To prevent SERIOUS INJURY, DEATH, or PROPERTY DAMAGE

  • ALWAYS read and follow all warnings and instructions included with the purchase before beginning installation. Keep it for future reference.
  • DO NOT exceed the lower of towing manufacturing rating (including in your vehicle owner’s manual) or specific amperage ratings stated on the product.
  • ALWAYS read, understand, and follow all warnings and instructions printed on the tow vehicle’s battery.
  • ALWAYS wear safety glasses and use all safety precautions during installation.
  • Read and follow all warnings and cautions printed on the tow vehicle’s battery. All connections must be complete for the T-One® Connector to function properly.
  • Test and verify installation with a test light or trailer once installed. For the initial test, reset the vehicle’s electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.
  • DO NOT touch the negative battery terminal to the positive battery terminal. Serious Injury and damage to the Vehicle’s electrical system can occur.
  • If a vehicle is equipped with the Start/Stop option, DO NOT connect the module power wire to the support battery.
  • Only connect the module to the main vehicle battery. Failure to connect to the vehicle’s main battery may result in damage.
  • Overloading circuits can cause fires.
  • DO NOT exceed stated product ratings.
  • Ensure all existing ground connections are still attached. Torque Existing ground screw to manufacture Torque Specifications.

LIMITED 1-YEAR WARRANTY

Limited Warranty. Horizon Global (“We” or “Us”) warrants to the original consumer purchaser only (“You”) that the product will be free from material defects in both material and workmanship for a specific period*, ordinary wear and tear excepted; provided that installation and use of the product is in accordance with product instructions.

THERE ARE NO OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. If the product does not comply with this period-specific limited warranty*, Your sole and exclusive remedy is that We will replace the product without charge to You and within a reasonable time or, at our option, refund the purchase price. This warranty is not transferable. Limitations on the Warranty. This limited warranty does not cover: (a) normal wear and tear; (b) damage through abuse, neglect, misuse, or as a result of any accident or in any other manner; (c) damage from misapplication, overloading, or improper installation, including welds; (d) improper maintenance and repair; and (e) product alteration in any manner by anyone other than Us, with the sole exception of alterations made pursuant to product instructions and in a workmanlike manner.

Obligations of Purchaser. To make a warranty claim, contact Us, at our principal address of 47912 Halyard Dr. Suite 100, Plymouth, MI 48170, 1-800-632-3290, identify the product by model number, and follow the claim instructions that will be provided. Any returned product that is replaced or refunded by Us becomes our property. You will be responsible for return shipping costs. Please retain your purchase receipt to verify the date of purchase and that You are the original consumer purchaser. The product and the purchase receipt must be provided to Us in order to process Your warranty claim. Remedy Limits. Repair or replacement is Your sole remedy under this limited warranty or any other warranty related to the product. We shall not be liable for service or labor charges incurred in removing or replacing a product or any incidental or consequential damages of any kind.

Assumption of Risk. You acknowledge and agree that any use of the product for any purpose other than the specified use(s) stated in the product instructions is at Your own risk. Governing Law. This limited warranty gives You specific legal rights, and You also may have other rights that vary from state to state. This limited warranty is governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to rules pertaining to conflicts of law. The state courts located in Wayne County; Michigan shall have exclusive jurisdiction for any disputes relating to this warranty.

Installation Instructions

  1. Open the rear hatch. On the driver’s side, using a trim panel tool, Phillips screwdriver, or 10mm socket remove the plastic threshold cover, cargo trays, and the side panel exposing the vehicle’s taillight wiring harness.   2. Locate the taillight wiring connector on the driver’s side. Disconnect the vehicle wiring harness. Locate the connectors matching the end of the T-One® Connector. Insert the T-One® Connector end containing the brown and red wires in between the vehicle and taillight connector. All connector surfaces should be clean and free of dirt.

  3. Locate the grommet underneath the exposed area. Route the T-One® Connector ends containing the yellow and green wires through the grommet. Carefully slit the grommet so that both wires and the T-One® Connector ends go through it to the other side of the vehicle’s body. If routing the wire through a grommet and along the exterior of the vehicle, be careful to avoid any hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank or any other points that may pinch or break the wire.

  4. Beginning on the driver’s side and underneath the vehicle, route the harness containing the yellow wire through the opening between the vehicle bumper and body to the driver’s side taillight located in the bumper.

  5. Locate the connector matching the end of the T-One® Connector. Insert the T-One® Connector end containing the yellow wire in between the vehicle and taillight connectors. All connector surfaces should be clean and free of dirt.

  6. Underneath the vehicle on the passenger’s side. Locate the black environmental cover. Using a trim panel tool, remove the 3 plastic clips, being careful to not damage them. Using a 10mm socket remove the plastic nut and set the cover aside

  7. Route harness containing the green wire to the passenger side. Route down and underneath the vehicle, up through the opening between the vehicle bumper and body to the passenger’s side taillight located in the bumper. If routing the wire through a grommet and along the exterior of the vehicle, be careful to avoid any hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tank or any other points that may pinch or break the wire.TEKONSHA-118883T-One-T-Connector-Harness-FIG- \(8\)

  8. The passenger’s side taillight is located in the bumper. Locate the connector matching the end of the T-One® Connector. Insert the TOne ® Connector end containing the green wire in between the vehicle and taillight connectors. All connector surfaces should be clean and free of dirt.

  9. From the inside of the cargo area on the driver’s side of the vehicle behind the partially removed trim panel close to the grommet, determine a suitable mounting point behind the rear bumper fascia on the driver’s side. Mount the T-One® Connector black box using the Double-sided tape provided.
    Note: Clean flat mount surface area using a 50-50 mixture of rubbing alcohol and water to mount the lighting module black box.

  10. Locate a suitable grounding point near the black box such as an existing ground stud or drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the eyelet and screw provided. (Do not drill into vehicle
    floor or bed.) Clean dirt and rustproofing from the area. Verify what is behind any surface prior to drilling to avoid damage to the vehicle and/or personal injury. Do not drill into any exposed
    surfaces.

  11. Disconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable. If not removed, remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder (provided).

  12. After cutting the fuse holder wire, attach the ring terminal and secure it to the vehicle’s Positive (+) battery cable. Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12 ga. wire, using the yellow Heat Shrinkable butt connector (provided).

  13. Beginning from the front of the vehicle, route the black 12 ga. wire rearward along the frame rail avoiding any hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tank or any other points that may pinch or break the wire. If routing the wire through a grommet and along the exterior of the vehicle, be careful to avoid any hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, or any other points that may pinch or break the wire. Heat the Shrinkable butt connector using a heat gun. Starting in the center of the splice connector. Heat the Shrinkable butt connector from the center out to the edges on each end until the tubing shrinks and the sealant flows. Allow to cool before inspecting the splice.

  15. Add silicone rubber (not included) to seal the grommet where it was slit to route the yellow and green wires. Ensure the silicone and grommet make a tight seal to prevent moisture or dirt from coming inside the vehicle.
