Talking Products MS-PIR-REC Pro Motion Sensor

Please read these instructions carefully and retain them for future reference.

Power Supply Options

The Sensor can be powered using 3x AAA batteries, (not included). Alkaline batteries are recommended and NiMH rechargeable batteries can also be used.
The Sensor can also be powered by connecting a 5 Volt DC mains power adapter to the Micro USB socket. The USB cable is supplied but the power adapter can be purchased separately.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The two power supply options mentioned above must NOT be used at the same time. Please remove all three batteries first before the mains adapter is connected.

How to record a voice message

Slide the Power Switch up to the ON position.
Press and hold the A button for 2 seconds and then release. The Red Light will illuminate and you will hear a ‘BEEP’ sound to indicate that the recording has started.
Speak clearly into the Microphone at a distance of approx 15 cm.
When you have finished recording, press the A button once. You will hear two BEEP’ sounds to confirm that your recording has been saved. Your recording will playback automatically and the Red Light will turn off.
You can re-record new messages by repeating the steps above.

How to download a sound file

The Sensor has 4MB of internal flash memory, which will store up to 8 minutes of high-quality MP3 sound files. MP3 sound files can be downloaded directly onto the internal memory as follows.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Remove batteries from the battery compartment. Slide the Power Switch up to the ON position. Connect the Sensor to an available USB socket on a Computer or Mac using the USB cable supplied. The Red Light will flash to confirm the connection.
The first time the Sensor is connected to a Computer it might install the drivers and may require the Computer to be rebooted depending on your operating system. Your Computer will recognize your Sensor as a USB mass storage device and It will appear as a removable ‘USB Drive’.
Copy & Paste your chosen MP3 file/s from your Computer onto the Sensor. If the transfer is successful you will see your MP3 files in the removable ‘USB Drive’ folder. Please see the troubleshooting tips over1eaf.

How to remove a sound file
There are two methods available to remove/delete sound files from the memory inside the Sensor, as follows:

Press the B button once to play a sound file and repeat to select the file that you would like to remove. Whilst that file is playing, press and hold the B button for 2 seconds. You will hear a sound to confirm rm the file has been deleted. Repeat to delete each file one by one.
Connect the Sensor to your Computer with a USB cable and delete the required sound fl le/s from the list in the ‘USB Drive’ folder.

Activation and Playback Options

Slide the Power Switch up to the ON position. The Sensor will become active after a period of approximately 5-20 seconds.
The Sensor will detect Infra-Red (IR) up to a distance of 4 meters with a 120-degree angle.
To keep the function simple, store one single MP3 sound file In the memory. This file will play once each time the Sensor is activated. The Sensor will take 3 seconds to reset itself following each activation.
If you prefer to store and play multiple MP3 sound files, there are two playback modes to choose from as follows:
Single Sound Repeat Mode and II, Multiple Sound Loop Mode. Press the A button twice to switch between these two playback modes.

Single Sound Repeat
Press the A button twice until the red light flashes 3 times. Press the B button once to play a sound file and repeat to select the file that you would like to play. The same MP3 sound file will play once each time the Sensor is activated.

Multiple Sound Loop
Press the A button twice until the red light flashes 2 times. A different sound file will play each time the Sensor is activated. If you require your sound files to play in a specific order, you must rename the files to 01, 02, 03, etc, and then download the files onto the Sensor, one by one, in that specific order. Please note the Sensor is not able to playback files randomly.

Volume Control

There are three volume levels. Press the B button twice in quick succession and then listen. Repeat to select the required setting. Settings will loop between Low, Medium, and High. You will hear a ‘BEEP’ to indicate the highest level.

Installation

The sensor can be mounted using the bracket included or directly onto the head of a screw using the holes on the rear side.
The Sensor can also be mounted onto any nat surface using a self-adhesive pad or Velcro, (hook & loop pad).
The Sensor is NOT recommended for outdoor use.
To avoid false or unwanted Sensor activations, do not install this device near high-power electrical appliances, switching devices, heaters, air conditioning units, or in environments that have a large change in temperature.

Important Notes

If you need to format your Sensor, please use a Windows PC using FAT or FAT32.
Please DO NOT format the Sensor using a MAC computer, this will permanently damage the Sensor and it can not be repaired.
Special note for MAC users. When you delete unwanted sound files from the Sensor please also ensure that you delete the files from your computer’s Recycle Bin. This will ensure the files have been completely removed.

Trouble Shooting

If you experience a problem when connecting your Sensor to your computer, please check the plugs and sockets to see if the cable is fully connected or has become damaged. Please also check if you are using the correct USB cable because some USB cables do not allow you to transfer data files. Try using a different cable to connect.
The Sensor will only play sound files saved in MP3 format. The total file size can not exceed 4MB capacity. We recommend that your MP3 file is MONO, 128kbps, 44.1 kHz, 16 Bit. Please also ensure that your file name does not include any symbols, such as – # ” > * + / etc.
If your MP3 file is larger than 4MB, try editing it to make the file size smaller. Editing methods could include, i) Reducing the playback time, ii) Changing the sound file from Stereo to Mono, or iii) Altering the sample rate. Please contact us if you require more help with audio editing.
MP3 files that have been created using iTunes are not compatible. iTunes MP3 files use different coding, so please try using another software program to convert your files to MP3.
If the battery power becomes low, you will experience false activations and/or incomplete playbacks. Replace with new high-quality batteries.

Safety Information

This product is not suitable for children under 3 years. Do not immerse t his product In the water. Do not attempt to dismantle this product in any way. Use only new batteries of the stated size and type. Do not mix old and new batteries or different types of batteries. To avoid the risk of explosion, do not heat or dispose of batteries in a fire.
