Ground Preparation

For the best drainage using EasyPave grids, we recommend a base of fine crushed gravel and geotextile (optional) as a layer separating your sub-base (compacted soil/clay) and the base (gravel/crashed stone). In some cases, EasyPave can be installed directly on top of compacted soil or grass without a base depending on application and loads.

  • Please refer to the installation schematics on our website for instructions on the amount of base required for your application.
  • If you are having doubts on the base requirements, give us a call or email us.
  • An important step in no base installation is to make sure the area is clear of debris. (Remove all rocks and stone)
  • It is also required that the area be smoothed out, and then the EasyPave grid will contour to the likeness of your ground once laid.

If you are laying your grid over grass, or directly on top of your lawn, please utilize our EasyPave anchors. Reason for this, is that you do not want your EasyPave to “float” at all on the grass. Anchor it down tight to the ground so you have a nice solid foundation for your load. The grass will grow through the grid and mature properly.

Connection

Connecting the Easypave grids is a very simple process as they were designed with easy installation in mind. The edges of each individual grid have circle pads at every other vertex. The grids connect together by attaching a vertex with a pad to a non-pad vertex. Here are step-bystep instructions to explain this concept more clearly:

  1. Line up the units together end-to-end, so you have one pad section lined up to the opposing unit’s non pad section or vice-versa.
  2. Very lightly tuck the pads under each wave pattern on the other unit.
  3. Simply push the grids together and you should hear a click. This happens when the non pad sections slide up on the connection to the pad section.

Anchor/Fill

After the grids are placed on the ground, anchoring can be done immediately. We like to note, anchoring with our EasyPave anchors are an optional choice. Mostly only needed for slope installations over 10%.

Only one to two anchors per grid is needed. There are T Holes within the grid, 5 in total per grid. You can anchor down in any of these locations. We put so many on each grid so that if you make custom cuts, you still have locations where you can anchor the grid down. Make sure you hammer the anchors down to the bottom of the grid. This will grant a secondary hold of the grid to the ground so that the grid is not only connected laterally, but now also is held vertically.
Our Suggestions for Filler/Aggregate:
A.
Grass or sod installation – we recommend one of the following options

  • lay the grid, fill with soil and then press in your sod so that the roots are below the top of the grid. Only the blades of grass should extend above the grid.VODALAND EasyPave Grids System - Grass
  • lay the grid, fill with soil and then lay your sod on top for it to take root in the soil within the grid.

Please note: you can also lay the grid directly on the grass and allow it to grow through, this just will take time and patience of course.
B. Gravel – we recommend ½ inch or less for gravel fill. It is difficult for us to estimate how much fill/aggregate is needed for your project, as each scenario calls for different amounts. The best method to get an accurate estimate of fill/aggregate is to fill a small area of your grid to a height you find appropriate and then multiply accordingly for the total amount needed for your project.

C. Nothing – Our EasyPave grids are able to handle certain load requirements without the need for any fill depending on the application. If this is the method you’d like to use, please contact a Vodaland representative to confirm that it will work for your project.

FAQ’s

VODALAND EasyPave Grids System - EasyPave

Can the EasyPave Grid be cut?

EasyPave can be cut easily with a simple hand saw or table saw. We recommend laying them out first, tracing your cut, and cut to your exact preference. Then snap into place to complete your turn or curve as you like.

Can you plow or use a snow blower over the EasyPave?

Snow plows and snow blowers have no negative effect on the EasyPave grid. As long as you’ve set the appropriate height when doing snow removal, the plow or blower will not damage the grids.

Can EasyPave work on slopes?

EasyPave grids, with our anchors, can work on slopes up to and including 25 Degrees. You will likely not find a competing product that can match this slope. This allows our EasyPave to be useful in many different terrains and climates, no matter the extremes.
