Fig. 4 Replacement set – EXPERT USE ONLY
- Components “Ombilix Replacement Rope”: rope with sewn-in karabiner and heat shrink tube.
- Additional components “Ombilix Adjust”: rope protector.
Replacing the rope:
- Cut the old rope and destroy it to render it unusable. For Ombilix Adjust, slide the rope protector onto the new rope until reaching the karabiner.
- Slide the rope clamp onto the rope.
- Attention: The arrow on the rope clamp must point toward the firmly sewn connector.
- Push the rope clamp at least 0.5 m on to the rope and test the function (Fig. 3a/b).
Tie a stop knot:
- Overhand knot – make a loop at least 20 cm from the rope end.
- Feed the rope end through the loop.
- Pull the overhand knot tight.
- The rope must project at least 12 cm from the knot.
Heat shrink tube:
- Slide the heat shrink tube over the knot so it is centred on the knot.
- Shrink the tube using a hot-air blower (max. 300 °C, min. distance to the rope 5 cm).
ATTENTION: The rope clamp must be used exclusively for the rope provided by the manufacturer.

Guided type fall arrester including movable guide. The guided type fall arrester may be used exclusively in connection with the rope supplied by the manufacturer (Performance Static 12 mm). The movable guide must be fastened to a reliable anchor point using a connector. The attachment point and the anchoring must be capable of withstanding the loads occurring in the worst conceivable case. Even when energy absorbers (to EN 365) are used – as required by EN 363 (fall arrest systems) – the attachment points must be designed for an arrest force of min. 12 kN (EN 795 Type B). The guided type fall arrester must be connected to a fall arrest harness to EN 361 at the sternal catch eye marked A.
Fig. 6 Precautions for Ombilix
- Attention: No edge loading.
- Avoid sagging of ropes.
- Do not climb beyond the anchor point.
Fig. 7 Free fall space
The anchor point must be selected so that free fall and fall height are limited to a minimum. The maximum rated load incl. tools and equipment is 140 kg. Before any use, calculate the required fall space as follows:
- S: Lanyard, factor 2: 24 cm
- E: Rope extension: ~ 3 %
- H: Brake distance of device: ~ 1 m
- A: Average height of catch eye to EN 361: ~ 1.5 m
- R: Safety margin: 1 m

Lanyard for work positioning or restraint.
- 8a-b) The lanyard can be used for work positioning or restraint.
- 8c) The lanyard Extreme XP II – with steel core – can be used in connection with sharp tools such as power saws.
- The workplace positioning system is not suitable for fall arrest. Therefore, such a system should not be used if there is a risk of the user hanging in the sit harness or being subjected to unexpected strain in the harness. Additionally, when the device is used as a lanyard for work positioning or restraint, the operator must consider the need for an additional means of securing (e. g. a fall arrest system). When using the lanyard, ensure that the anchor point is always above the hip.
- d) Fasten both ends of the lanyard
- to the lateral attachment elements (EN 358) of the hip harness.
- to the centre fastening eye(s) of the sit harness (EN 813).
Use as one branch only: Fasten the firmly sewn connector (in the direction of the arrow) to an anchor point and the other end to the central fastening eye of the sit harness. (Fig. 3a/b)

_ Attention: _The anchor points must be selected such that the fall factor will not exceed 1.
STORAGE, MAINTENANCE, AND MARKING
GENERAL NOTES CONCERNING SERVICE LIFE, STORAGE, MAINTENANCE, AND MARKING
ATTENTION: The products must not be subjected to damaging influences. These include contact with caustic or aggressive substances (e. g.: acids, lye, soldering fluid, oils, cleaning agents) as well as extreme temperatures, flying sparks, and subjection to electric influences. Sharp edges, moisture and icing especially may substantially impair the loading strength of textile products!
SERVICE LIFE AND REPLACEMENT
The service life of the product mainly depends on the type and frequency of use as well as on external influences. At the end of the useful life or latest at the end of the maximum service life indicated, the product must be removed from use. Products made of artificial fibres (polyamide or polyester, Dyneema®, Aramid, Vectran®) are subject to some aging even if not used; aging mainly depends on the intensity of ultraviolet radiation as well as on climatic conditions.
MAXIMUM SERVICE LIFE
With optimum storage conditions and without use:
- Metal (incl. Extreme XP II): unlimited
- Textiles: 14 years.
MAXIMUM USEFUL LIFE
(commercial/non-commercial use) Providing proper use and no detectable signs of wear showing as well as under optimum storage conditions:
- Metal (incl. Extreme XP II): unlimited
- Textiles: 10 years.
Frequent use or extremely high loading may substantially reduce the useful life. Remove the product from service immediately if any of the following applies
- fall loading has occurred
- webbing edges are damaged or individual fibres have been pulled from the webbing
- visible signs of damage or abrasion show on seems
- melting burns, decolouration or strong furriness of the webbing/ jacketing are noticed
- the device has come in contact with chemicals
- the wear indicator is visible (interior fabric of different colour becomes visible)
- the product has been subjected to impact on a hard surface
- extreme grooving and/or deformation has occurred
- sharp edges have formed due to abrasion,
- signs of damage are visible or function is impaired
- you are in doubt concerning the safety condition of the product, even in the least.
The product may only be reused after an adequately qualified person has confirmed its suitability in writing.
INSPECTION AND DOCUMENTATION
In case of commercial/professional use, the product must be inspected as needed but at least yearly by the manufacturer, an adequately qualified person, or an approved inspection body/ agency; and it must be serviced or removed from use as required.
The identification must be readable. Such inspections and service must be documented for each product; record the following information: Product designation, manufacturer’s name and address, individual identification mark, date of manufacture, date of purchase, date of first use, date of next regular inspection, result of the inspection and signature of the responsible adequately qualified person. - Store cool, dry, and protected from daylight outside transport containers. Prevent contact with chemicals (Attention: battery acid!). During storage, prevent mechanic strain by crushing, pressure, or tension.
TRANSPORT
- The product must be protected from direct sunlight, chemicals, dirt, and mechanical damage. For this purpose, a protective bag or special storage and transport containers should be used.
Fig. 11 Cleaning
Clean contaminated products in hand warm water (if needed, add pH-balanced soap). Rinse properly. Dry at room temperature, never in dryers or near heaters/radiators! Commercial, alcohol-based (e. g. isopropanol) disinfectants may be used. If needed, oil the joints of metal parts after cleaning.
