Using a 10mm Socket or wrench, Disconnect and isolate the Vehicles Negative battery cable.

MODULE CONNECTION

Note : Cargo van installation will not require trim panel removal.

  • Conversion Van installation will require the Partial removal of the vehicle’s rear trim panels to access the taillight wiring connectors for module install.

  • Starting on the passenger’s side. Locate the connectors matching the end of the T-One® Connector. Insert the T-One® Connector end containing the green wire in between the vehicle and taillight connector. All connector’s surfaces should be clean and free of dirt.

  • Mount the T-One® Connector black box using the double-sided tape provided from hardware kit.
Note: Clean flat mount surface area using a 50-50 mixture of rubbing alcohol and water to mount lighting module black box.

  • Locate a suitable grounding point near the black box such as an existing ground stud or drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the eyelet and screw provided. (Do not drill into vehicle floor or bed.) Clean dirt and rustproofing from area. a

  • CAUTION Verify what is behind any surface prior to drilling to avoid damage to the vehicle and/or personal injury. Do not drill into any exposed surfaces.

  • Route T-One® Connector end with the yellow wire and the loose red 18 gauge wire above the rear doors in cargo area. Route the red wire to the CHIMSL (Center High Mount Stop Light) and route the connector with the yellow wire to the driver’s side and down to the matching taillight connector. ab

  • Locate the connectors matching the end of the T-One® Connector. Insert the T-One® Connector end containing the yellow wire in between the vehicle and taillight connector. All connector’s surfaces should be clean and free of dirt. a

  • Locate the wires connected to the CHIMSL (Center High Mount Stop Light). Using a test light, determine the +12V wire by pressing on the brake. When test light connected, it will light up when brake is pressed. Using a wire tap provided, connect 18 gauge red wire to the +12V CHIMSL (Center High Mount Stop Light) wire. Using blue butt connector provided, connect the other end to the 18 gauge red wire of the body harness. b

BODY HARNESS

  • Starting on the passenger’s side, locate an area near the black box. Using a 2” hole drill a hole near the jack mounting location. Be sure to avoid drilling through additional materials beyond the intended hole. Deburr and coat metal with primer.
CAUTION Verify what is behind any surface prior to drilling to avoid damage to the vehicle and/or personal injury. Do not drill into any exposed surfaces.

  • Locate small grommet underneath the van body on the passenger’s side floor pan area. Carefully slit the grommet to allow the black jacketed cable to pass through the grommet up into the 2” hole that was drilled into the cargo area. Apply silicone sealant around the jacketed cable (sealant not provided). b

  • Install the second 2” grommet over the jacketed cable. Connect the black/blue/red wires jacketed cable to the module’s black box using supplied Perma seal butt connectors, (see wiring Detail for Reference). Mount the grommet into the 2” hole.

  • Underneath the vehicle, route the jacketed cable long the vehicle’s body up to the engine compartment’s battery location.
WARNING If routing the wire thru a grommet and along the exterior of the vehicle, be careful to avoid any hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank or any other points that may pinch or break the wire.

  • Route the body harness’s black wire to the vehicle’s Positive battery post. Connect the 30-amp Fuse holder Labeled (7-way) with supplied butt connector to the fuse holder. Connect the supplied ring terminal to the opposite end of the fuse holder. Insure the 30-amp fuse is removed (if not remove it) and connect the ring terminal to the positive battery post. (See wiring detail for reference

BRAKE CONTROL HARNESS

  • Determine a suitable mounting point on the tow vehicle for the Electric Brake Control Harness.
Note : Brake Control not included. Brake Control Harness designed to work with Tekonsha® Brake Controls such as: 90195, 90885 or 90160. Go to www.tekonsha.com for more details or where to buy.

  • Route the Brake Control Harness’ White/Blue/Black wires through an existing grommet on the fire wall and into the engine compartment. Route wires through grommet by creating a small hole in the grommet to pass the wires through.

  • Route the Brake Control Harness’ white wire to existing vehicle chassis ground point. Using provided ring terminal, mount.

  • Route the Brake Control Harnesses Black wire to the vehicle’s positive battery post underneath the hood. Using 30 amp fuse holder (Brake Control), butt connector and ring terminal connect to the battery.

  • Route Blue wire (Electric Brake Output) to Body Harness Blue wire. Using butt connector, connect blue wires.

  • Route the Brake Control Harness Red wire to the 18 gauge red wire on the body harness. Using the blue butt connector provided, connect red wires.

  • Secure the brake control harness connector near the desired Brake control mounting location.

7-WAY HARNESS

  • Determine 7-Way mounting location.
  • Route the 7-Way Harness containing the 7 wires behind rear bumper fascia and over bumper support bracket, towards the Mounting location.
  • Using wire insertion detail, pin 7-Way Connector.
  • Connect 7-Way connector and 7-Way socket. Mount 7-Way (Bracket not included).

COMPLETION

  • Test and verify installation with a test light or trailer once installed.
  • Secure harness with the cable ties provided, to prevent damage or rattling. Be careful to avoid any areas that would pinch, cut or melt the wire.
  • Apply heat directly to butt connectors, working from the center out to the edges, using a hot air gun or other source, until the tubing recovers and the adhesive flows. Allow to cool before inspecting splice and checking integrity.
  • Replace all coverings, grommets or any other components that were removed for ease of installation. Some grommets will need to be altered to allow wires to pass through. Seal altered grommets with silicone.
  • Reconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
