Operation Manual
Safety precautions
This product complies with the requirements of the following directives of the
European Union for CE conformity: 2014/30/EU (electromagnetic compatibility),
2011/65/EU (RoHS).
Pollution degree 2.
The following safety precautions must be observed before operation. Damages
resulting from failure to observe these safety precautions are exempt from any
legal claims:
- Comply with the warning labels and other info on the equipment.
- Do not subject the equipment to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures, humidity, or dampness.
- Do not subject the equipment to shocks or strong vibrations.
- Do not operate the equipment near strong magnetic fields (motors, transformers, etc.).
- Keep hot soldering irons or guns away from the equipment.
- Allow the equipment to stabilize at room temperature before taking up measurements (important for exact measurements).
- Replace the battery as soon as the battery indicator “BAT” appears. With a low battery, the meter might produce false readings that can lead to electric shock and personal injury.
- Fetch out the battery when the meter will not be used for a long period.
- Periodically wipe the cabinet with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents.
- Do not operate the meter before the cabinet has been closed and screwed safely as the terminal can carry voltage.
- Do not store the meter in a place of explosive, inflammable substances.
- Do not modify the meter in any way.
- Opening the equipment and service- and repair work must only be performed by qualified service personnel.
- Measuring instruments don’t belong to children’s hands.
Cleaning the cabinet
Clean only with a damp, soft cloth and a commercially available mild
householder cleanser. Ensure that no water gets inside the equipment to
prevent possible shorts and damage to the equipment.
Introduction
This instrument can be used to measure the moisture level in sawn timber (also
paper, and cardboard) and hardened materials (mortar, concrete, and plaster).
It displays the moisture level directly. In addition, it can also measure
environmental temperature. It has three LED’s which are used to indicate the
moisture status of the object under test. It is portable and very easy to use.
A very low-cost and easy-to-be-used pocket-size device.
Features
- LCD display with low battery indication and backlight
- Pocket size and lightweight
- Wood moisture measuring range 6-60%
- Building material measuring range from 0.2 to 2.9%
- The measuring range for the ambient temperature is 0-40 °C (32-99 °F)

| The battery is low and should be replaced immediately
---|---
| Wood moisture measurement mode is selected. In this mode, you can measure
the moisture level of sawn timber, paper, or cardboard.
| Material moisture measurement mode is selected.
In this mode, you can measure the moisture level of hardened material (mortar,
concrete, or plaster)
| Percent (unit of moisture)
| Celsius degree
| Fahrenheit degree
| The present reading has been locked
Operating Instruction
- Press the key once to turn on the instrument.
- Selecting the desired Measurement Mode:
a.) After the instrument has been turned on, press and hold down the “ON/SET” key for about 3 seconds to enter “Setting mode”. The reading disappears and only the corresponding symbol starts flickering on the display.
b.) While the function symbol is flickering on the display, press the “ON/SET” key to select the desired measurement mode, and the corresponding symbol will flicker on the display.
The four modes are as follows:
Wood moisture measurement mode|
---|---
material moisture measurement mode|
Celsius temperature measurement mode (°C)|
Fahrenheit temperature mode (°F)|
c.) After the desired measurement mode is selected, don’t operate the instrument and wait for about 3 seconds. The instrument exits the “Setting mode” automatically and you can start the measurement, now.
Performing Measurement
-
For temperature measurements, the display shows the present environment temperature directly.
-
To perform moisture measurements, drive the probes into the wood or material to be measured. The display shows the reading, meanwhile, the LEDs will also give an indication.
For wood moisture measurement mode ( ):
If the reading is < 6%, all LEDs without indication
If the reading is > 6% and is < 16%, the green LED will flash
If the reading is > 16% and is < 20%, the yellow LED will flash
If the reading is > 20%, the red LED will flash
For material moisture measurement mode ( ):
If the reading is < 0,2%, all LEDs without indication
If the reading is > 0,2% and is < 0,7%, the green LED will flash
If the reading is > 0,7% and is < 0,9%, the yellow LED will flash
If the reading is > 0,9%, the red LED will flash -
To lock the present reading on the display, press the key.
The display stops updating and the symbol “ ” appears.
Auto Power Off
If the device is not used or if the screen does not change, automatically turns off after 15 seconds.

Batteries, which are used up dispose of duly. Used-up batteries are hazardous
and must be given in for this being a supposed collective container.
NOTE
- Keep the instrument dry.
- Keep the probes clean.
- Keep the instrument and battery out of reach of the infant and child.
- Some factors (such as material type and temperature) can affect moisture measurement results and may make it necessary to correct the displayed value. Don’t use the instrument in case of inspections or for reference purposes.
- When the symbol ” ” appears, the battery is low and should be replaced immediately. When you install a battery, ensure the polarity connections are correct. If you will not use the instrument for a long period of time, remove the battery.
7.1. Statutory Notification about the Battery Regulations
The delivery of many devices includes batteries, which for example serve to
operate the remote control. There also could be batteries or accumulators
built into the device itself. In connection with the sale of these batteries
or accumulators, we are obliged under the Battery Regulations to notify our
customers of the following:
Please dispose of old batteries at a council collection point or return them
to a local shop at no cost. The disposal of domestic refuse is strictly
forbidden according to the Battery Regulations.
You can return used batteries obtained from us at no charge at the address on
the east side of this manual or by posting with sufficient stamps.
Batteries, which contain harmful substances, are marked with the symbol of a
crossed-out waste bin, similar to the illustration shown left. Under the waste
bin symbol is the chemical symbol for the harmful substance, e.g. „Cd“ for
cadmium, „Pb“ stands for lead, and „Hg“ for mercury.
You can obtain further information about the Battery Regulations from the
Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz und Reaktorsicherheit (Federal
Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation, and Reactor Safety).
All rights, also for translation, reprinting, and copy of this manual or parts
are reserved.
Reproductions of all kinds (photocopy, microfilm, or other) only by written
permission of the publisher.
This manual is according to the latest technical knowledge. Technical
