Using the GOURMET CHECK thermometer

Using on a barbecue:

  • The electronic unit must be placed outside the barbecue.
  • Do not attach the GOURMET CHECK to the barbecue kettle, the barbecue lid, or the control panel.
  • In the case of barbecues without side shelves, we recommend using the OUTDOORCHEF removable side shelf or positioning a table close to the barbecue.
  • Do not touch the probe or cable without heat-resistant gloves.

Gas barbecue:

  • Start your gas barbecue as usual.
  • Program the GOURMET CHECK as required.
  • Guide the sensor probe through one of the openings in the lid and insert the sensor plug into the socket on the electronic unit.
  • Insert the probe no further than the middle of the food to be grilled.
  • Close the lid.

Note: If you ignite the gas barbecue again later, the resulting electrostatic charge may cause the GOURMET CHECK to malfunction. This fault is purely temporary and has no lasting effect on the correct operation of the GOURMET CHECK. You may, however, need to reprogramme your GOURMET CHECK.

Charcoal barbecue:

  • Start your charcoal barbecue as usual.
  • Program the GOURMET CHECK as required.
  • Guide the sensor probe through one of the ventilation slots on the top of the lid and insert the sensor plug into the socket on the electronic unit.

  • Insert the probe no further than the middle of the food to be roasted.
  • The sensor cable is secured by the oven door.
  • Do not touch the probe or cable without heat-resistant gloves.

Cleaning

Clean the cable and probe thoroughly after each use. Use a damp cloth and some washing-up liquid to carefully rub off stains. Wipe with a fresh damp cloth and then dry the sensor using a soft cloth. If the cable or probe has become discolored and brown, we recommend cleaning them using a standard steel wool pad.
Do not wash either the electronic unit or the sensor in running water or immerse them in any way. This could cause irreparable damage to your GOURMET CHECK.
