Element-D’s to different types of assets.

Review and abide by the safety information found in the Element-D and Ohaus Valor 7000 Series Balance user manuals. Tidy connection cable to prevent tripping hazards.
Installation Instructions
Receiving the Shipment
-
If this is your first time setting up the Elemental Machines system, you will receive an email for your dashboard account verification. Save this email for when the devices arrive.

When devices are shipped, they will be added to your Elemental Insights Dashboard™ with default names. When you first log in you will see all your devices with a ‘disconnected’ status.

When devices arrive, carefully remove the contents from the packaging. If any of the contents look damaged, please send a picture to help@elementalmachines.com.

Confirm the Element-D’s in your package are labeled with the assets to which they are to connect. If the labels do not match the intended assets for connection, please contact help@elementalmachines.com.
Element-D Initial Power-up -
Plug the Element-D in using the provided power supply.

Complete Wi-Fi Connection following instructions in the provided 771-00010 Wi-Fi Connection Guide – Gateway GW2/3, Element-C/D.
a. 771-00010 is included with your Element-D as a printed copy. Digital versions of this are available in the Support section of the Elemental Insights Dashboard™.
Attaching Connection Cable to Asset -
Locate the data port on the asset (shown in Figure 1) to which the Element-D will connect.

- Plug the RS232 end (Figure 2) of the RS232 Connection Cable into the data port on the balance located in step 7.

Configuring Asset Menus
- Set switch on balance bottom to “Unlocked”, as shown in Figure 3

Press the On/Zero button to power on balance.

Hold the M+ button.
For reference: The Menu Controls are shown below. To navigate the menu,
* Left button (Print Units) = **No**
* Middle button (On/Zero/Off) = **Yes**
* Right button (Function Mode) = **Back
**

Press No until the screen reads P.r.I.n.t.
-
Press Yes. The screen will read rESEt.
-
Press No until the screen reads CONtNt.
-
Press Yes. The screen reads rESULt
-
Press Yes.
a. If the screen reads OFF, press Yes.
b. If not, press No once. The screen will read OFF. Press Yes. -
The screen will read GrOSS. Press Yes.
a. If the screen reads ON, press Yes.
b. If not, press No once. The screen will read ON. Press Yes. -
Now the screen will read NEt. Press Yes.
a. If the screen reads ON, press Yes.
b. If not, press No once. The screen will read ON. Press Yes. -
Now the screen will read tArE. Press Yes.
a. If the screen reads ON press Yes.
b. If not, press No once. The screen will read ON. Press Yes. -
Press No until the screen reads LAYOUt.

Press Yes, the screen should now read FOrMt. Press Yes.
a. If the screen reads MULtI, press Yes.
b. If not, press No until it does. Then press Yes. -
Press No until the screen reads End.

Press Yes.
-
The screen should now read C.O.M. Press Yes.
-
Press No until the screen reads bAUd.
-
Press Yes.
a. If the screen reads 9600, press Yes.
b. If not, press No until it does. Then press Yes. -
Now the screen should read PArItY. Press Yes.
a. If the screen reads 8 n0nE, press Yes.
b. If not, press No until it does. Then press Yes. -
Now the screen should read StOP. Press Yes.
a. If the screen reads 1, press Yes.
b. If not, press No until it does. Then press Yes. -
Now the screen should read HANdSH. Press Yes.
a. If the screen reads NONE, press Yes.
b. If not, press No until it does. Then press Yes. -
Now press the M+ button to return to weighing screen.

Make sure to leave the settings Unlocked as shown in Figure 3.
Attaching Connection Cable to Element -
Plug the other end of the Connection Cable into the data port on the Element-D. This will be the USB port and the cable can be plugged into any of the four USB ports as seen in Figure 4.

Positioning the Element-D

Determine where the Element-D should be placed to allow for power access and a tidy connection cable.

Securely position the Element-D in the chosen location. The Element-D has magnets which make it easily mountable to magnetic surfaces.
a. Note: If applicable, an adhesive metal mounting plate available from EM may be used.
Finalization -
Before taking any measurements, Tare the balance by placing something on the balance and then pressing Tare.
This step is mandatory in order to get all three channel outputs. -
To send a weight measurement to the Elemental Insights Dashboard, press **PRINT
**
- Confirm that the value appears on the dashboard. (The dashboard may only display two digits after the decimal point. However, transfer to any third party platforms will include the full value.).
- If the dashboard does not display any value, check cable connection and menu settings. Contact help@elementalmachines.com if problem persists.
- Contact any third-party vendor for next steps regarding communication to the external platform (if applicable).
