Danfoss ATF Clamp-On Pipe Mounting Frost Thermostat
Product Information
The ATF Frost thermostat is a device designed for frost protection. It is used to control the temperature of a pipe and prevent freezing. The thermostat has a temperature range of 20-90°C and a switching differential of 8K. It operates on a voltage rating of 220/240 Volts AC 50Hz and has a current rating of 15 (2.5) Amp. The thermostat has a single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) switching action.
Installation Guide
- Ensure that the pipe surface where the thermostat will be clamped is clean and free from paint and rust.
- Place the thermostat on the pipe and secure one end of the spring fixing strap to one of the fixing lugs on the thermostat.
- Stretch the spring strap around the pipe and clip it over the unused fixing lug on the thermostat. Make sure the spring strap holds the thermostat tightly to the pipe.
- Cut off any surplus spring strap using a pair of side-cutting pliers.
- Remove the thermostat cover.
- Take the flexible cord through the gland plate.
- Terminate the core of the flexible lead on the appropriate terminals on the thermostat:
- Terminal 1-2: Break on the rise of temperature
- Terminal 1-4: Break on fall of temperature
- Ensure that the product is properly earthed.
Setting the Thermostat
Set the thermostat at a minimum temperature of 20°C.
Note: This unit has been calibrated to switch on when the temperature
falls to the dial set value to provide frost protection. The installation must
be done by a competent electrician and should conform to the current IEE
Wiring Regulations. An earth connection is required.
Wiring Detail
- 1-2: Break on the rise
- 1-4: Break on fall
- An Earth connection is required.
Application
The ATF is a clamp-on pipe mounting frost thermostat. The thermostat is supplied complete with a spring fixing step for use with pipework from ½ to 2 “.
Fixing the thermostat
-
Ensure that the pipe surface to which the thermostat is to be clamped is clean and free from paint and rust.
-
Place the thermostat on the pipe, securing one end of the spring fixing strap to one of the fixing lugs on the thermostat. Stretch the spring strap around the pipe and clip over the unused fixing lug on the thermostat. It is important that the spring strap holds the thermostat tightly to the pipe. Cut off any surplus spring strap using a pair of side-cutting pliers.
-
Remove the thermostat cover, take the flexible cord through the gland plate, and terminate the core of the flexible
lead on the appropriate therminals on the thermostat, noting that,- Terminal 1-2: Break on the rise of temperature
- Terminal 1-4 : Break on fall of temperature
- It is important that the product be earthed.
