
  5. For installations where condensation may occur, an optional cover (SDP-3 COVER) can be used.
  6. Ensure the chosen Hochiki addressable or conventional smoke sensor/detector is compatible with the SDP-3.
  7. Install the smoke sensor/detector onto the outside of the housing.
  8. Place the housing on the air duct, ensuring proper alignment and secure fixing using the provided bracket (SDP-3 BRACKET).
  9. Verify that the operating temperature range is within -20°C to +50°C and the storage temperature range is within -20°C to +70°C.
  10. Maintain a maximum humidity of 99% RH (non-condensing at 40°C).
  11. The housing is IP54 rated, providing protection against dust and water splashes.
  12. The weight of the housing is 640g, and its dimensions are L280mm x W150mm x H100mm.

Description

The SDP-3 is a Duct Probe housing allowing a standard photoelectric smoke detection device, either a conventional detector or an analogue sensor, to be mounted on the outside of an air duct for the purpose of monitoring the air within the duct. For installations where possible condensation could arise an optional cover is available (SDP-3 COVER) Using an aspirating technique, the air within the duct is drawn via a pipe into the duct probe’s housing. This allows constant sampling with a standard, LPCB approved smoke detector, which makes smoke detection within the duct simple, effective and easy to maintain.
