Product Usage Instructions

  1. Work with a buddy: It is recommended to have one person adjusting the antenna while another person relays the results.

  2. Download Winegard App: Scan the QR codes below to download the Winegard App from either the App Store (for Apple devices) or Google Play (for Android devices).

  3. Connect the preamplifier:

    • Use coax cables (not included) to connect the preamplifier to both the antenna and signal meter.
    • Turn on the signal meter by connecting it to an outdoor power outlet or a power bank (not included).
    • Note: The TV does not need to be connected to the signal meter during initial antenna setup.
  4. Position the antenna:

    • Scan the QR code on the signal meter using the Winegard App.
    • Position the antenna to receive the maximum number of free channels.
    • Allow six to twelve seconds between each re-positioning.
    • HINT: The Winegard App provides different views to help with
positioning, including a top-down view of broadcast towers, a list of detected channels, and a signal strength view for fine-tuning specific channels if necessary.
  5. Tighten the antenna and connect the signal meter to the TV:

    • Once the antenna is positioned for best reception, tighten its position.
    • Move the signal meter inside and connect it to the TV using a coax cable (not included).
    • Provide power to the signal meter by connecting it to an indoor outlet, a power bank (not included), or an extension cord if the signal meter and smartphone/app are more than 30 ft apart.
    • Run a channel scan on the TV to detect available channels.

Product Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with the Smart Preamplifier, refer to the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Problem: SUMMARY SCREEN Total Channels shows all zeros.
Possible Cause: App connection to database lost. Possible Solution: Close the app and reopen it. Also, ensure that the antenna is placed in the correct location and allow the timer to cycle twice while repositioning the antenna.

  • Problem: Total Channels shows all dashes. Antenna has encountered a problem.
Possible Cause: Not all channels are GREEN. Antenna position, distance, terrain, weather, network power, or band may affect signal strength. Possible Solution: Reboot the signal meter by unplugging it for 3 seconds and restoring power. Reposition the antenna to get as many channels as possible in GREEN and YELLOW (channels with these colors should be viewable). Zoom in on the map in the Winegard App to see if the network tower appears.
