BEFORE YOU START

Remove Arclight Light Modules from pedals. Slide all four light modules out of the pedals.

Charge all Arclight Light Modules.
Use the included charging hub, or plug a light module into any female USB slot. The indicator light on each light module will switch from orange to green when they are fully charged. After 10 minutes, the green light will shut off.

NOTE: Battery life will vary depending on usage and conditions.

STEP 1: Configuration adjustments:

If you are going to remove one or both of the clip less mechanisms or add traction pins before installing please note:

Dual-Sided Clipless:
If you are leaving the dual-sided clipless configuration as shipped, you can proceed to step 2, but please revisit these instructions if you ever want to change the configuration.

Traction Pins

WARNING: Use caution and test your set-up if you install traction pins on the pedal with the clipless mechanism installed on that face; pins can prevent release of your shoe depending on your shoe style and lead to falling and severe injury.

Single-sided clipless or both sides flat:
If you would prefer a single-sided clipless set-up or want to convert the clip less version into a flat version, you can remove one or both clipless mechanisms.  Use a Tone wrench or bit (T10) to removethe 4 bolts for each mechanism.

Reinstalling Clipless Mechanism:

WARNING: If you reinstall the clipless mechanism they MUST be replaced with the spring towards the rear of the bike when the mechanism is right side up. If the clipless mechanism is installed backwards it is possible to clip in but then your shoe will be stuck in the pedal and this can lead to falling and severe injury.REDSHIFT-SPORTS-Arclight-Pro-Clipless-Smart-LED-Bicycle-
Pedals-FIG-6

NOTE: If you reinstall the c/ipless mechanisms the bolts should be torqued to 2.5 Nm.

Installing Traction Pins on Flat Side(s):
Once you have configured your pedal into single-sided clipless or flat on both sides, you can install traction pins on the flat side.

WARNING: Do not use the flat side without any traction pins installed.

Removing/Reinstalling Wings (Dual-sided Clipless Race Configuration):
The wings are removable and allow you to have a dual-sided clipless pedal without lights and wings. This is potentially desirable when you want minimal weight and do not need the light functionality. The wings are removed by removing the two bolts on each wing using a Torx wrench or bit (Size T25).

WARNING: The wings come in LEFT and RIGHT versions and the Left versions must be used with the Left pedal and the Right versions must be used with the Right pedal to ensure the lights are properly oriented. In addition, the wings will only attach in one orientation on each side so do not force the wing bolts if the holes do not line up.

NOTE: When you reinstall the wings the bolts should be torqued to 5.SNm .REDSHIFT-SPORTS-Arclight-Pro-Clipless-Smart-LED-Bicycle-Pedals-

STEP 2:
Unscrew your old bicycle pedals using a hex wrench or pedal wrench .REDSHIFT-SPORTS-Arclight-Pro-Clipless-Smart-LED-Bicycle-Pedals-
FIG-8

STEP 3: Apply bike grease to the threads on both pedals.

NOTE:
Grease is important to prevent pedals from becoming locked and difficult to remove in the future.

STEP 4: Identify Left and Right Pedals
Left pedal will have a groove on the spindle, near the threads. Right pedal will not have a groove.REDSHIFT-SPORTS-Arclight-Pro-Clipless-Smart-LED-
Bicycle-Pedals-FIG-10

NOTE: Redshift logo on pedals will be legible when Right and Left are oriented correctly. If the logo is upside down, Right and Left are mixed up.

STEP 5:
Screw in Arclight Pedals using 8mm hex wrench. It is recommended to then tighten to 35 Nm using a torque wrench to ensure the pedals won’t become loose over time.REDSHIFT-SPORTS-Arclight-Pro-Clipless-Smart-LED-Bicycle-Pedals-

  • Left pedal screws in by turning counter-clockwise (while facing the left side of the bike)
  • Right pedal screws in by turning clockwise (while facing the right side of the bike)

CAUTION: It’s VERY IMPORTANT to correctly install the RIGHT vs. LEFT pedals. Incorrectly switching them and cross-threading will lead to damage! If the pedals are not going in easily by hand the first few turns make sure to check you have the correct pedal.

STEP 6:
Remove Light Modules from charger and insert into pedals.REDSHIFT-SPORTS-

STEP 7: Press button on each light module to turn on and select mode.

  • Light module will automatically switch from white to red depending on the orientation of the pedal -no user input needed (as long as correct RIGHT/LEFT pedal/wing are installed. See Step 1 – F for more details).REDSHIFT-SPORTS-Arclight-Pro-Clipless-Smart-LED-Bicycle-Pedals-FIG-14

NOTE: Batte,y life will va,y depending on usage and conditions.

STEP 8: Attach cleats to cycling shoes:

  1. Left and Right cleats are identical.
  2. Lightly grease cleat bolt threads.
  3. Using the 4 mm hex wrench, attach cleat bolts and cleat washers loosely to the shoe soles. Adjust alignment as needed. Tighten the cleat to 5-8 Nm (44-70 lb-in) and avoid excessive force.

NOTE: Attach cleat with arrow facing forward

STEP 9: Adjusting the cleat tension:

  1. The tension adjuster is located on the rear of the clipless mechanism. To adjust tension, use a 3 mm hex wrench to turn the tension adjuster.

  2. Increase tension in a clockwise direction (increase for a more secure shoe/pedal connection, but more difficult engagement and disengagement).

  3. Decrease tension in a counter-clockwise direction (for less secure shoe/pedal connection, but easier engagemenVdisengagement).
NOTE: Tension must be adjusted on a/14 mechanisms.

  4. Engage cleated shoes in pedals by aligning the cleat with the mechanism while pushing down. Disengage by twisting heel outwards (away from bicycle). Cleat will also release by twisting heel inwards if necessary (emergency situation only).REDSHIFT-SPORTS-Arclight-Pro-Clipless-Smart-LED-Bicycle-Pedals-FIG-16

Safety guidelines for pedals:
Use only Redshift cleats with Redshift pedals. Check that cleats are properly installed.

  • Practice clipping in and out before going on a ride.
  • Inspect the cleats regularly and replace them when they’re worn out.
  • Inspect the pedals for wear, damage or loose parts before each ride. Keep pedals properly maintained at all times. If you have any questions about your new pedals, please contact Redshift Sports at support@redshiftsports.com
